Nice video thanks! So hyperspin frontend will do the automatic 4/8 switching for you? I thought LED blinky was required running in the background to do the switching based on the game you picked... cheers

What I was trying to convey is that they work hand in hand. It is LED Blinky that controls the actual switching of the 4 to 8 way along with the LED lighting effect. If you are not using LED Blinky you would have to create a manual switch for it to work. So Yes you are correct, thank you for the clarification.

Hello I purchased the Ikari warriors upgrade kit and was thinking of getting the servo stick to use with it. Can you do a video on a full install and all the parts needed to get the servo stick and the Ikari Warriors upgrade kit to work on a pc using Mame ?

Does this joystick fit in a Japanese setup cabinet? I mean if the arcade wooden cabinet is made for a Sanwa joystick can this joystick be mounted without any modification to the cabinet?

    1) I bought 4 servostiks and 2 servo control boards... Does servostik orientation matter? I don't know if the motor for Player 2 will fit unless I turn it long side up.
    2) If I can turn it long side up and it still does not fit right, do I absolutely need to use the motor for Players 3 and 4? Or can I simply just save those 2 motors and that 2nd control board, and use the servosticks without them, and change 4/8 way manually when needed?

With the ServoStiks they only work properly with two joysticks and one ServoStik Control Board any more than two ServoStiks and two ServoStik Control Boards and you will have issues with the motor not activating randomly. If you use two ServoStik Control Boards like I did to have them in sync and to distribute the power to the USB ports one of the motors will not activate randomly. Also, I had to sand the restrictor plate and motor arm as they would catch when turning due to the manufacturing process which caused dents on the bottom of the restrictor plate. I also had to sand down the sides where the restrictor plate pushes against as it was too tight and would not allow the restrictor plate to turn freely, loosening the screws did not work and one of the black wires on the motor was not soldered and had to be soldered. The thread 'ServoStik Review' on ArcadeControls forum back in 2013 is a good starting point if you have issues.

I am a fan of Arcade games and specially love the game Gyruss . the original cabinet uses was is called a Monroe joystick. which modern joystick resembles the Monroe stick so I can Play the game as supposed to play? because my 8 way does not goes around like it's supposed to go.

How many usb slots does 2 joystick + the control motor need ?
How are the directions detected? as keyboard keys as well as with jpac or ipac? or as an USB gamepad/joystick ?

The control motor just uses 1 USB port, the sticks use microswitches jut like your buttons so they would map out with same controls as well.

I came across this video and your microswitch video, and am curious. Would it be possible to us the USB connection solely for power, while using a button and microswitch to toggle modes in hardware mode? I'm trying to see if anyone has done this and am having no luck.

Hi, what your talking about is completely do-able. The USB can just power the servos and you can have just a button set up on your CP or somewhere accessible that you just press to change from 4 way to 8 way. I recommend looking at the Ultimarc website and downloading the servostick software to see how it works. It can be set to manual (Button press) or automatic in your front end to change when a specific game is chosen.

I may have missed a comment confirming this on this video... But does this thing offer just a simple push button activation for the gate swap? From what I saw it pretty much just requires the PC program to activate these things.

Retro Active Arcade. I am really surprised that they did not design in a pushbutton function to that product. That seems like a no brainer. I'm sure that the program is great if you want to go through and program every single game on what type of gate uses.

    • @RetroactivearcadeCa

Nexus of ice you can just use a pushbutton for it if you want to, it just needs 5v power, a momentary switch will work.

Retro Active Arcade. Yeah I was thinking about wiring up one myself. It just seems really odd that they wouldn't package that with the unit.

    • @RetroactivearcadeCa
      @RetroactivearcadeCa  4 роки тому

The joystick will work but the servo stick solenoid will only work if you hook up a seperate button with power to it to switch it manually. It will not do it automatically, it needs mame in a computer and a seperate program called led blinky to use it properly.

Your prices are decent, but I live in the US and your shipping is outrageous. E.g., the Mag-stik is $42 CAD plus $40 CAD shipping. Shipping from Holland Computers for the same product is $16 US and they are in Europe. Aren't there more reasonable shipping options from Canada - we're on the same continent for Pete's sake!

Im getting a control made for me by someone else. Does the orientation of where the motor sits matter. I see in this video, both are on the left of the joystick. Is that the optimal place to put it?

@@jeremysmith9131 you can do anything you want with these sticks. It is all in the way you wire ther connector location that matters, not the orientation of the stick itself. As for 3 & 4 player controls, there aren't any games that utilize 4 way only so you can leave that off.

It will not work automatically, meaning you will not be able to program it to change when specific games are selected. You would have to install a button to press to manually change from 4 way to 8 way. So yes it will work.
