I was in the front row of one of their 1977 concerts (aged 13). The concert began with the sound of a helicopter landing (‘arrival’) and then ABBA bursting onto the stage to sing Tiger. I was transfixed! And I still am. Having inhaled all their albums as a kid, it’s still a shock when I realise that young folks may only have heard individual hits. Those albums present whole, self-contained worlds. Welcome to Planet ABBA! 🙌😂🤩
Wow that sounds so magical really 😲 yeah I want to get out of the phase of just listening to the "hits" yanno and really dive into their stuff. Thanks for watching! 😁
You’re older than me then EyeEmBee! I was in the audience at Wembley in 1979. In fact, if you’ve heard the Live at Wembley album you’ll have heard an 11 year old me cheering in the audience! 😁😁
Wow! This is their biggest selling studio album and personally my favourite. Its like a greatest hits album. Actually, all their follow up albums were "greatest hits" imo. Keep up the great reviews and looking forward to listening to more stuff from you. My 2 other favourite Abba studio albums are Super Trouper & The Album.
I appreciate that Robert! I had a great time listening through this album and I am looking forward to sitting down and listening to a lot more of their stuff :) I was thinking about doing one of those albums next actually.
No worries Christiano! I really enjoyed the album and from a young age I was brought up with my parents listening to a lot of ABBA Hits, so in a way I've always been a lowkey fan of their work, but actually taking the time and listening to an album in depth really hits hard. Thanks for watching :)
For us older fans who were there through ABBA's 10 active year period its really nice seeing younger people learning about the music and enjoying it. I would say Arrival was the album where ABBA truly found their strength in solid slabs of pop music. The three previous albums 'Ring Ring' (Released 1973 under the name Bjorn, Benny & Agnetha, Frida), 'Waterloo' (1974) and 'ABBA' (1975) were all very much albums searching for their own style. After Arrival' every album is completely classic and virtually every song could have been a single. My personal favourite is 'Super Trouper', I think they truly reached a peak of creativity with that one. 'Voulez-Vous from 79 is another belter, while ABBA - the Album gives a strong nod to attempts to market themselves in the US. The Visitors from 81 is the darkest album. Some of the songs will perhaps be familiar to you from the Mamma Mia movies. It makes me wonder where you're from and how old you are, and what inspired you to listen to ABBA on a deeper level.
Just a couple of pointers, Arrival I think everyone outside Sweden probably thought it was bagpipes but infact, its based entirely on Swedish folk music and is mainly voilins. That's Me was the B-side of Dancing Queen more or less everywhere but was an A-side single in Japan. I got what you meant about Money Money Money but back in 76 it was always likened to German caberet, My Love My Life was originally recorded as Monsieur Monsieur, Why Did It Have To Be Me as you rightly saw is a throwback to the bluesy American stuff (Fats Dimino was an inspiration). As writters in Sweden, we have to remember Benny & Bjorn are Swedish so English is their second language, also nither particularly enjoyed lyric writting and their manager Stig Anderson helped them out. But even in 76 the lyrics were better than most English writters. Its young people like you that will educate other youngsters that ABBA are a lot more than the 19 tracks on ABBA GOLD.
@German Morawski Happy Hawaii, it's the same song but the first song they released. Then it was redone with more saxophone and the lyrics Why did it happen to me. I prefer the later version best 🤩
Have you heard the original demo of My Love, My Life? It's only ever been heard in an old Swedish radio interview, but it's so beautiful and her voice is perfection, possibly even better than the released version. Agnetha doesn't struggle or need to use vibrato in between notes so far apart that it would be impossible for any other Earthly soul to reach without losing the emotion in the song. It's called Monsieur, Monsieur, and is highly recommended.
They are still playing "Tiger" in Swedish nightclubs +30...even though remixed. The final song "Arrival" takes me right back to my backyard in the Swedish province "Dalarna" (My home place). These kind of Swedish folklore tunes are still very, very popular in Dalarna and are played frequently everywhere (especially summertime) here and has a history from decades back!!! Every year at Midsummertime (mid June) This kind of music is in its prime! The instruments are (Just as 123billydog says) not bagpipes but a variety of string instruments (violin ,key harp etc)
Like you, B, I’ve only known the hits. Nice idea of revisiting one of their biggest albums in preparation for the release of their new album. Again, you’ve been gone too long, way too long. You just crack me up with your various reactions! The shades (“chilling mode,” the bopping, the lip-syncing (during Dancing Queen, for example), the falsetto (Money, Money, Money) are all classic! 😂🤣. Great description of these tunes! I love the way you make analogies to the music (arcade music, Broadway, theater, Charley and the Chocolate Factory, Futurama, comedy sitcom theme song, Dion, “very 1950’s,” Lord of the Rings, title score, etc….. Loved your singing to The Wanderer! Although you are “not a music major,” you have a great ear for music, honestly. Thanks for doing the video. Do more of these! Don’t take so much time in between videos. Until next time, peace out….
Yeah I thought it was a good album to start off with 😂. I appreciate the way you analyse my videos thoroughly and enjoy them just as much! I promise I won't take forever uploading next time haha. :) Peace Out!
I love this album. Well, I love all of them. Fernando and Happy Hawaii are not songs from the original Arrival, but were included as bonus tracks in the 2001 remastered edition. So the title song is the last song on the Arrival album.
Thanks. Great reaction and I am also kind of new when we talk about listen to the whole ABBA-albums even if I have heard all of their biggest hits. Would be ashamed otherwise as a swede :) Hopefully you can react to the new album 5 November! ABBA is a fantastic group and this album is amazing.
Came across this reaction by chance, and was very pleasantly rewarded .. You did an excellent job, and made many good comments .. I haven't seen any ABBA album reactions before, so it's great to see this one .. You've got a subscription from me, and I'm looking forward to your review of "Voyage" ( and any of ABBAs other albums that you find the time to check out ) .. Cheers, Wayne
Wow, loved your reaction to "The Album" and this one is equally enjoyable. It really warms my heart to see young people discovering and appreciating ABBA's music. I grew up listening to it and can't tell how often I lost myself in daydreams then. Don't stop 🤗
The tune of Arrival the instrumental piece is used as the music to a song called Time by Frida and BA Robertson (great song, thoughtful lyrics). Frida also sang "Belle" in French as part of the musical Abbacadabra to the same tune. Another useless fact is that Frida sang backing vocals to a song called Movie Star by Swedish singer Harpo in the mid 70s. Great reaction vid.
This album was so big. Before Arrival ABBA were big in Scandinavia, but after Arrival they were catapulted to the rest of the world. It started with Fernando, which was not on the album originally, but when it came out just before the album, it was a sharp indication of the level that ABBA were going to on Arrival. And then Dancing Queen was release and after that the whole album with Knowing Me, Money Money etc. Pure sensation, ABBA were all over the place, both hated and loved, but mostly loved of course.
It was fun watching you enjoy Arrival!! Since you are fired up about Voyage you should check out ABBA'a last studio album THE VISITORS. Very early 80s sounding and very dark for an ABBA album... quite innovative itself!!
I have loved ABBA since the 70s. I lived in Stockholm at that time, and met them frequently in the forests and groceries, etc. at that time. So nice, so polite and down to earth. Very decent people, every one of them. So, not only is ABBA one of the very best music groups in the world, they are also fantastic people. Lena, now in Norway
im an Abba fan since the mid 70's as a preteen and bought everything from then on by them :) im pushing 60 now and floating on sunshine with neww music by them..your understanding of music in general is so wonderful to behold and your appreciation of Abba is wonderful..i just watched all your Abba reaction today and cant wait for your reactions of Visitors n Supertrouper..u are gonna love em more .. it has never gotten old to me..thanku again for your thoughts and expertise.. a young gentleman that u are
Actually, Fernando and Happy Hawaii were added as bonus tracks after the album re-issue. Plus, "Why Did It Have To Be Me" and "Happy Hawaii" are two different versions of the same tune. Furthermore, there was the third version of this tune, entitled "Memory lane" as per description had a country vibe, but this version never been issued, and there were not any leaks of its record either. Pity.. :D
I began noticing ABBA in 1974 with Waterloo. Their sound stood out from all other songs on the radio. My first purchase of ABBA was 1977, fall semester of my first year at Ricks College. I bought ABBA Arrival on cassette.
I think what sets Abba apart from most bands, even in their time, was they put out albums with minimal filler tracks. Maybe excluding Ring Ring and Waterloo, where they were still trying to figure out their identity, all their albums are consistently great from the first track to the last. So good!
The first albums 73-74 were heavily influenced by the 70s glam rock in the UK. As disco hit in the mid 70s, you can see the change also in the ABBA albums. ABBA were always ahead of the curve.
The instrumental tile track is inspired by Swedish folk music. It was the brainchild of Benny Andersson. Form an early age, his father and grandfather had taught him to play traditional music on the accordion. You can hear references to folk music in most ABBA songs. The piece had several working titles before it eventually ended up on the album. 'Fiol' (Violin), 'Ode to Dalecarlia', 'Arrival in Dalecarlia" and finally 'Arrival'. (Dalecarlia is a province in Sweden know for its rich folk culture.)
Thx !It is an album with diversity and rich, originally Fernando and happy Hawaii, were not in the album, still passes for fernando but Happy Hawaii does not seem relevant to me for the coherence and the overall quality of the album. The precd4 album "abba" seems to me even more creative in diversity, even if a little less produced. The glam rock tracks "hey hey Helen" and, mamma mia,man in middle amazing with don mix funk soul, Tropical loveland, reggae with accordion, surprising. The diversity of productions is really what makes one of ABBA's manufacturing brands. But their big successes hide too much the whole, the rest
I got my Boy Scouts entertainer’s award playing My Love My Life on the piano in front of an audience at Clacton Salvation Army Hall! The layered vocals were meant to imitate I’m Not In Love by 10cc. Fernando and Happy Hawaii are bonus tracks, and weren’t included on the original LP. Arrival was the final track. I think it’s just loads of layered up synths. Happy Hawaii was originally the B side of Knowing Me Knowing You and in brackets they put ( early version of Why Did It Have To Be Me) because that’s what it was.
Had a ball watching and listening to this and some really nice observations. I think Happy Hawaii is the same tune as "Why did it have to be me". I remember listening to this album as a kid and bopping along to it. Good memories, thanks! Subscribing!
It started life as Happy Hawaii, then became the boogie infectious Why Did It Have To Be Me. For a time it had a country feel called Memory Lane but they ended up returning to Why Did It Have To Be Me which was always a big favourite on the tours and was usually prsented as a duet between Frida and Bjorn. Check Out the Australian performance from Australia which is amazing.
I am really enjoying your enthusiasm and joy at discovering these songs from the albums that aren’t as perhaps not as well known as ABBAs Iconic's from the Albums . You remind me of myself perhaps maybe 30 odd years ago discovering new songs and even after all these years as an Abba older fan I still discover little things here and there hidden within these songs 🙌 It’s awesome to see new generations appreciate ABBAs ability to capture your heart ❤️
Love watching and listening. As for Why Did It Have To Be Me, I always classed it as Rockabilly. There were a lot of songs like it that had the same sound and structure. Very much enjoyed remembering..
Great to see your reaction to this magnifiscent album. It originally ended on Arrival (which sounds like a closer). Fernando was only added on the Australian and New Zealand releases of the original album, and both Fernando and Happy Hawaii were only added on further releases of the album, like the deluxe CD version :). I would love you to react to the Voulez-Vous album, or ABBA - The Album. Take care :)
The Visitors requires multiple listens to get really into IMO, a "first impression" video would be intriguing, but you really can't form an opinion on some of the songs on it with one listen.
Arrival was the first album I bought as a kid, and still my favourite. ABBA’s finest album was probably their last: Visitors. It wasn’t as huge as Arrival, but every song is a masterpiece. Just as Arrival ushered in the disco era, Visitors was right at the start of 80s euro-techno-pop.
Haha nice one! But yeah I'm going to try and adjust it for next album reaction. See the only way its done like that is because of Copyright Blockage, but naw you're right, the audio should have been recorded rather than playing it from a secondary source and letting the mic pick it up. Will be fixed though, sorry again!
I was born after ABBA disbanded in early 80s. But like everyone else around me, I knew at least one ABBA song growing up and that was Dancing Queen. I never really thought to search out for more ABBA songs. Then, Mamma Mia came out and I got to learn more about other songs of theirs. Then, Mamma Mia 2 (the movie) came out and When I kissed the Teacher was among the very first songs in it. What a fun song!! That's when I started to search for their albums beyond the ABBA Hits CD I already owned. Such great musicians I have to say!! And it is very nice to see younger people listen to them.
What a nice surprise when I came across this video with your review to ABBA's album "Arrival"! thank you very much! I have several things that come up to share The first thing is that it is the first time that you listen to ABBA in a global way and not for some isolated and popular song like "Dancing Queen" I value that a lot, your open attitude I also like your aptitude for analysis, added to your more relaxed posture and your generosity to dedicate yourself and dedicate time Your analysis and review is very much enjoyed Now I'm going to the most specific of the album "Arrival" before I tell you that I think it is the album that has the most individual videos to see ABBA perform in a TV show or official promotional videos (except for the instrumental "Arrival", which appears in the background music in the special "ABBA in Poland") "Arrival" is ABBA's consecration as a pop music group In my opinion, all the tracks are at least acceptable, due to the ability of the ABBA composers (the bearded keyboardist Benny and the guitarist Björn) to create catchy melodies to show off the beautiful voices of their also beautiful interpreters (the blonde Agnetha and the brunette Frida) I give you an important clarification of context: up to now ABBA's compositions were based on music, the lyrics always came later, as Swedes it was difficult for them to write in English, and the ladies singing with swedish acent in their first days, included their famous and icónic perfomance in Eurovisión Song Contest 1974 with "Waterloo" (In the next "ABBA The Album" there will be a greater bet on lyrics and openness to other genres) I agree with you on the best songs, the three chosen as singles "Dancing Queen" and "Knowing me knowing you" were #1 and "Money money money" #3 in the UK (as well as success in several other countries around the world) But I also include the beautiful ballad "My love my life" in the Top 3 of "Arrival", because it is the best ABBA lovesong (also heartbroken song) and the interpretation of the blonde Agnetha as the lead voice is sublime (there is a video in which sees her alone act it) I don't have songs that I don't like, the 'less good' would be "Dum dum diddle" And my favorite moment or phrase is the end of "My love my life", for melody lyrics and wonderful performance by soprano vocalist Agnetha Fältskog I also agree in the importance of the general production in all the songs of the album ABBA have been very perfectionists of their work until the song was finished to full satisfaction They included the "wall of sound" technique in the recordings to give their music another punch (On their tours they brought musicians and an additional choral trio to maintain the level of excellence of their recordings) Another of ABBA's trademarks is the great use of contrasts, between lyrics and music or the melody itself. "Knowing me knowing you" is the example of a 'heartbreaker lyrics' with a very catchy melody and chorus or the melodic bridge in the dizzying "Tigre" One more thing important is that in the original edition of "Arrival" álbum (1976) wasn't included the two last songs, because "Fernando" was released as a single and included in the first recopilation álbum "Greatest Hits" (1976), both before "Arrival" album, and "Happy Hawaii" was only a B-side of a single, not included in any original ABBA albums For me "Arrival" is a masterpiece of pop music by ABBA , in my Top 3 of all Their albums My suggestion is to review the previous álbum, the selftittled "ABBA" (1975) and after these, review the follow album, tittle "The Álbum" (1977), most versatily all three are my Top 3 and the Podium of all ABBA albums Thank you again forma these great review and reaction to ABBA music and ser you in the next vídeo My best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina (South América)
Thanks very much for all that information! That is really helpful and gives me a better insight into their music and the overall group themselves. Thank you for taking the time to write that and I am glad you enjoyed the video :)
Very much enjoyed your reaction to this album. You really listened and it never sounded fake. I have subscribed and am looking forward to more ABBA and other artists too.
Arrival was the 3rd vinyl album I got when I was about 10 years young. Don't remember if I got it as a present, or bought it myself. I gave this exact vinyl to my now 10 year old daughter (whom I also gave a true old Lenco vinyl record player a year ago), and it's such incredible fun to notice how she experiences the value of this music now, at her age. It's an important influence to have, if you ask me. If you want to develop taste, later on in life, this is the album you need to know really well. Whenever I hear tracks like "My Love My Life" I just burst into tears, still. It's so powerful, musical bliss and lush, so deep and emotional. My memories kill me with that.
I will be filming another reaction hopefully on Monday and it should be uploaded the same day! 😁 I'm not sure which one I'll do next but I have gotten some suggestions, so I will pick one at random. But I am really looking forward to hearing more of their discography:)
My Love My Life was inspired by 10cc's I'm Not In Love. To this day, it is my favourite ABBA song. Agnetha has always done melancholy well. She feels what she is singing. You can actually hear the pain in her voice. The vocal here is outstanding, and when she hits those high notes I get goosebumps.
Fernando was not on the original album it was only released as a single the same year. And Happy Hawaii was an alternative to Why Did It Have To Be Me. They were both later included on extended cd releases. Thank you for your wonderful reviews and reactions.
I really enjoyed watching you reacting to this album, please do more of Abba, the visitors, super trouper... and I'd like you to react to Celine Dion's album courage :)
Thats me is my favorite 'unknown' song on Arrival. It could be a great hit. The original album ended with arrival by the way. Fernando (BIG hit single) and Happy Haway (demo track) where not part of it
The original vinyl album consisted of 10 songs, so "Arrival" was the outro. "Fernando" was released earlier that year as a single, but did not appear on one of the original vinyl albums. "Happy Hawaii" originally was the B-side of "Knowing Me Knowing You" released in 1977, and it was labeled as an early version of "Why Did It Have To Be Me" - the two songs share big parts of the melody. "Dancing Queen" and "That's Me" were released as a single in August 1976, whereas the whole album was available in November 1976.
Love this one. their rn of 6 albums including the one before this one, and the 4 after are great. Their first two (8 in total) were and are fun and interesting listens even if not as good overall, and do have some great songs still.
It may sound like bagpipes in "Arrival" but there weren't. It's one of just two instrumentals ABBA made. The second one is called "Intermezzo No. 1" which is a nice one, too. "Arrival" did have s position on the album, though. It was the final track, which is kind of strange for the main title. "Fernando" and "Happy Hawaii" were not part of the original release. In fact, "Happy Hawaii" was an early version of what later became "Why did it have to be me".
ANOTHER GREATEST HITS ALBUM FOR ME, FROM THE LEGENDS OF ALL TIME, ABBA. AND NOW A NEW ABBA VOYAGE HAS BEGUN. THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC ABBA, RESPECT 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Is very funny to see your reaccions jee. U should coment on The Álbum .It is their BEST . But Arrival is just glorious. It was the most selling álbum of the 70s. 12 weeks on number one man
Actually, album ends with Arrival. Your version just, probably, includes bonus tracks Fernando (which was released solely as single) and Happy Hawaii" (which doesnt fit into Arrival album). It's fitting that album ends with instrumental "Arrival".
Fernando and Happy Hawaii were not on the original vinyal running order. Fernando only originally appeared on the first Greatest Hits album and was pushed by their manager Stig Andersson as a single reelase in preference to Dancing Queen. happy Hawaii was the B side to Knowing Me Knowing You (ithink could be wrong) it was actually an early version of Why Did It Have To Be Me. If you listen to them both the same tune is there although it was given a more Honky Tonk feel on WDIHTBM. Anni-Frid and Bjorn used to love doing it on stage and would really ham it up.
My favorite album is The Album. Listen to that one!!! Please! It is stuffed with good songs. My favorites are Hole in your soul, Eagle and Take a chance on me. Have a nice day! /Anna from Sweden
For sure! I am definitely gonna go back and react to another album and I say that's the next one I'm eyeing to be honest 😂 thanks for watching and thanks for the suggestion!
Voulez Vous was probably ABBA's most dancing disco, with a perfect 1970's vibe from beginning to end, it will always be my favorite one, although I do love all the others. Somebody suggested their last album, The Visitors, it's also awesome, but with a very serious dramatic tone. That album's theme song was probably the only time ever they got into politics, it's beautifully disturbing.
Please review the abba album the album yiu are awesome loved listening to your comments as it’s all new to you and it reminds me of when I bought it in 1976
Top five: DQ, Knowing Me, Knowing You, Money, Money, Money, Why Did it Have to Be Me?, When I Kissed the Teacher. I also very much enjoy That's Me, Arrival and Tiger and My Love, My Life have great elements to them. Dum Dum Diddle... well, no album is perfect. Obviously Fernando is epic and among my top five or ten for their whole career, but since it wasn't originally on the album, it doesn't count.
My High School team nickname was "Tigers". I'm positive this music was used at athletics events and pep assemblies, etc. It was just too perfect (my HS year 1977-1980)
You're spot on about Wanderer by Dion there, in fact that intro sounds similar to lots of old blues songs! Anyway, I'd like to ask you, how easy is it for a native English speaker to understand ABBA's lyrics, especially when the girls are singing in harmony accompanied by an orchestra in full orgasm haha - It was a nightmare at first for me, English not being my mother tongue
Tiger you say it was overused as a chorus well maybe they wanted that effect , to place emphasis on the ferociousness of the Tiger and not much lyrics like you said again to place emphasis on the Tiger.
Hi I hope all is well. If you are interested in reacting to Benny Andersson's music and Bjorn's Lyrics, the B's from ABBA, I recommend their projects with Gemini self titled and Geminism and Josefin Nilsson. Full albums produced by them and plenty of videos with Gemini. Check it out,
You seem to enjoy diversity and digging a bit to produce quite interesting material. By the time of this album all members of the group had been national superstars for about ten years. It might be interesting for you to check out their roots. I suggest you start with Annifrid the jazz singer from 1964 ua-cam.com/video/Q-PvF4HoYP8/v-deo.html , Agnetha, the singer-songwriters self-penned 1967 debut and first number one hit ua-cam.com/video/OPoVDiBqhPQ/v-deo.html , Bennys first song english, 1965 ua-cam.com/video/Y9vYFyu9gAo/v-deo.html and finally Björns first hit in english probably 1966 ua-cam.com/video/EXIetlMknt8/v-deo.html . Do you notice any relation to the album you reviewed?
Me reacting to any ABBA album: "Oh, my, Agnetha's voice is amazing...!!!!" "Gosh! Agnetha's kicking my ass again!!!!" "That is heavenly... Yeah, Agnetha's voice again...!!!!"
Amazing reviews from you; fantastic! The high notes coming from female vocalists are high pitch sopranos, not falsettos because it is as in this case their true range. Men use falsetto but not too often. The most famous artist to do so is, Barry Gibb and the Bee Gees. And your falsetto on MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!
Would you please listen to albums with less mids and more bass? It's hell to watch your video and listen to it? PC speakers doesn't do any music any justice. Otherwise, I am LOVING this reviewing of an entire album! Great, great video!
You mean play the music using the game capture rather than using a secondary source (laptop)? That way the music will be more clear? Yeah I put a lot of thought behind that and usually when I do that, i get copyright blocked, but I could try and experiment some day and try and find a better solution
Ah, I see... Then leave it as is, I'm much more into watching and listening your reaction than hearing the songs full range. Thanks for the reply! I get it now.
@@MetusalemSeSouffleur Naw don't worry man sorry about that. I can try and come up with a slightly better solution. Even if I just turn down the music a bit but have better quality, that way it would be quiter yet better but you'd also be able to hear my thoughts clearer without the music interfering as much!
@@MetusalemSeSouffleur I will be reacting to another ABBA album soon and I will try and apply that method to see if it works. I already have an Adele reaction done the same way as that ABBA video but for the next album reaction it will be fixed 😂👌
"Why Did It Have to be ME?" sounds nothing like "The Wanderer". They both have the same chugga-chugga rhythm, but so did a million other songs of that period. The melodies, however, are completely different.
Correct! My childhood would have been boring without annuall Abba-cassette bought my dad or LP from 1976-1982.

Looking forward to your next Abba reaction Blizzardz. Stay cool.
!As an older fan i feel proud listening a younger guy praising this iconic album.Thank's dude!
No worries Christiano! I really enjoyed the album and from a young age I was brought up with my parents listening to a lot of ABBA Hits, so in a way I've always been a lowkey fan of their work, but actually taking the time and listening to an album in depth really hits hard. Thanks for watching :)
Super Trooper album is simply fantastic and you will just be overwhelmed by all the beautiful well crafted tunes and emotional lyrics.

I would say Arrival was the album where ABBA truly found their strength in solid slabs of pop music. Happy Hawaii was abandoned and reworked into the final Why Did It have To Be Me for the album. Happy was included on reissues as a bonus track.
Just a couple of pointers, Arrival I think everyone outside Sweden probably thought it was bagpipes but infact, its based entirely on Swedish folk music and is mainly voilins. The best clue that it's not bagpipes is the fact that the high notes are hit!
Why did it have to be me was a reworking of happy hawaii...
@German Morawski hmmmm...that's interesting 🤔
@German Morawski Happy Hawaii, it's the same song but the first song they released. Then it was redone with more saxophone and the lyrics Why did it happen to me. I prefer the later version best 🤩
Actually I'm fairly certain that Arrival is 99% Benny on synthesizers.
My Love, My Life - my overall favourite. Stunning lead vocals!
Many thanks for a great review!
Watching Agnetha sing that breaks my heart in the best possible way.
This album is superb. Excellent from start to finish. One of the best albums ever. Panay Dunn
This album is pop perfection. A blueprint of the golden standard. Pure joy ❤
Thanks. Great reaction and I am also kind of new when we talk about listen to the whole ABBA-albums even if I have heard all of their biggest hits. Would be ashamed otherwise as a swede :) Hopefully you can react to the new album 5 November! ABBA is a fantastic group and this album is amazing.
Will be reacting to Voyage without a doubt 😅 its gonna be a classic!
Will do! I definitely want to react to another ABBA album and that one may the very one I react to! :) thanks for watching.
Hey really enjoyed listening to the album I didn’t know a few so thanks for your great reaction 👍 peace out
Thanks! I appreciate it :)
What a masterpiece that album! I cannot think of any other ABBA album with so many hits.
Happy Hawaii could replace Why Did It Have To Be Me, it fits into the sound of the album.
Thank you:) I am glad you enjoyed! Wow I never actually noticed that actually when I was listening to the album.
@@blizzardz9797 Easy to do - their music is so good you kind of get lost in it all :) !
Great job! Great to revisit a childhood favourite through fresh eyes
Cool look with the reflective specs mate. I am enjoying your album reactions to ABBA. :)
That's me...a love.....like an Eagle flying with a dove ....the best ! X
I really enjoyed your video and I'm looking forward to your next ABBA album reactions.
Thanks for uploading! ✌️
If you wanna do another ABBA, definitely the last two - Super Trouper being the one as their best song writing and pop songs.
The Visitors requires multiple listens to get really into IMO, a "first impression" video would be intriguing, but you really can't form an opinion on some of the songs on it with one listen.
wow, what a handsome boy!!!
Visitors was ahead of it's time.
This whole album is great, they have enough talent for four bands.
Wow - talk about dedication - you are listening to it on an AM Transistor radio!
Well actually scratch "next album reaxtion" as I have filmed an Adele album yesterday using the same method. But for the video after the next one.
And it is very nice to see younger people listen to them.
that's me had a great power to become a hit, this album is pure GOLD. now you must hear voulez-vous
What a nice surprise when I came across this video with your review to ABBA's album "Arrival"! thank you very much!
I have several things that come up to share
The first thing is that it is the first time that you listen to ABBA in a global way and not for some isolated and popular song like "Dancing Queen" I value that a lot, your open attitude I also like your aptitude for analysis, added to your more relaxed posture and your generosity to dedicate yourself and dedicate time Your analysis and review is very much enjoyed
Now I'm going to the most specific of the album "Arrival"
before I tell you that I think it is the album that has the most individual videos to see ABBA perform in a TV show or official promotional videos (except for the instrumental "Arrival", which appears in the background music in the special "ABBA in Poland")
"Arrival" is ABBA's consecration as a pop music group In my opinion, all the tracks are at least acceptable, due to the ability of the ABBA composers (the bearded keyboardist Benny and the guitarist Björn) to create catchy melodies to show off the beautiful voices of their also beautiful interpreters (the blonde Agnetha and the brunette Frida)
I give you an important clarification of context: up to now ABBA's compositions were based on music, the lyrics always came later, as Swedes it was difficult for them to write in English, and the ladies singing with swedish acent in their first days, included their famous and icónic perfomance in Eurovisión Song Contest 1974 with "Waterloo"
(In the next "ABBA The Album" there will be a greater bet on lyrics and openness to other genres)
I agree with you on the best songs, the three chosen as singles "Dancing Queen" and "Knowing me knowing you" were #1 and "Money money money" #3 in the UK (as well as success in several other countries around the world)
But I also include the beautiful ballad "My love my life" in the Top 3 of "Arrival", because it is the best ABBA lovesong (also heartbroken song) and the interpretation of the blonde Agnetha as the lead voice is sublime (there is a video in which sees her alone act it)
I don't have songs that I don't like, the 'less good' would be "Dum dum diddle"
And my favorite moment or phrase is the end of "My love my life", for melody lyrics and wonderful performance by soprano vocalist Agnetha Fältskog
I also agree in the importance of the general production in all the songs of the album
ABBA have been very perfectionists of their work until the song was finished to full satisfaction
They included the "wall of sound" technique in the recordings to give their music another punch
(On their tours they brought musicians and an additional choral trio to maintain the level of excellence of their recordings)
Another of ABBA's trademarks is the great use of contrasts, between lyrics and music or the melody itself.
"Knowing me knowing you" is the example of a 'heartbreaker lyrics' with a very catchy melody
and chorus or the melodic bridge in the dizzying "Tigre"
One more thing important is that in the original edition of "Arrival" álbum (1976) wasn't included the two last songs,
because "Fernando" was released as a single and included in the first recopilation álbum "Greatest Hits" (1976), both before "Arrival" album,
and "Happy Hawaii" was only a B-side of a single, not included in any original ABBA albums
For me "Arrival" is a masterpiece of pop music by ABBA , in my Top 3 of all Their albums
My suggestion is to review the previous álbum, the selftittled "ABBA" (1975)
and after these, review the follow album, tittle "The Álbum" (1977), most versatily
all three are my Top 3 and the Podium of all ABBA albums
Thank you again forma these great review and reaction to ABBA music
and ser you in the next vídeo
My best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina (South América)
Thanks very much for all that information! That is really helpful and gives me a better insight into their music and the overall group themselves. Thank you for taking the time to write that and I am glad you enjoyed the video :)
Very much enjoyed your reaction to this album. You really listened and it never sounded fake. I have subscribed and am looking forward to more ABBA and other artists too.
I really appreciate that thank you! 😊 I will be going onto another ABBA album very soon.. thanks again for watching and subscribing :)
Great album! I'd honestly love you to react to all their albums!
Thank you for your wonderful reviews and reactions.
love your commentary.
Fernando (BIG hit single) and Happy Haway (demo track) where not part of it
Best ever pop album in history - Abba at their best.
Excellent analysis of an excellent album
The babysitter dying while dancing to Fernando was Bea Arthur, famous as Dorothy in Golden Girls. A Legend.
Fernando did actually appear on the Australian release of Arrival. In Europe, it was included in their Greatest Hits in 1976.
It is cool young People like the Music from ABBA 👍 Arrival is a real great Album 🥳
I grew up with this album and Sweet etc. 70s ❤ ❤❤
Thank you for reviewing the Album! Please do all 10 Albums! ❤
I will try my best haha.
A bit tricky that Hans as there are only 9 lol. ;)
@@79BlackRose I forgot that Gold wasn't...
Someone’s got to say it - you look ridiculously hot in those sunglasses! Holy moses!!
Is very funny to see your reaccions jee.
U should coment on The Álbum .It is their BEST . But Arrival is just glorious. It was the most selling álbum of the 70s. 12 weeks on number one man
I appreciate that thank you 😂 I will definitely be reacting to another album for sure!
Why Did It Have To Be Me and Happy Hawaii share the same music score!
Arrival, from swedish folkmusic
The sound quality is a joke😱
Please review the abba album the album yiu are awesome loved listening to your comments as it’s all new to you and it reminds me of when I bought it in 1976
Abba - The Album, for sure! I'll be making another ABBA video again very soon so I'll keep that one in mind. Thanks for watching! 😁
I'm surprised you never picked up on the fact Happy Hawaii and Why did it have to be me use the same arrangement...
Dum Dum diddle have always been my favourite, cause it's folkpop thing. But they didn't self like that according to Benny.
Are ubfrom UK? Ist nice to See Young people enjoying ABBA
I wish you react to ‚The Visitors‘. It‘s a really great Album
Arrivel is absolut fantastic . I heard a million of times.
Thank‘s for your react .
I love your reactions on this album! Did you know Mike Oldfield made a cover version of the song "Arrival"? A little bit faster btw.
Quite funny that Why did it have to be me and Happy Hawaii is the same melody! Same tune but what a difference!!!
3 words... Michael B. Tretow. He was a master with sound!
Tiger you say it was overused as a chorus well maybe they wanted that effect , to place emphasis on the ferociousness of the Tiger and not much lyrics like you said again to place emphasis on the Tiger.
myg what is your playback speaker???? it sound horrible no bass
Check it out,
Hahahaha… those ‘old arcade machines’ came out more than a decade after this album!
Cute
Try the Super Truper album
Why does it have to be me does not sound like no other song!
Me reacting to any ABBA album:
"Oh, my, Agnetha's voice is amazing...!!!!"
"Gosh! Agnetha's kicking my ass again!!!!"
"That is heavenly... Yeah, Agnetha's voice again...!!!!"
❤👍🇸🇪
"Happy Hawaii" and "Why did it had to be me" is the same song with different lyrics and arrangement.....
The melodies, however, are completely different.
sorry I wanted to watch this but because of the poor sound quality I had to turn off.
Yes I get you. This is changed now, I don't do it like that anymore. My recent 2 videos have proper audio recorded.
Only reason I had done it like that in the first place is because of Copyright and I only done it with Album Reactions.
