Did your friend install the entire kit onto a new truck or was it off the factory warranty? Also was a custom tune required after installation to keep the check engine light off? I ask because i am looking at the whole kit as well and am hearing that a tune is and is not required. I know people do the tune on these trucks with the entire system because they want to maximize the power out of it. But what about if the truck is still on warranty, will it void if a tune is done?
@@toomuchbeer07 The truck was brand new at the time, had maybe 2,000 miles on it. Stainless Works was nice enough to bring the truck to a shop and put it on the dyno. The shop also put a tune on it to take off the CEL. You will need some kind of tune to not have a CEL, no way around it. Voiding the warranty is completely based on your dealer. I've worked on cars at my dealer with aftermarket parts and we still covered repairs, others we didn't. From my personal experience an exhaust is not going to void anything unless you have issues with a CEL that may be related. For example if you go in for a noise in the suspension I wouldn't void your warranty for an exhaust. Obviously each dealer is different. My advice is that if you are that worried about voiding the warranty, then don't get anything that could compromise it.
@@Grifter371 My F250 is new as well. Bought it last June. Just over 10,000K on it. I already confirmed with the dealer that the warranty would not void with the exhaust system. The only thing they seem particular about was a Ford dealership installing it which i can see. The important question is whether the dealership had a issue with your friend doing the tune on it because of the long tubes setting off the CEL? Was the tune allowed or did your friends dealership have a issue with the tune and did or wanted to void the warranty? Also, what tune did he do? Love the sound and performance gains with the addition of the SW Headers and exhaust on my 2014 F350. I had to cut some of the pipe down to fit my regular cab dually, but it is worth it!
I had the full exhaust put on my 2011 crew cab 4x4 and it sounds awesome. Did you run into any fitment issues around the transmission pan? Mine vibrates and rubs against the pan at idle once the truck is warmed up. The buzzing sound is annoying.
@@danielrobinson4227 , no fitment issues like you're speaking of. I had to cut several of the pipes to make mine fit on my regular cab long bed which its not intended to be used on. The cat. Pipes could be loosened and you should have enough adjustment room to move it around. One thing I want to note is the spare tire shield vibrated and it caused an irritating metallic humming noise so I removed it and no other issues. Be sure all the pipes have clearance between them , especially the two over the axle so it doesn't come in contact with one another. Let me know.

From what I’ve read it does no good to have headers with cats. If you remove the cats and resonators then it throws codes and you lose some low end torque. Talk to your service writer at the Ford dealer and he will explain it all. No performance gains to be had with the cats left on no matter what you do to the exhaust.
