Thank you so much for making time to create these videos. You are convincing me to play AC again. I'm in Australia and as a younger person playing AC back in the days of dial up I didn't understand how Ping worked. I used to die ALL THE TIME. Could never understand. Wonder if I could finally host my own server.
This was exactly what i was looking for! Been thinking about playing AC again and wasn't sure where to start - this helps a ton. Last time i played was from right after it launched for an all-consuming year. And I'd love to revisit a server as close to retail as possible. Was looking for servers without a bunch of bots - think I'll give Coldeve a try! Thanks!
I’m on Levistras. Server pop is 20 by day, 40 by night, 60 by weekends. All people at the keys playing. Strict no macro. Non stop group quests. Join, we will not power level you. But u will be immersed in group support. Like a multi player was intended.
Nice list, I'll have to check some of those out. Lost Woods in another that is modified quite a bit with buff bots in every starter town and the hub, new quests, etc. Crazy hard mobs around makes it pretty exciting!
Just be warned last time I played Coldeve it was bot armies everywhere, couldn't find a place to even play and you may find more people talking on a server with a pop of only 20 or so
Macroing and Botting are allowed on Asheron4Fun. We do run 2X - XP and Luminance as a baseline. During the weekends, we bump that up to 3X. Currently there is no limit on the amount of accounts you can run or the amount of players you can have logged in at one time. If you have any other questions, please reach out to us. Thank you for the great video. ~Galli
Good video! I was excited about Valheel's level 180 option, and learning all spells, so I headed right in! And... could not get out of the training academy without completing an olthoi kill task. Without armor. Died, and resurrected in... the training academy, to do it again. Supposed to pick a class in there, too. Wtf, a class? Not in AC thank you. Deleted my character, dropped the server from ThwargL, left the discord. All I wanted was to be in Holtburg, level 180 (or 275), with spells. Sigh. /rant :)
It is overwhelming the amount of items that drop and what to do with them. The same devs made Project: Gorgon and did the same thing. Interested in playing this if I can find some cool peeps to play with.
Enjoyed the video... I'd be curious to know if there are any "classic" type servers like EQ P99 or Classic WoW. I used to play on Darktide, back in the day, what a great time for MMO's!! I miss it, haven't really had that much fun, since Shadowbane.
Good question. Might be worth hitting up the official emulator discord and asking around. (discord.gg/C2WzhP9). That time period was definitely a great time for MMOs. Had a capped Horde Shaman in WoW and spent a minute in original EQ. Good times!
Portal storms were always an added level of anxiety, ha! Going AFK in town was general a risky proposition as it was uncertain where you might get whisked off to!
Coldeve is a joke. Unlimited accounts and no rules, hence the incredible lag. Everywhere you go to hunt will already be camped by bot armies. Industrial operations making the server lag hard. Avoid.
I have fun on Coldeve. No quams at all. Bot armies using Vtank is literally the only way to see all the end game content in a dead game. I've seen and killed Curator like 5x in the last week. And I'm running it with other players I have no issues with Coldeve.
That would be a major change from when I last played, though that was a few years ago now. It was fun in the beginning when I was just doing starter dungeons, but when you get to mid-late game it was just miserable because so many places were flooded with entire fellowships of UCMs running around.
Try Frostcull even if for a little while. It gives you a new aspect to the game. For the most part the build to go for is Void, 2h, and MW. The cows are a good place to lvl in Hebian-to. Lvl cap is 10 million. A lot of XP and Lum. It uses the old subway type system for travel. Macros and multi accounts are welcome. Daily quest for money, XP, and Lum. Armor and weapons are nerfed. Everything is nerfed. I looked at it, I can get drops if power In regular servers or unlimited power on Frostcull. I chose Frostcull.
Coldeve absolutely allows macroing. There are no rules, per se. Unlimited accounts, up to 32 simultaneous connections (logins). Multiple large Monarchies to choose from that all have extremely generous people who will throw everything you need your way... if you want - or go old school. Look, I bought into the horror stories of massive bot armies ruining these types of servers, so I spent 3 years on a GDLE 3 acct limit server. It sucked. No economy, nothing in marketplace but a tinkerer and buff bot. Tumbleweeds. I'm good with solo playing, but after 2 years I just missed people. The last year was just logging in here and there. I finally decided to see the horrific botting empire at Coldeve. Pffft... doesn't exist. Yes, people run armies, but you LEARN to work that into your game play. There are pockets of aggravation here or there, but 95% of it is smooth sailing. Lots of people to discuss AC memories, strategies, or even current events. Huge economy. Drop in /mp and ask in /cg if anyone has a bag of Foolproof, or a stack of MMD's to spare for a new player. BAM! I guarantee you multiple people will show up to help you out. On Coldeve I have the choice to be by myself for awhile, then be very active with other players. On the previous server, the only choice available was to be by myself, and that eventually got me to explore other options. Decal is still in active development and the newest plugins take out a lot of the tediousness of game play and inventory management (that goes for all plugin-friendly servers!). If you enjoyed AC, come back!
Interesting list of servers. Quite a few I haven't even heard of but I'm surprised you somehow missed Seedsow. It's not end of retail but has a pretty solid population and is pve.
Ahhh, the nostalgia. I played primarily on TD as well. Does anyone else remember Tim the Enchanter and Wren?
These guys were OG for sure!
I rolled with Masonry and Doom Heralds gang back in the day
Thistledown here too. I was in Juzam's clan
i was a blurrian back in the day.. wasnt home base like the windmill in crag?
@@OklahomieTV Sadly, I can't recall. I do remember actually using the meeting halls though ;)

You won't regret it.

No bots on levistras
So cool you played on Thistledown!
Frostfell vet here, Just found the emulator a week ago, being back in Holtberg is like coming home after years abroad.

Thanks, I appreciate it!
Thanks for the video. Think I’ll check out some you mentioned!
Great Video Cap! Keep up the great work !

No love for Seedsow! lol
I like that you are picking up exquisite items right away at level 5.
Ty I was having a hard time trying to figure out which server to main on
Man that boost to 180 is awesome
I play on FrostfACE just to run around and let the nostalgia run
Just be warned last time I played Coldeve it was bot armies everywhere, couldn't find a place to even play and you may find more people talking on a server with a pop of only 20 or so
I'm vapor', hulivar, huli from thistledown lol
Can you review again? And maybe include almost all servers, because some have very custom content, but low pop.
Just curious why you didn't cover GLDE? I played on Reefcull, and have been wondering if it was still active or not.
still active, been playing there for six years now
I used to love this game and played Darktide. Which is the best pvp server

I’d like to try AC. I’ve never played but was an avid player of classic EQ. Do you think there’s much room for newer players?

Levistras is the best. No botting server and good community.

Wow - I'm so impressed. I played AC3 until 2004! This Opensource project, what does ist run? AC oder AC2 with the laste updates from turbine?
AC3 was a good one. Few people knew about it.
coldeve wont launch for me, not sure why
Thistledown forever.
I am returning as of today. I just installed everything. Did you have a chance to look at Ascension? Just curious.
portalstorms in nexus, that was a mess ;)
Portal storms were always an added level of anxiety, ha! Going AFK in town was general a risky proposition as it was uncertain where you might get whisked off to!
podtide lets goooooo free leveling!
Can you play on an IPad or does it need to be PC?
PC only that I'm aware of.
Man that was one sexy guy in /mp with them RARE GAUNTS on Coldeve bruh
no Dekarutide :(
Coldeve is a joke. Unlimited accounts and no rules, hence the incredible lag. Everywhere you go to hunt will already be camped by bot armies. Industrial operations making the server lag hard. Avoid.
I started on there because of the population but I realized quickly that it was bots.

Come join levistras, we run RTW Daily. Very active members
I wish all of the server were merged into one. We would have more retail feel. Problem is that no one will ever agree to it.
I don't think Coldeve allows macros. It was a little bit nose turned up IMO. So I left and went to Frostcull. Much happier there.

This is absolutely false.
are you joking? CE is def pro macro lol
LostWoods AC. Mod server is a Hidden Gem with Enhance Content Like Tire 9 Creatures. Thanks for the video
Come join the fun again

Thanks for the comment. I figured I missed a gem or two.
