    Moral of the story, hard wire a GPS tracker with its own battery backup and set a geo fence before leaving

    • @SheepInACart
      @SheepInACart 5 років тому +2

      GPS is a one way broadcast system, it doesn't let you communicate back to the satilight. Also since they stole the car without starting it, disabling via a geo fence wouldn't have prevented them taking it. Systems with a prepaid cell sim card can send back a location each time you message them (if they can get GPS signal, which lots of covered trailers prevent AND its in an area with cell tower coverage), but despite numerous systems on the market there really isn't a magic bullet solution for GPS as theft prevention.

      It shows now a days ya can’t trust no one I chain everything I have that would be stolen we’re I live they steal snowblowers anything that’s not chained down and I live in a little town in Canada more crackheads running around than you can imagine I’m in a place north east of Toronto great little town but the kids have nothing to do and end up doing no good I’ve got more locks and chains around my house I only have a little shed wish they would work for ther money but I guess drug addicts can’t work but also cars are different cars go missing every power tour ther is I believe it’s a shame you can’t go to a race or event and you have to worry about your car while you are tired guess thers a lot of money in car parts this guy was luckier than most

      @@SheepInACart if you set up a geo fence, once tracker leaves boundaries, you get a notification, and if you miss it cause you partied too hard, you won't need kids to recognize your car. I wasn't meaning to say it prevents theft, but you will have a better chance of recovering your item

      Not even that man, just do the old school cool bonanza, custom fab a driveshaft with a pin. You put the pin in, it doesn't even so much as budge, thus deterring any co*ksu*ker from stealing your car. Take the pin out, it's a normal car. No thief will ever bother to move a car that has to be lifted, and if they lift your car, chances are they know about GPS systems and they will spoof them, which is easier than eating pie these days.
      You should see what they do to top of the line BMWs and MERCs here. They come in pairs of two, one at the front, one near the receivers and they use (something, didn't bother to learn further what it was) and they suck up your car and it will never even know it wasn't you.
      Cutting fingers for theft should be allowed.

    I really don't get the DRIFT thing... but whatever floats yer boat. That's a classic Monte Carlo. Very clean. Glad he got it back. The best thing was the GMC flatbed (cabover?) at the end. Sweet looking ride. Early '50's? I had a '57 Chevy pickup back in the early 70's that I pulled the 235 straight 6 from and dropped in a 327. The rear end was too short geared but it ran smooth. Left it in Montana when I went to NOLA. Some farmer near the Flathead Lake wanted it bad. Hope he took good care of it.

    It's 2019 . Don't rely on cops to find stolen stuff, fit trackers,either GPS (not so good) or radio style (unbeatable) in a hidden place on the car,tractor,truck,airplane, earthmoving equipment ,tools etc etc .

    • @SheepInACart
      @SheepInACart 5 років тому

      Issue with radio style is the thieves can use the constant signal to find the trackers, and they get feedback when its disabled. Best approach is a couple of totally independent systems of differing types scattered around that you don't then go and tell everybody about. That said these won't stop theft, only aid recovery, and the damage is often already done by joyriding or burning the shell after pinching a few easy to grab parts.
