      Just like anything else electronic, probably great when it works, and it will probably work the majority of the time, but there will undoubtedly be those situations where it will "freeze", as I have read about the Garmin compound bow sight doing. That is just the nature of technology. $1500 is way too much for me to put into a sight, even when I am using a top of the line bow or crossbow. I want to know for certain that my scope is going to work every single time I go out to hunt.

    • @FlyingHighVeteran
      @FlyingHighVeteran 4 роки тому +3

      I have to admit being rather intrigued by the sight--having the ability to range and shoot from one device certainly will improve the odds of a successful hunt & ethical kill. The only down side I am seeing is the sheer size of the unit and how far it sits up above the crossbow.

      A 3.5 magnification is fine for up to a 30 yard shot, when you get to a 50 yard shot you want to move that magnification up to a 6.5. After that at 80 yards you want a 8-10 magnification or better. That why a normal run of the mill rifle scope is 3-9X40. This Garmin scope is stationary at 3.5 MM.
      I will pass on this scope and keep my Sig Sauer Sierra 3 BDX 3.5-10X 42 MM and Kilo 1400 6X20MM rangefinder that is transferring its data 4 times a second to the scope to position the holdover dot where the deer is at.

      @FlyingHighVeteran 4 роки тому

      @@billsmith147 With respect I disagree, 3.5 or even less magnification is just fine well beyond 30 yards. I have a Hawke crossbow scope on my son's Barnett Whitetail Hunter II and I've tested it out to 70 yards & it did so very accurately and easily--plus I could have taken it out farther with no issues. I get it, magnification can definitely be an asset but it is not that critical on a crossbow.

      You provide the information by either using a chronograph or answer the questions that the Garmin will ask you, if you don't have a crony, it allows you to make arrow/bolt profiles,such as for hunting and or target shooting. Much much more. It projects a dot on the glass, and not the actual animal or target. No more gap shooting with pins.

    🤣 Pretty chilly gunna be in the 50s 🥶 that's hilarious to me. I bet it must be a bugger being so warm you gotta find the critter right away and I suppose you don't get to hang them unless you got a walk in cooler. I live in northern MN I'd like to deer hunt in the 50s once.

      Yeah but there's a weird hatred towards crossbows in the archery community in terms of bow hunting, I use one Because I have Cerebral Palsy so I can't hunt with a regular bow but I don't get the hate towards crossbows

    • @williamdemon66
      @williamdemon66 3 роки тому

      Game is wounded just as easily with a crossbow as they are with a compound. It boils down to the shooters training and confidence in the shot and even then it still happens. It’s an unfortunate part of hunting.

      Since moving to a crossbow, my shots have been more precise and speedy kills. Less suffering and complete pass thru with every shot. I’ve done my 30 years of vertical bows so it my time to use crossbows.

    Very interesting sight. Does a great job. Takes the fun and skill out hunting in my opinion. The only time I like technology like this is in the military, when someone will shoot back at you. I like clean kills, but when you introduce this to hunters most will push the limits vs a 90% clean kill. Thanks for posting.

    • @zzz7zzz9
      @zzz7zzz9 4 роки тому +4

      @@MrTNBassmaster it was actually bow hunters recommending it be passed. The typical hunter-division that exists. The elitest 'i'm a bow-hunter' attitude, they think the bow-season should be just for them. They hate crossbows. Similar to how there's elitest fly-fishermen, thinking they are better, because they use a flyrod.

    • @WhitetailDiaries
      @WhitetailDiaries  4 роки тому +2

      Keep in mind this isn't a vertical bow, it's a crossbow and a totally different means and method to hunt with so sure you'll see some states enact different seasons and some won't so always check for the area you're hunting. Finally it's still hunting it's just a different style of hunting no different than rifles, handguns, recurves, muzzleloaders, shotguns etc are different and in the end everyone hunts with what they want and how they want to hunt.

      If a deer has bedded down right nearby and you go to yelling and screaming you risk spooking that deer out of where he bedded down to die. Do we know it's dead and or running dead it's not uncommon but todays crossbows and bows are so fast it's better to be safe than sorry
