- Homelessness is seen in certain parts of the Las Vegas valley, but more and more people are complaining that encampments are now popping up in their neighborhoods.
When the homeless do it, nobody bothers them. But once you set up a tent in your "own" front yard, the police and HOA will be at your doorstep within 5 mins. 🤣

Years ago when I was renting, no one helped me!! I chose to NOT buy cigarettes, tobacco, alcohol, drugs, even Starbucks! I didn’t waste money gambling, or going to bars. Property Management, Apartment’s and Landlords are charging 2x the rent plus security deposit and credit check fees to move in anywhere. Since the Pandemic people have lost jobs and the requirements to get shelter or a simple 1 bedroom apartment has skyrocketed. People cannot afford it.
That's why so many are homeless in Los Angeles, along with drug addictions, but yes it's true, they charge so much for rent, even rich people are starting to move from there because they can't pay their taxes. Wow even with the rocky landscaping they still set up camps in that neighborhood.
People are so rude and understanding that COVID epidemic has taking jobs and has killed their families and now they're homeless. My wife and I are homeless and have been for little over a year now and can't get any help because we don't qualify for help. And in June I lost my ability to walk and still can't get disability because Nevada seems to be the hardest state to get disability in. So we have been living in apt cruiser that my stepdad left to us when he passed away after his battle with Cancer. We took care of him for over to years as he fought for his life. So after he died we could no longer afford all the bills. We split all the bills and rent for 20 years at the house and never had a late payment on anything but our land thru us out immediately after he died. I drove trucks for 20 years then got sick and now I'm in a wheelchair living in our car on Jones and Tropicana where we can't get away from all the junkies knocking on are car asking for drugs at our hours of the night. While my way wife holds a sign asking for help. Then we got robbed of our only money we had been saving for an apartment. They got $280.00 we had been saving. So I guess what I'm saying is don't judge all the homeless we have had a hard time to Las 13 family members in the last year in half.

City isn’t cleaning 🧹 up the street and enforcing the city code about garbage in the front yard of houses 🏡 in my neighborhood
all of Nellis road from Russell to the Airforce base is a complete ghetto. The city cant be bothered by that section 8 nightmare.
the city fathers and the casino bosses see to it that every form of illicit drug finds it's way to the streets, it all goes hand in hand.
I might be homeless too my rent went up $425. I probably can't pay either. I don't make money like that.
This is getting bad all over the city, it's been bad for some time but it is getting worse. People are loosing their homes left and right as landlords hike up rents to 'unreasonable' especially if you're already on the brink of poverty.
Food, gas and basic services have all inflated to extremes making homelessness explode.
Beyond human waste we also have enormous piles of garbage just lying in the roads or next to walls. Parked cars are being vandalized, used for living quarters, and stripped regularly. Mail and packages are being stolen. Not to mention the overall feeling of security in these neighborhoods has vanished.
We need to reinstate programs like MASH Village (which broke my heart when it closed) where people can have a chance to gain employment, find transportation and be aided with living arrangements.
Punishing people in their lowest moments doesn't show much human compassion. We need programs to lift them up and out of these difficult situations.
Drive on N. Las Vegas Blvd from N. Main St to Nellis Airforce Base. Really look around and stop thinking this isn't a community experience.
People don't care about other people in their time of need. My wife and I are homeless and seem not to qualify for help. And the ones who who have no clue what it's like to be homeless are rude and inconsiderate of other people as we didn't ask for this.
We have never been homeless before and used to feel the same way they did but now that we are in this situation we understand what it feels like and I will never judge anyone again.
And even though we're homeless we still share with the homeless that don't have anyting. And God had nothing to do with it.
@@rickmcmurtry8312 I didn't blame God in my comment. If you had a place in this city like MASH Village then you would have a valid address to gain assistance. The homeless shelter is considered an invalid address on the application. Which I can understand to an extent but then how can you get the assistance you need. My point is that we need to come together and figure our a real and workable solution that will actually help people regain footing to climb out of poverty. If I'm being completely honest that needs to include programs for low income housing as well. Vocational training, job placement, education, transportation, etc. If so many people weren't already on the brink we wouldn't be seeing this explosion of people being homeless.

Drugs are only a symptom a bigger problem, not the cause of homelessness.
You can't argue with the fact that there are far more drug users that have never been homeless in the USA.
But we must take notice of our fellow human beings that obviously need more help than what's currently being provided.
Since homelessness doesn't discriminate how can there still be so many people that discriminate against the homeless?
The homeless community come from every demographic; every religion, every income bracket, every nationality, every walk of life.
Do you think that whether or not a person uses drugs and/or alcohol aka self medicates should be a deciding factor when it comes to the housing the homeless?
The federal government doesn't require the citizens of the USA to be abstinent of drugs or alcohol to be housed.
Since federal law trumps state law I think it's safe to say any government agency, organization or company that require abstinence from drugs/alcohol is or should be held guilty of breaking the federal law and punished accordingly.
*CALL TO ACTION*
Besides wanting to criminalize or profile all homeless people as pervert meth users what are you doing on a daily or regular basis to help end the homeless epidemic where you live?
If we can become homeless, then that tells me this isn't liberty or the land of opportunity. This is the haves and have nots, sadly.
The lie sold to us by the banks is that the American dream is to be a home owner when the American dream is freedom.
The discrimination of the homeless, afflicted, addicted and abused not only in the USA but around the entire planet needs to stop.

We will never reduce street homelessness without reducing the amount of fentanyl and P2P based meth on our streets. Nowadays, street unsheltered homeless are fentanyl addicts. After only one dosage of P2P based meth, human experiences paranoia and/or schizophrenia. Synthetic street drugs destroy humans mentally and physically beyond the point of repair very quickly. They will destroy any housing we put them in. They are like semi zombies, and not mentally capable to live in organized manner.
Crazy is as crazy does
If they are on your property then drag them off, if they resist then do what ever to protect your property
i would pancake syrup and dog shit where they are

We don't care about solving the homeless problem. We have our own things to focus on. We just don't want it in our neighborhood.

We have yet to understand the saturation of homelessness is only the water's edge at our feet. Beverly Hills have homeless people. Don't move, for no matter where you move homeless people will be there first.

Just because there are homeless people in a city full of yuppy whimps doesn't mean there's bums everywhere haha. There aren't homeless in neighborhoods of people that give a crap about their neighborhood and the safety of their property and children.

Can't help people that do not want to be helped... I'm all for helping these folks out but they need to seek it. Also, if they aren't making a mess or bothering me (or others), I'll leave them alone.
You must not be mentally ill. These people do want help they want to live normal you think they want to be outside in this cold? They'll get up and do something it took me 10 years and everybody kept telling me what you need to do this you need to do that you need to do this so you need to do that. But would somebody actually came and held my hand and offered me their car so I could doordash and Uber that's when the ball started rolling for me I just needed help now I have my own car

Same thing happened to Denver. Welcome to a liberal city.
Yeah , America used to be managed a whole lot better . The word homeless didn't even show up in the vocabulary until around 1985 when they shut down the mental hospitals .
"Since homelessness doesn't discriminate"
Homelessness does discriminate. If you have a job and know how to manage money, you aren't going to be homeless. Obviously, the more you make, the better your housing will be, but it takes a basic job to stay off the streets.
You have no idea what you're talking about. A private organization can do whatever they want regardless of what the federal government is doing. You have a constitutional right to run your business as you see fit, provided it doesn't discriminate against a protected class. Junkies are not a protected class.
I don't need to do anything to help the homeless. It's literally not my job to do that. I have myself to worry about. I'm not about to put in extra work in my life so I can maybe help someone who sleeps all day and gets drunk when they wake up. I don't care to help the homeless.
Stop throwing people out, for more money, and they wont be homeless!

Wont fix homeless until the housing market isn't rigged to be sold overseas investors and large firms which is why rent is so high because of them back in 40 and 60s is why for bedroom homes were so cheap because of the regulations keeping large firms and foreign investors from buying all the homes but politicians said we can make money off it and removed all the regulations
