- This is Atali Mendes, a skater from Brazil in the hood of Perus. A town near Sao Paulo. Skateboarding made her be able to live from her passion.
Between dodging arm robbery and skating between the homeless she developed a great skate style in her local skatepark.
She is the definition that it doesn’t matter where you from, your gender and your religion. You can always have a chance to make it if you work hard enough

Perus isn't a small town, is actually a São Paulo city district that's far from the rest of the city. There're lots of hoods like that in outskirt of the city, like Parelheiros, Morro Doce e Cidade Tiradentes. :)

Honestly, I don't care about the fact that she's a girl. She can skate. That is what matters. I think that the moment you make it about gender, and not about skating, it tarnishes the value overall. Why can't we just focus on the fact that she's successful, doesn't give up, and most of all, she has fun doing this for a living?
Edit: I think that by the time you saw my original post, and when you replied, many either deleted their posts, or their posts may have been reported or flagged, or in somewhat managed by youtube staff or maybe even the algorithm, as I don't see them now. Sara Park-Matot (I may have misspelled there, sorry if so), Quim Cardona, Ellissa Steamer, Bufoni, Kai Watanabe, just to name a few. Check them all out if you haven't already! I just feel that what makes them great isn't the gender, it's that they can skate. I hope for the success with everyone, and while just about anyone can do it but only those who strive will do it, and those who don't try, will never know!
