I like how honest you are.. you dont fake reactions. i appreciate that, even if I really wanted for you to like her sound. but that's okay, maybe it's just not your style
it's pretty reasonable that Melanie's sound is kinda like anti-mainstream (practical effects and distortions) and also mainstream (heavy beats like almost hip-hop) if that make sense. it's also maybe because her topics are heavy to handle in her songs that it's hard for some people to connect with it, mainstream pop is usually about flexing, love, heartbreak, sex and whatnot. while Melanie is about body dysmorphia, bullying, family dysfunction, and some weird shits. it's really just about preference, im a crybaby and thank you for diving the depths of Melanie's discography. 🤍
The honesty is really top notch! Thanks B) I do suggest 'Portals', her third album has a really different sound and the school aesthetics were dropped completely :) but other than that, it felt super fresh watching your reactions!
I respect ur opinion but i believe that if you read the lyrics along listening to the songs, it would all make sense. Melanie is a genius she interconnects lyrics and sound perfectly
The thing about Melanie's music is that is Unapologetic. And is pretty Raw. She didnt fixed her front tooth so you could see her more visually atractive. She is very unapologetic about everything. It's her way to see the music and thats all.
Melanine is currently working on her 3rd album and she said the sound is going to be very different! She said that „Test Me“ is like the perfect segway for her previous sound to the new sound, so we can expect something darker! I hope u didn’t write her off completely just yet, I think the new album will be very different and a more matured sound.
Field Trip, Test Me and The Bakery are the holy trinity. Love them. Numbers grew on me with time. Glued, Brain & Heart and Notebook are okay, like some moments of them. But yeah, not the strongest melodies from Melanie on this EP. I'm a huge fan of hers and I admit that. Grew on me with time but didn't catch me at first like Cry Baby and K-12.
After School is a follow-up to K-12 but Cry Baby has quite a different production, songs from After School or K-12 definitely wouldn´t have fit on it at all and vice versa imo.
I hope you realize that your reaction is WAY BETTER than those who exaggerate and fake their hype just to gain approval from crybabies! It's the honesty and being open-minded for me💙
Hey Taylor! Just subscribed to your channel as I love this type of content for discovering new artists and genres :) Based on your listening history I highly recommend checking out an artist called Banks; I transitioned to her music after being a die-hard LDR fan and she's hooked me for five years since! She only has three albums and a few singles/collabs but her music hits very deep and her vocals are so unique. My favorite album has to be her debut Goddess (deluxe). Hope you love her!
Hey, but you need to react to all of her music videos since Crybaby, they tell a story, and K-12 has a whole movie with the songs of the album (you can react to just the parts with the songs, like regular music videos, they are available separately too).
She used to be teased crybaby when she was young so she made the album crybaby and then continued to make the character grow. That’s why it has all the young sounds
I hate when people be like "I don't like this track", but didn't even let it play through fully yet. Like chile, anyways. Also if this is a deep dive, she has a whole explanation for each and every song on this ep on her instagram. :/
@@kingjay239 That’s understandable, but say it at the end of the song. If he didn’t like the first two projects, why continue reacting to something that you don’t enjoy?
After finishing Numbers: "I don't care much for this track" Meanwhile, the several tempo changes and time signature change from 4/4 to 6/8 and back No hate. He just has his own opinion.
Ngl, I'm a little curious on what the psychology would be behind why most people hate/ dislike/ or just don't know how to feel about this album at first and then end up loving it, lol. For me I just didn't know how I felt about it at first. I love it now. I know part of it is that you can't hear/ understand the lyrics the first time around. I think you also might just not understand the music either. Like maybe it's so odd it's just difficult to process. It's probably that humans are known to automatically dislike things they don't understand, lol. I honestly think that's so cool that it has that effect. Like, I was really confused at what I heard at first. I like that only the true fans will come back to hear it for what it truly is and actually understand it, while others will just be like "not for me" and miss out, lol. Kidding, I respect if it ain't for you, just thought that it's a cool transition for us that do end up loving it!
Something I don’t really like is that, people always force woman (mostly) to always change their music style/genre, instead of just having their style but embolving their sound like most of the male singers that they just make the same music and songs over and over again and no one complains! That’s not fair u know? :(
I understand that. When I talk about evolution I don’t mean completely changing their style or genre. I mean being able to take what they are good at, what their fans love but elevate it on the next album. Keep the core but twist it the way that allows it to sound fresh. It’s true, it could be female artists may get more of an unfair wrap when it comes to music, but there’s a lot of male artists out there as well who make the same stuff over and over and stay where their at. Example of evolution, I’m a huge Weeknd fan. Every album he sings the same stuff, bad relationships, drugs, sex, lonlieness etc. but each album has their own unique sound built around his style. It keeps it fresh and brings a new perspective to thing we XO fans already love you know? But I have no doubt Melanie can do the same thing. I think she just needs to to look a hard look at her work and be like okay....where do I take this now.
She was gonna include Copy Cat ft. tierra whack & Fire drill on this but replaced them with other tracks. Idk if u put that in the fun facts at the bottom but u should react to those 🤣 also melanie spits straight facts on these songs
Please react to Naaz, she did the pre-show for Melanie for the European tour! She was literally so amazing and blew my mind! She’s so underrated as well... 🥺
I believe that if you don’t like or can’t vibe with Melanie Martinez’s music then your music taste is shit. Her music is much more complex than other artists who just want that pay check. She’s a real fucking artist. Just my opinion on an opinion video. 🤷♂️
From what I take if Melanie was a straight hip hop artist I think she could be a artist you would really like I would also love to see her go that route and leave the baby part of crybaby and become a stripper kinda like suckerpunch the movie but in her world. Continue the story but really seeing the world as it is.
@@TaylorRobertsOfficial I think she could continue using sounds in her production but we could move in a different direction from the toy sounds and school related sounds to sounds and concepts a young adult would associate with to continue growth.
@@brandonpadilla5402 her music is very conceptual and theme driven, each chapter represents a chapter of crybaby's storyline, the first record is about the character's childhood, the second one is about her school life and the next one (which she's currently making) she said crybaby won't be her becoming "an adult", the character's growth is more figurative it's not literal and that her soul will "transform", and i personally think she's hinting at more spiritual and mature themes (especially with how after school is full of astrological and spiritual references/symbolism)
I don’t wanna be the Melanie fan to force you into listening to her albums. If you listen to her albums knowing how your reaction is going to be and you really would rather not, you don’t have to. I respect your opinion 😌
