Can a simple wire fix this Playstation 2's no display issue?

Unless the PS2 has been set to use component cable? That will cause a black screen even when using composite… I just can’t remember the combination you have to press but online there are guides to walk through it somewhere :)

Going for that array resistor directly was a surprise for me xD What I'd do would be checking the video pin from the AV port with an oscilloscope to see if there's any signal, and then going back and back following an schematic until you arrive at a point where you can actually see the video signal; that'd mean that last component you checked is the culprit.
btw if you want to do hardcore things, you could use those SMD resistors but in vertical so they won't overlap with next one XD (please don't)
Oh that's great advice. I don't have an oscilloscope, it might be a little beyond what I normally do but perhaps one day I'll get one. I'm not sure my hand is steady enough to try soldering the resistors on their sides but now that you mention it you've made me want to try lol.
@@FixMoreWasteLess An oscilloscope is pretty expensive and it took me some years to decide to expend money on one (Rigol DS1202Z-E). I definitely have no idea about how to use it properly yet xD But it's being so helpful even for just checking video signals.

Hi my ps2 does have sound but no display i tried the down up down3x then x still nothing happened tried also another tv but nothing happened

I had a ps2 5 years ago stop putting out video. I just pulled it out the closet a week ago and it works again. LONG but easy fix, lol

have you ever found a slim ps2 which starts to display only after a while (when it gets warm)? I found mine doing it after taking it out of storage, it's a 70004 model. When cold the disc spins but slowly, and no audio/video works. After getting warm, audio/video comes on and the console works just fine.
No that's a weird one. Maybe the A/V port isn't making good contact with the board when cold and then as it heats up and expands a bit the contact improves enough for the signal to come through? Does the port feel flimsy or are any of the through hole pins looking cracked or broken? If so try touching them up with solder and see if that helps.

@eWasteLess the port seems alright, i tried to move the av cable in it with no change (also tried a different cord). The whole PS2 seems half dead when the display isn't working, because even if the CD spins it never goes into high speed, and no audio comes through. I'll have a better look in the weekend, i suspect maybe some solder joint is broken around the memory / bios?

@@chocomochino I found out after a while it was the bios chip being broken, not solder joints or surrounding components...heating up only that specific chip (touching it with a hot piece of metal) brings the console back to life. I did in fact place a resistor heating up on top of it and it makes it work
