    i used to operate a plastic injection mold machine in a factory. the excess is called flashing. we trimmed it with a curved horse hoof knife. your products look as good as the ones out of a half million dollar machine, just not as fast.

    Hey I would love this project to be started here in India as we have a lot of issues with plastic been thrown everywhere (literally). But I'm thinking whether it'll work out or not.

    Stunning result, however.. Could you just estimate the sheer cost of a single bowl, please? After all the drawings, welding, heating, sending, etc etc, my guess is that it cannot be sustainable.

    • @eugenetswong

      I think that it would be expensive. It is good for only prototyping and custom work. For custom work, I imagine that it could theoretically be cheaper.
      Now that they have these molds, I don't understand why they don't sell the bowls and keep making more. Maybe they could rent them out.

    What kind of laser cutter machine did you use to make the parts for the mould(s)?
    If somebody makes this laser cut moulds profesionally how much will such moulds cost?
    Is there another way to make this kind of moulds (without the necessity to weld the parts together, afterwards)?

    Why do not you use branding-iron instead of coin? You can warm that easily and fast in induction coil, for example. This is just so inpractical.

    Hi, i have a solution for molding stuffs, here in the you tube are many tutorials teaching how to build a cnc with arduino, it's easy to build one, you can use a block of plastic and designe the molde in autocad or other software, and then mill the block to transform into a mold to make stuffs....It's just an idea.

    • @Krommandant
      @Krommandant 6 років тому

      The process itself is mostly irrelevant though. Whether it's laser, CNC, water-jet, or machining, the outtake is that the mould has to be precise.

    Hi, dave, eduardo here from Costa Rica, I am in the process to get involve in this project, every video is a motivation class for me. I have a question, I have differents types of plastic(1-2-3-4-5-7) is there a problem if I mix all types together, for example number 1 and numer 2 to get these bowls or I must use a specific type, for example only number 2, thanks for this amazing idea.

    • @crunchworks22
      @crunchworks22 6 років тому +1

      No. There are some specific mixes used in industry such as 20%PP + 80%HDPE, but generally speaking you shouldn't mix your plastics. Mixing colors is fine and fun though!

    • @eduardoempresario
      @eduardoempresario 6 років тому

      so you recommend use for example if a want to build a bowl only number 2, or number 1, of course I can mix differents colors but using the same type of plastic

    Cómo fabricarían "cajas de viaje para motos"...
    De plástico reciclado y que fueran muy pero muy ligeras....???? Para motos de baja cilindrada y de bajo costo...ya que... las que hay en el mercado...son de precios muy altos y solo las fabrican para motos de alto cilindraje...en mi país...hay mucho mercado para este tipo de productos...sin embargo la mayoría de los posibles clientes que tienen motos de bajo cilindraje...no cuentan con los recursos para obtener cajas que hay en el mercado por sus altos costos....que opciones encontrarían uds...???? Y como se podría solucionar o que idea se les ocurre para fabricarlas con bajo costo y qué a la vez sean de uso rudo ( esto en caso de caídas en moto fuesen resistentes)...???

      You can melt PP at a point of 180 °c if you have some PA with glasfiber you have to Start at 270°c

    Is there a video which shows the plastic melting process before it is in put into the mold? Is it purely one plastic (e.g./HDPE) or are you guys mixing? Is the method for melting down HDPE the same as melting down the polystyrene?

    • @mathijs0701

      No mix because than you create a low quality product which is not recyclable anymore. The method for HDPE and PS is the same, only different temperatures.
