A lot of work and a lot of wastes. You can easily optimise this process. First, try to weigh the plastic so that you don’t get much flashing. This will make the finishing process much easier. Make sure the barrel is heated up when you add the plastic, this will reduce the cycle time. Try to get a pneumatic press for injection, this will greatly help with the injection process and make the whole thing more easier and you’ll get a nicer final product. This is because, when you inject using your weight, it does not inject the plastic with an equal injection pressure. By using a pneumatic injection unit, you can make sure the injection pressure is equal. Finally, if you can’t do any of the above, when you see the flashing, keep the pressure on it. It called dwell time in the cycle. It’s usually done for 2-3 seconds (for products that small). Here you don’t have to push the plunger, but don’t take it out. Keep it at the current position for a while. This will reduce the shrinkage which reduces the warping.
Thank you so much for all of that suggestions! I've just started doing that and there is always planty of room for improvements that I should implement. First of I will need to find a replacement for those quick release skewers, which right now does the average job :P
I strongly recommend getting a deburring tool! Look them up in amazon, there are as cheap as $5 and could save you from getting injured with the blade.
If you could give the mold a high relief so that the coaster would have a low relief and could contain condensation from the cold glasses, that would be great. Excellent work!
I have to agree with you while this looks awesome the condensation is just gonna run down the glass and still end up on the surface you are trying to protect with the coaster.
I enjoyed it..wish to have a small unit at my residence premises. Need support of machine and technology. One machine for shredding and one for moulding various small items. Can be coasters for corporate gifts, toys of building block type. Small tikes for garden fencing or garden poles.for garden etc. Or any place more load is not existing
There are few processes where you take the cutoff material and reuse it. I love this kind of recycling. More like this needs to be done where we recycle all the plastic for reuse. That will keep oceans and lakes free of plastic that is threatening not only fish, whales, and dolphins, but also birds, seals, etc who get tangled up or ingest the plastic.
Fun fact over 90% of plastic in the sea comes from 10 rivers which are in Aisa and Africa Europes plastic waste which is throw in the water is reall small due to the fact that EU contries have way better waste indsutry then compared to India or China
I was thinking about the roof tiles. I am not sure how this material would behave fully exposed to sun and weather. And whether it would be fireproof like it might be required. But it would be just so cool to have it turned into light durable roof tiles. I also know about company making cool looking floor tiles from plastic garbage and concrete mix. So if floor tiles are possible, bathroom or roof ones should be too. Just a question of technology.
Trust me you dont want PE as bathroom tiles thet stuff sucks up smells and wont dry as fast as normal Keramik making yore bathroom smell like a swamp ,if you still want to use plastic go vor pvc

I agree but I make both types (out of concrete) and people buy more te flat ones even if as you mentioned, water condensation over flows the coasters
Nice to see this being done locally!
Very nice. Hoping to see more out of your studio.
These are awesome. Don't listen to the negative folks, pay attention to the folks that think you are doing great!
Perfecto para combinar con el sistema BRICKARP COLOMBIANO. Animo Mundooooo .😇😇😇😇😇😇

Felicitaciones!
Bendiciones y abrazos desde Colombia!🇨🇴

Great idea.. and love it...
Hey Doba! How did you make your fume eliminator machine? Love how compact it is!
These are wonderful, and I love the paper wrapping on them! I need a PDF of that file haha

You're my idol dude! Your home-made plastic injection machine is great!
Haha! Thanks man! It was made with help of a local welder here in Edinburgh!
Those are beautiful. Very smart idea. :)
Just got our injection machine - what temps did you find work best for PP and HDPE?
Loved it! Is it possible to get the template for the package? it´s so simple and yet so beautiful!
Ended up very good
For a school business thing i'm melting hdpe lids to make keychains and this is helpful to me :))

maybe you can use as tiles on floors or walls
what about making wall and floor tiles like this

Can we melt HDPE and PP plastics together?
Yes, different ratio makes out different properties though
that cast you push the plastic into is it possible to get a square one 14in by 4in?

I takes around 6-7 minutes for one
When a coasters is made for each glass, will you switch to the production of coasters for coasters?

there is no chemical leak when using it, right?

How we can get that machine if wanna start this activities??
I never see manual plastic injection before. You should use hydraulic press
What this use for ?
You can make roof sheets from this
add vents to your mold 1mm will do way less flash
how can i buy that machine
