I've never been on an airplane before but Air Jamaica was my favorite airline, just seeing those beautiful birds in the skies just gives you a sense of pride in this little island. I really do miss that airline. No other airline can compare to Air Jamaica. Thank you so much for this video brings back so much memories.
I'm sure you will get your chance to take to the skies but now is not a good time. These inconsistent Covid restrictions have completely stolen the joy of air travel. On a personal note, I wish they'd hurry and create a mind-scanning apparatus with electrodes that connect to your memories and records what you once experienced in your life. My very unforgettable Air Jam trips would one of my first request to bring back.
Remember my first trip on AJ to Toronto, May 1976, such a proud moment, remembered also when Laura Oates was introduced on a flight to Miami, the passengers cheered. Those were the days. They never should have ended.
Man, I don't know where you found these footage, but thanks for sharing! The 340 and 310s brings back memories, it looks like Air Jamaica is still flying today. Love those up close looks... I miss Air Jamaica, and gets disappointed every time I fly these days. No service or hospitality, unless you're flying 1st cla$$... In the mean time, I'll continue to dream & watch these videos, and hope to see the Lovebirds back in the skies again one day!
Lol...these are 96% from own personal stock (after like 5 trips to Jamaica) and trust me I made each trip count hanging out at the edge of MBJ's runway and dodging security at Kingston to get the shots there Thank you for the great compliment, I know a lot more people than myself (like you) miss the Air JAM experience, this is why I put this out to share with all those who remember!
Thank you for this! Brings back many memories. I was crew with both Express and Air J and flew on all of these birds including the Shorts 360 but my favourite was 'The big Jamaican'. There was just something about that 340. First flight out of training was to London on it. I miss Air Jamaica and I miss the camaraderie of former colleagues who made the job fun!
You are very welcome Natalie, I'm sorry I just saw your comment far much later than I should have (thanks YT notification failure) I( was hoping a few JM person would notice because I knew it would 'light their fire'... exactly as I had hoped! And you are absolutely correct about the camaraderie aboard every JM flight and the excellent service and vibe you and your peers extended to everyone...making all flights enjoyable! I am still angry at myself for letting the Big Jamaican slip by me...but I'm happy to have shot it in Mo'Bay, KIN and London-Heathrow. @@Starboard76 It is such a lovely tribute. @32:20, where were you? Every time I watch I am puzzled as to where you were (Near Sandals?) and also are you a pilot or just an aviation enthusiast? My first plane ride EVER was on AJ (KIN - JFK) in 1986 on the A300! I remember the entire experience as if it were only yesterday! I remember the movie they showed (Back To The Future), I remember the brownstew chicken with R&P dinner and the fruit punch. I was so happy to finally go on Air Jamaica. Sorry but Caribbean Airways can NEVER deliver the same feeling AJ did. I vow that if I ever get filthy rich (fingers crossed lol), I'll get Jamaica a national carrier again and I want it to have the BLACK/GOLD/GREEN as the livery colors in some way shape or form, doesn't have to cover the whole plane but the flag colors must be a part of the external decor. And I want you to!..lol, just kidding but that is a helluva compliment Russell! Thank you man! But as a warning, since I've got tons more material to come (you've only seen like 1 or 2%), I could end my days at my editing desk and you watching what I can churn out. I feel like Air Jamaica was a huge airline for such a small island. I think they got too big/inefficient and the 2008 financial crisis was the final nail in the coffin. Caribbean airlines did their best managing Air Jam, but it just didn't worked out financially. Sad, I'll never forget Air Jamaica, thank you for this footage!

One thing for sure I do know about Air Jamaica Pilots and that is no matter what size Aircraft, they landed so smoothly and that's a true sign of well trained Pilots. Another thing which I hardly see anyone mentioned and that is whether behind the ticket counter, or in the skies the women are so beautiful. Third Air Jamaica has one of the most beautiful colors and it's like looking at the Aircrafts you just can't take your eyes off them whether on the ground or in the air, it's so special to watch.
Our beautiful Airline had the opportunity of flying a return flight on Air Jamaica mbj to Hato Curacao Netherlands Antilles direct flight and back to mbj. It was awesome...
