Trumpets and drums, out from the church!!
They were most likely positioned near the entrance, maybe completely outside, so as to not overwhelm the music with their sound.
Why? Quite some church cantatas and oratoriae by Bach use them...
@@pierrefranckx6363 because Praetoruis thought trumpets were too loud to play inside church, he says it in Syntagma Musicum
