      Why mongo got
I was shooting with a friend. We had shot 4 or 5 different rifles. I then shot this rifle and my friend thought I was missing until I told him how much further I was shooting. It took me 3 shots to walk my group in I put the last 2 and another magazine in a 12 inch group at what my friend laser ranged at 983 yards.

Picked one up recently, walnut stock in .243 for $750. I still think it's a good deal between the rifle itself and the optic, but would've been nice to get one a few years back 😂

@@rileylabski I shopped gunbroker and have not fired it yet, so don't know if it has the consistency problem that some have.
I am done buying guns for a while. It gets addictive. On gunbroker I set up watchlists to see how high they go and then wait for one in unfired condition to show up. If it is just after a bunch of others sold, sometimes the highest bidders are exhausted and I get one for a deal.
Got a Sako 270 with scope this way for 900.
Bang-flop on a stout eight pointer at 150yd. Open and close the season with one shot.
      Used cheap Federal powershok 130gr.
243 is a nice efficient cartridge. In the right hands take a black bear with it.

I bought a Patriot Kryptex 22250 on Black Friday '23. Upon receiving it I noticed the safety blade in the trigger stuck and wouldnt fire until after I released the trigger. I sent it for warranty and was replaced.
Last week Ì received it back and the invoice said trigger was replaced and they fired 4 shots testing it.
When I got it back I ran a brush and cleaner through it and tried my borescope through it.
What I saw looked like Swiss Cheese. GALLING PITS from improper button rifling and the deepest chatter marks believable.
I took pics and sent then to Mossberg.
    RESPONSE
IT WAS INSPECTED IT SHOOTS. It's safe to shoot. ITS NORMAL.
HILARIOUS that a firearms company's standard is it shoots without blowing up.

I have about 25 hunting rifles ranging from a Kimber Adirondack to an H&R Handi rifle so I needed another hunting rifle like I needed another hole in my head. I just couldn't pass up this Mossberg Patriot for $237 without a scope and ordered one in .30-06 last night. I have a spare Leupold Freedom scope in 3-9X40 that I'll put on this rifle and hopefully after doing some reloading and range work it will get placed in the hunting rifle rotation. Thanks KGC for another great buy.

Hunting Deer, Prairie Dogs, elk and Caribou is very similar to sniper procedures. The hunter conceals themselves and waits for a shot. I find the Vortex Scope Lacking in distance compensation. I use Nikon, caliber specific scopes with BDC calibration right on the vertical post. Nothing against Vortex however one does not get top of the line scope in a package deal.

The barrels on these thread into the receiver but use a Savage 110 style external lock nut collar. This does the same thing for Mossberg that it did for Savage and allows for very precise control of minimum headspace at the factory, They just screw the barrel into the action on a headspace gauge until it stops and then secure it in place with the external lock nut.

I know this is a bit older video and i didnt buy this exact model of rifle although it is a Patriot its the Youth Super Batam chambered in 7mm-08. It also comes with a scope but it dosnt specify what kind?Since its now 1/30/2021 and the rifle has just two days ago or so left the factory for my local FFL so i have not ha d a chance to look it over in person yet? I have also looked around for maybe a couple of 10rd mags for it as well but cant seem to even find the factory 5rd mags it comes with right now ,anyway?hehe people are getting a bit feverish! Also i should have purchased some ammo for it when i purchased the gun because while it was plentiful at the time of my long gun purchase its now, been all bought up?lol once again people are going a bit crazy.I live in such a blue state i cant get big companies like Bass Pro/Cabela's or Sportsmansguide and a few others to even mail ammo to my front door? Its not illegal,at least not yet so idk why they are caving to the left already on any of this? They should be giving Ame4ricans the chance ot protect them selves if they wish and not lose customers in the process.I was a paid customer for 3yrs at SG and will be deleting my account once this last firearm purchase from them and its finalized. You see while i had some money and was looking for an AR upper since i had 200bucks in gift cards to SG from X-Mas and a couple more in my pocket i was going for an upper for the last bald lower i have in my cabinet.Well i found out the hard way that SG wont mail anything AR15 related to my state of N.J.......?Not any of the firearms or its sum of its parts in any way shape or form. Then on top of that i decided to buy a nice Savage .22WMR rifles with a scope and accu-trigger.It would have been about the same price i paid for the Mossberg Super Bantam i purchased chambered in 7mm-08. So i get my confirmation of order then 5mins later get an email that everything on my order(but) the Trigger could be sent. Like i could just cancel the trigger part of my order since it was installed in the damn gun!?! So i had ot wait until they canceled my order so i could get my cards and bank card paid back.....Well needless to say every last long gun i had on my list from semi-auto to blots and shotguns. even lever guns and single shots. All of them were now out of stock by the time i was refunded..... :>/ So i waited and waited for something on my list to purchase it before Biden has a chance to freeze ot stop all sales of guns!!!!? So at least at this point its in the mail on the way to my FFL and i can get it , I pray before biden can stop any sales of new guns.Hell i already have one long gun at the same FFL dealer lol Also a bolt gun in .22LR and a bolt gun that came with a brake.Well guess what ,we cant have those either! So i had to order a comp for them to (WELD AND TAP) onto my barrel making it so if i ever want to take it off to clean or replace/adjust it ,I would have to lose some barrel length each time! So in any case the new rifle is a 5R button rifled barrel and has a recessed target crown on a heavy profile barrel! I think that along with a factory installed scope,3x9x40 should be a damn good shooter? Even if it is ill be getting a nice Boyds or MDT stock for it? LOLthanks great video!

Mike Gaudet I’m blessed to live in WV... due to the COVID19, we have shot through approximately 800 rounds of .223 (2 ARs) and 1000 rounds of 9mm (hand guns and a CZ Carbine), not to mention hunting rifles. My four children and I have taken this “time off” to expand our little range at the farm. We now have created a pistol range that has targets out to 50 yards and a rifle range that has targets out to 440 yards.
It has really brought us together as a family. My youngest (10 year old daughter) can hit steel @ 300 yards as well as her three brothers. They have all become proficient on AR platforms, lever actions, and bolt action rifles. My oldest two sons have become better shots than I am with a handgun. All three of them can hit steel at range with open sights... I wish my eyes could still focus out that far.✌🏽

Mauser bolt? No thanks. I'd rather have the Patriot's with it's floating bolt head and Remington 700 style anti-bind architecture, personally, and I think the spiral-fluted bolt gives my walnut-stocked Patriot a distinctive up-market bit of bling.

    • @jerroldshelton9367
      @jerroldshelton9367 4 роки тому +2

@@OdeeOz I'd accept that comment if it were true, but it isn't. That floating bolt head is functional, it helps assure even locking lug contact against engagement surfaces. It's part of the reason why Savage 110 rifles and variations on that theme have the reputation for accuracy that they do. The flutes aren't just cosmetic, either. Rifles with long non-rotating claw extractors, like Model 98 Mausers, 1903 Springfieds, CZ 550's and Winchester Model 70s and Ruger M-77's aren't generally prone to "freeze locking" of the bolt in the rear receiver ring to the degree that rifles with a cylindrical bolt body and no big-arse claw extractor on one side, like a Remington 721, or 700, for that matter, are. The spiral flutes prevent that and also reduce bearing surface on the bolt body as it slides through the rear receiver ring. That I think it "looks cool" is just a bonus.
I used to die on the altar of controlled feed and the almighty Mauser claw extractor, but then I had a new-in-box, circa 1950 Remington 721 to cure me of that disease. It turns out that push-feed isn't the sin against nature that I formerly believed to be when extolling the virtues of my old Griffin and Howe Springfield, or the rifles built on commercial '98 Mauser actions I used to shoot, or the CZ 550 and Ruger M-77 MK II. Through all of that ownership, the rifle I used the most was a tang-safety M-77 Ultralight in .250 Savage, which was a push-feeder. I used to think it was kind of stupid to have that Mauser-style extractor and not have the controlled feed to go with it. Once I got my hands on the 721 I just thought it was stupid to make a push-feed rifle with that kind of Mauser claw extractor when a SAKO or M-16 style one would work just as well.
My .270 Patriot, like the old .270 Remington 721 I had, will reliably push-feed out of the magazine regardless of whether the rifle is right-side up, upside-down, sideways..... It doesn't matter. If feeds uber-smooth, extracts positively, and ejects positively, every time. I'm not seeing how a non-rotating Mauser claw is going to add materially to my end user experience with my Patriot.
It's not worth sacrificing the Remington 700 method of anti-bind for. You can't have that and a Mauser claw at the same time. That's part of what makes the Patriot the lightning-quick thing it is for follow-up shots. The only bolt action I've ever shot that was faster was my Elwood Epps sporter built on a No.4 Enfield barreled action, which has been my son's rifle (and the only rifle he cares about) since he was 12.
So, no, it's not a case of "style of function." It's "style AND function". ;)
