Warwick had a more realistic and engaging cinematic 4 years ago than the season 2023 cinematic
Current cinematic feels like an intro to a youtubers vlog minus the narration lol
WW VGU and cinematic released in 2016. 6 years ago not 4. If you count 2023 7 years.
I’m pretty sure riot really really wants to expand past league of legends and there trying to do it not by bit. As more and more IPs come out from riot there hopping something huge grabs on so they can switch the cash cow
haha yeah but the 2023 was better than the 2024
The new WW's sound design is phenomenal too. There's something about the way the normal bgm gets drowned out by low rumbling horns and distant howls that puts you in WW's headspace. The musical cues trigger a primal reaction in the player, not just WW himself. As soon as someone is below 50% you hear that "bwoooomm" and a switch flips, suddenly you're peering around the map to find out where you need to go, it's brilliant. Also not to mention that WW has a voiceline where he just says "meat" and it's probably the best line in the game.
this
THIS. Sound design team for him really went 100%, the mere sound of his footstep while chasing enemies down is so satisfying to hear coupled with his snarls
@@claudionosotti8812 yeah for real, honestly whenever I play him for a while and switch to another champion it just feels like something is missing. No other champion feels as visceral to play.
Meat
I 100% agree. When I started the game and I didn't really know much I was so terrified when I saw that mark above me, the trail and heard the music. I mean I'm still shitting my pants when I'm low and back under tower. I'm still always thinking "yep I'm gonna die" when he activates his w.
Warwick is basically the pinnacle of what reworking a champ should be, they gave him skill expression, flexibility, power, and counterplay all in one while doubling down on his fantasy and keeping almost everything about him generally the same, a lot of the time you get people talking about how much they miss the old champ when they get reworked but there is almost literally nothing to complain about with this one aside from maybe the cosmetic differences
"Counterplay"
Ranged top laners vs warwick:
@@nubidubi23 "counterplay"
Toplaner against warwick
Skill expression😂
@@nubidubi23 you can counter him by just having a two digit iq and not engaging on him while he is half hp or less.I know its crazy right?
@@stecherul8214 then how do you kill him if you are meant to avoid him if he is below 50%
this rework was such a masterpiece on the "roleplay" side of his gameplay (making feel like an ACTUAL chemicaly augmented werewolf with insatiable hunger for blood) that it accidentaly created the classic warwick syndrome. basicaly, you feel SO MUCH like a werewolf hunting for blood when you play him that you might get caught up (just like in game warwick) and just chase the fuck out of whatever is bleeding.
we all know those warwick players who are like this but tbh they have a good reason, playing this champ feels just right and hits that spot in your animal/primal part of your brain that you just get caught in the adrenaline rush of the hunt
THIS. It's always like this whenever I play him. Doesn't matter if the person who is below 50% hp is behind enemy lines, protected by all his teammates, or in the freaking fountain. I would chase the freak out of it out of bloodthirst. LMAO
the adrenaline injection i got from my first blood hunt was incredible, i think only first time ultrakill compared
I keep inting on warwick because of this lmfao
I am a simple man I see a red line pointing at an enemy and I follow it
LOL. Is this why the Warwicks on my team will often hard int by solo ulting into their team just because there's a low health target there? Cuz that's understandable
5:10 actually, there was a good reason to toggle the ability off. Since he didnt smell enemies globally back then but only within a certain radius around himself, and the enemy would be notified if you could smell them, youd turn it off if you wanted to ambush people.
As a Warwick main - I still believe this is the best rework ever made, his W is just perfect
I am WW main and same. I played pre and post rework and completly agree, the compleat design is simple yet complex and full of character.
He's broken. His healing numbers should get lowered or at least made to scale more towards late game and less early
@@user-zb8tq5pr4xNo. You dont want a late healing Warwick. That would just be mundo in worse. He falls off late because he can hardly reach an enemy before dying. And a single instance of q doesnt heals him fast enough to counter damage. All of his pressure concentrates to his ult. If you up his heal, he becomes an unkillable Tank that can assasinate the backline
Ww has had lines showing that he's been tied to Vi and Jinx since the rework. Most notably "You were there" and "Who taught you how to punch!?". WW clearly announced he was their parent or at least teacher since his rework.
I loved playing the old Warwick, because it was so easy to pick up in the jungle (main supp). The new one just feels so satisfying to play though. The hunt and the leap just make you feel like a werewolf chasing down your prey. Very well done Riot!
i only play warwick when i get autofilled top/jungle but whenever i play him i find myself saying insane things to my friends over comms like "I SMELL BLOOD IM ON MY WAY"
i make plays on warwick i never would have made on any other champ just cuz i feel like a ravenous werewolf who wants their prey dead when i play him. love that champ so much
😆
The feeling of running down the rift with Predator boots, ghost, deadman's plate and the cloud Dragon buff while the Blood hunt is activated is so satisfying and immersive. Not to mention the bad-ass lunge to enemies holy moly. The best part is how it feels like we're actually hunting enemies and the enemies knows it too.
add yumi and then use ult
Great hearing things about Warwick's rework. I may not play LoL anymore, but it's cool how much they've improve him from just a very basic champion to a better champion while keeping the core elements that makes him like a werewolf.
Also, nice soundtrack choice, it shows that he's the Divine one.
Can't wait to see your video on Aurelion Sol's rework. His new abilities are awesome and definitely fits his lore more as the literal creator of the cosmos.
Also makes him massively op mid to late so idk how good of a rework it would be considered
Buuuut they also Aatrox’ed him. Though in his case he was problematic despite riot’s balancing, not due to a lack of it like Aatrox
@@jairartistbf, they said they were going to. The main problem with Aatrox rework was that we didn’t know they were scrapping the whole champ.
@@randomcatname7792 Viktor and Syndra have the same concept of scaling. Syndra was a little overtuned on release of her rework but they tuned her numbers and Viktor is pretty balanced. Same will probably go for A. Sol, the only thing I'm worried about is his E execute since his ult stuns people. It should be no higher than 10% hp only.
@@jairartis I wouldnt compare it with Aatrox. A. Sol is a complete change from the old kit with little of the old kit being retained. Only ones really being the reworked flight.
Aatrox still kept a lot of his old concept, just changed how theyre used. He still has knockups, a slow, his ult buffs him, etc. Its jist that they did a drastic change from an auto attack based bruiser to a melee skillshot based one. Also the removal of his free revive but that was broken even on old Aatrox.
This is my favorite rework. I staryed playing league because of Warwick, my first skin was a Warwick skin, my main is, to this date, Warwick so when I heard about the rework I was extremely happy, it is perfection. Hell, the rework landed on my birthday (January 25)
you arent just a ww main anymore, youre THE ww main
I got LoL on in 2018 or 2019, and WW was also my first champ, I loved feeling like a hunter whenever someone had low life
I like that if you miss his R now he goes a bit farther (without it counting towards the range), reflecting the momentum of the leap and the time required for him to adjust to the failed pounce.
The most important point is how they did not change or shred trhe former identity and style but ellaborated on it, taking it to higher highs, by giving player an even more immersive and also more skill expressive way to basically do the same
WW is my fav jung to play, he is always so fun, and the amount of braindead moment i have whenever i hear/see the bloodtrail appearing, its like I NEED to run towards it
If I remember correctly it was Nickyboy who talked about how Warwick when he chases you is on all fours but slows down to attack with his claws slowing him down adding even more detail
Vars designing a video before patch 13.1 to release the day before the patch drops, using the new icon for Jax's e in the update:
I am 4 parallel universes ahead of you
Maybe the best rework they have ever done.
I'd say this, Evelynn and Fiddlesticks are their best works
Warwick was one of the main Reasons why I came back to the Game. I have literally *never* felt as much Immersion into a Champ, than when I was following the Scent of two low HP Enemies cross Map, and jumped blindly into an enemy Turret to finish them off, knowing they had to be there!
Before the rework: Awooo! Woof, Woof!
After the rework: The chains are broken... The beast is free.
You might want to toggle Warwick's old bloodhunt ability off, because it would alert people that you were close to them (and remind them they were low on health) basically revealing your location on the map, which can be kind of a big deal in the jungle.
I'm pretty sure the hints to Warwick's previous life were intentional since they started making arcane at least a year before warwick's rework came out
I love using Q on morde as he ults you and then listening to him as he asks me why his ult didnt go off
WW and ornn cancelling out his ult with a basic ability will always be great to me.
Ww is a super fun champ and very aesthetically pleasing now; that said, when certain items are used in combination with his current kit, it does not feel particularly pleasant to fight him in a 1v1. Same with Trundle (pre-nerfs) and Mordekaiser, they become easily overwhelming by late game in 1v1s against melee champions that are often considered carries (often with minimal investment into the interaction). Solution being that you should not 1v1 them, but having to completely discard a possible strategy (that should be skill based) is not particulaly satisfying. WW passive + on-hit items like bork, morde passive + liandry's/demonic, and Trundle Q + Ult + hydra items are not fun to deal with late game.
Absolutely. They have so many great reworks and Warwick really demonstrates how to do it. Let’s hope they keep it up.
I find it interesting that both of my mains (Warwick and Nunu) happened to be the recipients of extremely good reworks. I also like Fiddlesticks quite a bit too, another of Riot's best reworks. I wonder if that says something, be it about me or VGUs. I know it's not nostalgia, I never had any attachment to those three prior to their reworks. Well, in any case, reworks like these give me hope for all the champs out there that are currently suffering. There's always a chance they could be reworked into something great in the future.
Late to the party but these are my mains too..(including fiddle). Respecting your tastes, obviously.
00:35 production on season 1 took 6 years, so that would have started in 2016, ww vgu released 2017, so could be that this was planned ?
"created one of the most balanced champions in league of legends history" ah yes the 52% wr warwick top for 3 patches in a row with basically no counterplay in lane
please don't come after me warwick mains, I am one of you
3:05 it returned they added briar
he is an amazing champ. plaied him only after the rework but everything in his kit just works and definatly had dominated with his presance and still able to give utility when i was stomped on. not to forget how much of a thrill leaving a fight with more hp then how it started
We just won a 4v5 at Barron with an open nexus and victory was in our grasp
Until the enemy Warwick bought only movement Speed and ulted to our nexus
Lets all be honest.Everyone who has ever ppayed warwick for a reasonable time has growled at least once while chasing down an enemy.
Fiddle and Warwick have indeed the perfect execution for a character as a whole. When you play them you get exactly what to expect. And when you look at them you know exactly what they are. In my bias, I believe Fiddle was better, but Warwick is my nr 2. Evelyn is nr 3, mainly cuz she also represent herself as a demonic, maso thirst trap, right what she is, but her gameplay kinda lacks something, which, im not sure what
Reminds me why I enjoy playing Warwick in the jungle. Good vid homie. 👍
vars should really design his own champion concepts. it would be really cool to say what he comes up with and how well designed they could be :)
So for the arcane forward planning: Riot had a Tweet, now deleted, that said Arcane influenced Warwick's Rework, and Arcane was in production for like 6 years before release, so yeah
Note about old sion, old sion was mostly played as AP, not AD. His big damage came from gaze plus shield burst. AD sion was a niche pick that only worked into super brawly comps that couldn't kite him.
As a Warwick main, i can say, I totaly agree with you. The thing I realy enjoy in thi champ is the fact, you don't need good micro, but good macro to play and be strong. The multifunctionality of hi's abilitys lets yo to not focus on your combos, but focus on your map controll and positioning. In League, I like to win in strategy, not in combat, create situations, where I alvays beat my opponents, and set up a game winning lead, and Ww is perfect for this playstyle.
And this is why my second-favourite champ is Fidlesticks.
Warwick was my furst main and how I learned jungle. He’s awesome.
As a Warwick main, the only complaint I have to his kit is his ult becomes hard to predict where and when will it land due to his movement speed. Depending on how fast he goes the faster his ult travels which often breaks my brain.
What is the OST playing in the background? Would like to know
To the topic, Warwick has always been one of my more fun champs. I love running across the map and getting gank after gank after gank while full clearing in mere moments - dueling the enemy jungler - and just over all staying everywhere and all over the place with not even a completed item. All because I am abusing early game power, where Warwick surprisingly has a strong standing in to set fear in and start snowballing lanes/ keeping control. It isn't easy and doesn't always work - but it is still a fun time to get a good game with Warwick.
No one plays WW? Then Riot really went out and made a whole short film just for me😭
Finally I was waiting for this video for months
been onetricking the champ since his rework in 2017, no regrets here.
As a Warwick main i feel victory
his initials are w w after all
seeing old warwick walking next to bard just feels dystopian somehow. i cant believe how far he's come
7:40 for shyvana, the community kind of reworked her into a ap bruiser or burst mage xD
She still looks like plastic doll and her dragon form is laughable at best
I just realized, the best way to balance champs with dumb %hp and stuff like that is to split it into the “whatever dose more, the flat ok run of the mill dmg or the anti tank scaling option “
Kinda off topic, but I hope xin zhao gets another look at sometime again. His last proto-midscope made him a lot smoother, but between proplay nerfs and a ult that is either broken or mediocre, his pickrate and winrate haven't ended up much better pff than before his midscope.
My first ever main, back when i started playing this game, dtill one of mh fav charecters by gameplay and lore
1st off I just want to say how great this video is. Not just about one of my fav champs, but the amount of info you’ve managed to squeeze into it without losing important points is awesome.
I think their were 2 more reasons for the change to WW. First of all, I think his changes were also due to the jungle changes. When I started lol and showed interest in jungle, my friend directly told me to start with Warwick. At the time, without proper runes, timing and help, the jungle could be extremely unforgiving. As in, as a new player, you could die to jungle camps. WW removed some of that danger due to his sustain, and made learning the jungle AND the role (as a whole) more manageable. As the jungle was changed to a more… inviting place, the need for particular kit lessened.
Second reason worth noting was ap Warwick. I cannot remember the exact year, but I do recollect watching a pro game with an ap WW. I remember the commentators laughed as this WW solo tower dived an enemy, tanking shot after shot, and just healing through it with his Q’s and Spirit Visage. While funny at the time, this wasn’t healthy in the least for the game and despite nerfs, the rework really helped fix this.
Overall I’m really happy with the rework too, I just wonder who new players to the game are pointing to when introducing them to the jungle role? Amumu and Rammus, I’m guessing?
As a lover of both '09wick and current Warwick, he was good before the rework, but he's even better now! And i love him so so so much.
Вау, за количество сравнений с другими чемпионами, исследование истории, огромную работу - лайк.
I have been tearing ass with Warwick toplane
Love this champion, he is absolutely the best rework. I would also like to add a side not that I think Vex is a very well designed champion also. Doesn't feel super overloaded unlike all the champions released around her.
"One of the most balanced champions in league of legends history"
WW Barrier top: let me introduce myself...
no offense, but if you're easily losing to Barrier Warwick Top, you are either one of these things:
1. Don't know the matchup, which would be your fault since the rework came out ages ago.
2. Didn't adapt to his gameplay and played the lane the same way you would play it if you were up against any other standard toplaner, which is again, your fault.
3. Did not consider building any anti-heal which locks Warwick out of a big chunk of his outplay mechanics, which is again, your fault.
4. Bought Armor instead of MR because you didn't know that Warwick played similar to Ornn in that he builds AD items but always ends up doing more magic damage to champions, which unlike the first three reasons, is not necessarily your fault, but still kind of is since you never considered looking into proper itemizations against him and you would know this if you went and checked the damage graphs post-game.
or possibly a combination of any of these reasons. Either way, people who lose to Warwick top lost because they never adapted or considered to adapt based on his playstyle and just ran with whatever gameplan they use on every other toplaner.
If you want the braindead counter to warwick top, just pick Jax or Olaf top. They Hard-counter him over there.
Completely agreed, and I'm a ww main. The only competition imo for best rework is Fiddlesticks, who they also managed to get the fantasy expressed mechanically in just the right ways.
VGU’s like Fiddle and Warwick are the best kinds Riot have ever done. They took the base character, their dated skills/gameplay, and their thematic and just blasted it up to 200%.
They didn’t change their core gameplay, but enhanced it in a way that fit modern day standards and delved much further into their thematic- beautifully and fantastically done.
what is the name of that absolute banger is that going on the back at 09:50?
Did y’all know that some people are theorizing that VANDER from the new Arcane: League of Legends might be WARWICK in the next season?
Cause since Vander was known as the “Hound of the Underground” and having attempted to settle down, it resonates closely with Warwick’s very little background info
Pantheon's rework would be here If they hadn't given him random invulnerability to tower shots on e upon release 💀
I think they said arcane was in the works ever since jinx's release, so all the warwick stuff and the cinematic and all that would of been planned far in advanced I'm sure
After playing Warwick a couple times and having a lot of fun, I'd have to say that right alongside Fiddlesticks and Aatrox, he's one of the only champions that fully delivers on their fantasy whilst playing. I find myself making the most dumbass plays and running around the entire map on WW the moment a Blood Hunt trail pops up because of the thrill of the hunt and, as some other people have noted, doing so bringing out some primal urge to run down prey until I catch it.
Does this mean imperfect masterpieces exist?
his W awakens primal instincts in me
i cant belive how many times i have chased low hp target through death
The biggest W in this rework is how they managed to add a lot of skill expression to a champion that simple by adding the Q outplay to dashes and making him immune during the cast of his R. He is perfect for a new player to play but still super good in high ranks if you can abuse his Q, R and even E, by baiting people into thinking they can kill you then tanking and healing. Masterpiece.
"to create a distinct playstyle for every champion. one whos experience was unique only to them"
*-WATER SAMIRA HAS ENTERED THE CHAT*
As a jungle main my only issue with warwick is that he is a bit overtuned imo.
He is a great champ overall and I have played him a few times and enjoyed it, however, his early game is a bit too strong for me. He can invade and bully like 90% of other junglers, before you get an anti heal item he can usually destroy you, hes extra movement speed on his w passive + ghost ive seen quite a few ww mains use + his e fear and q gap closer makes him early ganks super strong.
I feel like either he should either get a bit less sustain early own so other junglers arent completely bullied by him early game, or get less movement speed so his cant just spam easy ganks. In exchange for this I think they could increase his power lategame, because this guys scales pretty awfully. So maybe remove some speed and healing early on, and add more on late game?
I dont think he is broken, but he is a bit too opressive early game imo.
If any warwick mains are here id appreciate their opinion because I could be biased since he isnt a main of mine.
(I am a WW otp)
What is keeping the balance here is that as a Warwick you have to choose how much you'll invade and bully the enemy jungler because they will 100% be better at farming than you
To keep a significant impact you need to build a lead early, that's why ww player invade and bully their counterpart, but if those coinflip plays miss : the Warwick will not be relevant.
In fact, if there is no lead early, as a ww I'll just build full tank and try to lockdown one player on the enemy team because there is only so much I can do with my non-aoe kit
The strength of Warwick early games rely on the skill of the Warwick, which make him fairly balanced, but it's just my opinion
@@stegolant3930 Thats a fair argumemt I guess. And I do believe inavades are harder to pull off in higher elos because players with weak early game junglers just start warding everything and asking for help from their team.
It is still a bit annoying when I cant do shit for the first 10 minutes because war wick decided to live in my jungle xD
this video popped for me after bulling a teemo otp till he cried using ww
this day is getting better
Best thing about Warwick is they still managed to keep him as the “Intro Jungler” in terms of forgiveness in his kit
His season 4 20% pick rate wasnt because feral flare was a good item on him. It was because of old old red smites interaction with his ult. Smite + R would do around 50-75% of the targets max health in magic and true damage at level 6.
Warwick and Fiddlesticks are the perfect example of a rework
Warwick's rework trailer was the reason I started playing league of legends
this video is by far your best in my opinion
Only thing I dislike about WW is the attack speed boost being at certain thresholds instead of scaling linearly like Olaf's passive for instance. It feels clunky at times to me personally, the rest of his kit is well made and synergizes brilliantly.
Every day before I go to bed, I light a candle and shed a tear for old irelia
This guy really did have an instant transmission for an ult.
2:55
Is... isn't this just how Warwick works now, generally speaking?
This is why I'm a WW main.
Warwicks rework was so good! Warwick is to this day has been the only champ where I was on a 23 win streak!
Anyone knows the name of the song at the end? Man, its so good
wonder how much of this type of overhaul we can expect with the advent of mid-scope updates
I've never gotten the hang of Warwick's Q, mainly because for whatever reason it doesn't tell you the range
The only skill on old warwick was turning off W when you knew where they were so you didn't warn them. I still miss it sometimes :(
I hate Warwick with a passion ! To me, he's a bit like Graves (good at freaking everything). He has healing, attack speed, cc, easy to play, on hit effects, suppress etc... He's not that much played in worlds but in solo play he's a pain. Don't get me wrong.... He's an amazing and effective jungler and his ganks are usually very good. Thank you for the video my friend ! :D I hope you got some rest during christmas time. Can't wait for the next video :D why no one plays Vladimir or Elise. Let'ssss gooo ! Much love.
his old anti carry nature was kind of like malzahar today maybe they should rework malzahar too
Cant wait for the Aurelion rework Video
Oh yeah, talk about my first main. Warwick is what I can only describe at...a good champ for everyone at every stages of the game they are in and let me explain that. His Kit even when old was very friendly but not BROKEN, his new kit is still friendly but have room (so much room) for improvement.
SIF!!! sniff sniff, would have not expected that here
Okay I'm gonna be the guy to ask what the background music is, because I KNOW I've had heard it somewhere but can't place it >.< Is it from a JRPG? It's not NieR though it really sounds like it HELP THIS IS KILLING ME
Edit: it just came to my mind, it's the theme of the fight against Zanza in Xenoblade Chronicles
Warwick is Simple but a very effective jungler. That's i like playing ww jg
I have a confession to do… Warwick was my go to jungle if we needed one back in the day😂
Deisgn wise, warwic is what jhin stans think jhin is. Design done near perfectly.
Man who else thought that Warwick was a blue crocodile back in the day?
Shen is still my favourite rework, but God, does WW feel satisfying to play
I love listening to your opinions and speculations on things. Would you ever do a Brand review? His kit is so much fun to play, and I like the ability to intertwine his kit. I like that his q has a higher range than his E, meaning sometimes, you'll want to QEWR instead of the high risk EQWR,
RISK ON BRAND AHAHAHAHAHA PRESS R+E+ZHONYA AND YOU WIN ANY TEAMFIGHT FUCK OFF
Warwick, Swain, Volibear, Poppy and Evelynn are, for me, the best reworks that Riot ever made
My first main. Perfect champion to introduce folks to the game/jungling.
briar be like 2:57
