- This video demonstrates how to attack from the "door stop" side control position. This is a great entry into a Kimura, an armbar, and the very deceptive Scissor Choke! This is bread and butter stuff! Check out the details and you are sure to find something useful! Enjoy! If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please comment below. More videos to come! White one stripe here, hit this scissor on a purple he was just going to defend the kimura, and wasn’t scared of my armlock. Let it be known, as soon as we reset, I think he choked me a thousand times in the last 5 minutes of our roll, good times excellent series, you earned a sub from this guy.
Hahaha!!! Way to go! I’m so proud! 😈
I had a purple belt teach this and a few other attacks off the kimura trap. Went to a new gym and attempted the head scissors on a black belt who let me grab the kimura grip. He tucked his chin as I went for the choke and I let off when I realized there was no choke so as not to be a dick, but he made me pay for the privilege of almost getting the sub. Who says bjj guys leave the ego off the mat?
😂😂👍
How can one guy know so much?! It's incredible! Coach Peterson is BAWS!
Thanks Adam Sandler works every time ❤
Much love from.germany
Love the dude stops to tell his kids "sshhhhhh". Awesome.
This is my go to sequence. I lost count of the number of times I have submitted people from this. I love the scissor lock option if you can’t get them to release their hands. I actually had one tap just from the pressure of me squeezing my knees into his back/chest. Once again, thank you!
I love this movement series. You’ve demonstrated how many small things there are to master, turning it into an almost unstoppable progression. But also how effective it can be from a novice’s level of application. Thanks for this video.
Amazing details! You're such a good teacher. You make me understand the mechanism so that I may not need to waste my strength for nothing.
Took gold in my first tournament as a white belt last month using that scissor choke @6:10
Hell yeah!
I didn’t know Adam Sandler knew jiu jitsu lol jk great stuff
My god, I can't NOT see Adam Sandler now... but I like Adam Sandler well enough and the move is great so, all is good!
I thought the same 😂
Yeah, I saw it too.
I hate when I get all ready to drop a clever comment, and it's already the top one.
Aaaah lol that's who I recognized in him but forgot who it was
I’ve hit this exact sequence hundreds of times - FANTASTIC for bigger opponents. A lot of nuances I never thought of though that I’ll be incorporating - thank you!
I love your attitude coach! Fun to watch videos while there is plenty of nuances explained in the best way
I have caught this on opponents so many times, occasionally end up on there jaw and just like coach says, it really pisses your training partner off lol. It's good to go back and go over details. Cheers coach.
I love this progression! I watched this video and hit the scissor choke twice in the next class.
I was in this position recently, i found his head underneath me while i was in that kneeling position i simply threaded my leg through onto my resting leg and basically tri angled his head head by effectively sitting down using only my legs, it was very effective. Its like Billy Robinson used to say "i'm not teaching you how to wrestle i'm teaching you how to learn", in other words once you have spent the time and learned the basics you actually start to understanding what is possible.
These are always on point. Thanks.
I learn this move 6 years ago nothing new to me. It a great move for catching upper ranks with.
Yes it is very basic... works awesome.
Awesome details on the scissor choke! I almost always end up just crushing their face more than choking, I'm gonna try that next class!
always good to see the full move then the slow elemental break down
I’m going to study this video every day I train. This, and the ghost escape video you put out have revolutionized how I deal with side control. Thanks coach!
For all who don't understand the leg choke, the bottom leg goes on top!!
Yep! 👍
Awesome stuff! I get to this position often! High success with kimura/armbar against smaller guys and guys my size but tough against bigger stronger guys. Can’t wait to try this!! Wonderful channel!
Im gonna watch this 1000 times
I love using the scissor if someone is in my guard to cause them to pause and potentially make a mistake. This is a great way to use it for a choke!
This is a really good video. Thanks master.
I did this exact choke from north south to a blue belt that had 40lbs on me, I nearly broke his neck...very deadly position. Be careful with your training partner.
Michael-Tommy De Rita Woow, good advice! 👊
You should always be... how did you nearly break his neck, anyways? Jerk like motion with the legs?
Superb instructions, thanks!
Great details, Brian. Just keep up the good work of spreading good jiu-jitsu. :)
My wife is so good at that scissor choke its ridiculous!lol Super effective though
Steve MacInnis Yup she does.Purple belt
Steve MacInnis nah
I mostly see women have success with it #sexist

"“Want a lift?” “Nah, that's okay.”"
Sam Jones - If a guy asked her to do it on him, would you allow it?
Thanks Coach Brian. Fantastic instruction as usual.
Loving all the top and bottom side control videos. How about a North-South escape tutorial??
Can’t wait to get to it but I have more on my plate right now. Soon!
I really wish there was training like this where I live. Great stuff!
Got my first sub with this today! An ugly armbar that took 3 minutes to finish. Then he kicked my ass. Worth.
Great vid full of golden nuggets. Can't wait to try em out
Great videos
I am determined to start hitting that scissor choke ! Thx !
Great vid, I'll try it! Specially for women it'll be effective against some big guys 👊🇧🇷
Nice detail bro !!
Love this sub thank you for the details I was missing I can’t wait to try it now with the details!!!!! OSS and thank you again!!!
I'm "low level" and wondered about why people use different side mount positions. Thanks.
Well by changing the position of your arms or hips, it changes the control and allows for different submission entries and transitions. The “doorstop” is an easy way to stay out of the guard and attack for north south choke, kimuras, armbars, and darces.
My first competition this Sunday at coming up.
Gold.
"Please don't kill anybody" 😂
😜
Awesome vid, thx
Toll erklärt. Danke!
Choke (leg) under the pillow(leg) got it!, just like smothering someone in their sleep!
Hahaha that’s awesome!
If you're rolling with neck cranks you can get a crank from head scissor if they tuck the chin by rolling toward your belly
Awesome. i like the details.
This is a great video. I’m just a white belt but I’ve already used this successfully a number of times.
One problem I run into is their arm blocking me from getting into north south. Does anyone have a counter to that?
Adam Hickey Back em up to Darce
Tasty moves man 🤙🤙🏴🏴
i love it
this move is strong
the door stop is life. use that to go around the world with different osaekomi
I want juste to tel you Thanks .

TeachMeGrappling Coach Brian Thanks. I'll visit you one day. I'm actually in California right now but going back to London on Tuesday but I'll drop by if time permits next time I'm in California. Thanks and keep up the good work.
This is my go to ! I also throw my leg over to get the tarikoplata if my first 2 options don’t work
Really Big thx for this tech. (it is only me or this Coach remeber me : Adam Sandler ? )
Hahaha... that’s what’s I hear!
Sofien Letaief Adam Skandler all day
Yesss I thought that the whole time
Great Video, thank you
Got my sub with this 1..
So sneaky!!!
If you stay higher up on the head when your scizoring his head. You fall into a straight head scizor, then you could turn it into a neck wristlock combo
Do a video about triangle choke from side control and reverse triangle please.
Triangle choke from top side control or bottom side control?
TeachMeGrappling Coach Brian bottom
I will get to it.
More vids please
I subscribed because of the intro techno song
Great thank you! It’s my own!
Great detail well explained, you are a great coach.
4:25 to 5:30
Always keep your kimura grip.
Hey Boy's ssh! 🤣
Wow you're trending?
The secret is out!
Is that an HT Strength Rotorua shirt?! 😮
👍
ok, stupid question but for years this has nagged at me, when you go to do that head sit kimura, how do you prevent your testicles getting bit?
Does the door stop position for side control prevent the ghost escape from working ?
Yes!
Is this catch wrestling?
No... I prefer not to call what I do catch. However grappling is grappling. If you want to use my jiu-jitsu for catch Wrestling go right ahead!
Adam Sandler vs Eddie Bravo
👍👍👍💯💯💯
Dont think that choke would more on high lvl guys better off going for a arm bar
Yep most of the time... but there is always a time for both.
Hmm, it's not quite clear towards the end how you're exposing his chin or how your "pillow" helps this
Too much "balls to face" contact for me
🤷♂️
I made a tee related to side control. Check it! teespring.com/stores/preshr
Most of that is wrong
super video, but i´m quite sure you´re an illegitimate brother of adam sandler ;)
good.
we need more bjj vedio plz.
