this EP is overlooked by a lot of people, but it really is one of her best projects. Numbers is my favorite song she’s ever made, the tempo changes, the distortion, and that transition from 4/4 to 12/8 halfway through makes me want to go back to the song all the time!
It's genius. Definitely in my top 3 Melanie songs and the part where she repeats 'Am I just a bumber' with the distorted voice is honestly one of my favorite bit of music of all time!!

Personally, I find this to be the best work that Melanie put out so far. It’s so personal for her and her vocals are lot more raw so you can hear the small little voice cracks and such. I find myself resonating with this EP because of how truth-telling it is. It helped me get through my senior year of high school and to look forward to college and adulthood rather then dreading it. My favorites are The Bakery and Test Me❤️
I've always thought of the practical effects of "Test Me" to resemble sounds heard within chemistry labs such as beakers/test tubes, mortal and pestle, and titration machines. So the rattling sway you're describing is the titration of a test tube or beaker. And the ending sound is it shatter (as it is made of glass).

I completely concur on the sentiment that is "After School contains some of her best work". The songs are tailored more to her, and less to what people experience. This of course doesn't take away the relatability of each track. It may have been written from her perspective but it still reaches out to some experiences of others. The complex writing accentuates her strong suit when it comes to methaporical themes and double entendres. The EP essentially showcased her personal life, like you said in the vid. I just wanna say, I luv how you almost hit the interpretations of the songs in the head. I can't wait for her next album and film, and what will be your reaction to them! Also she kinda foreshadowed the theme of her upcoming project in the songs, test me, and the bakery. In test me, you hear how she's pointing out her mortality and the struggle of being one. Whilst in the bakery, there's a lyric that goes, "Sent me to purgatory"; which is very indicative of what's to come next. Melanie Martinez is such a genius creative! I adore her for that! Glued up is my favourite because i can kinda relate. This ep came out during a time where i dissociated alot and had alot of intrusive thoughts. Blanquita‘s means white girls or Hispanic girls or Latina girls that are lighter skin than her So she’s basically saying that people think that just because she’s latest skin and she doesn’t speak as much Spanish as other people as I don’t think she does people think that they’re much more Latina and they represent Latino people much better
I like how you break down each song in details I heard this album when it first came out and liked right along with the first three albums. So far I did a few covers to the dollhouse ep and after school ep and put it together as as one mixtape freestylling to the songs I like I'm thinking going back and add on k-12 and cry baby basically it'll be me rapping or singing to different songs from both of her older albums.
