IN T.C.S. CHENNAI FOR ABOUT MORE THAN 15 TO 16 HOURS OF WORK. NO INCREMENTS. NO LEAVE FOR URGENCY. THE MANAGER IS VERY CRUEL PERSON. WORK, WORK, WORK,............MANY OF THE EMPLOYEES PUT PAPERS. ONE OF THE BEST CORPORATE COMPANIES IN THE WORLD. WEEKEND DAYS ALSO WORK. NO LEAVE....
Almost same situation happened to me in my office. Pushed all pressures into my head, asking me to work day & night, including weekends. My parents, sisters asked to adjust and complete alteast 1 year of experience. But, I decided to quit though my parents & sisters are against my decision. I told to me," My life, My decision", and boldly initiated the process of quiting the company inspite of no alternative job. Suprisingly, my manager stopped giving pressure, now working 9-6 only. So, continuing the work and postponed the decision of quiting to future... 2 months doing normal job. Good experience in my job now, infact it is actually give chance of working smarter rather than harder. We have to stick with our terms of only 9-6 working hour and how effective we utilise those time.
This is the true reality of all corporates, especially the big4 firms (audit firms), ExY KxPMG pcW are all very famous for this toxic culture...the working community has to rise up and protest against this kind of culture, the important thing is that governments across the globe should enact laws to protect workers and bring in strict laws to prohibit weekends works. True, these Westerners are treating these Asians (Indians, Sri Lankans, etc) in a very bad colonialism manner in all organisations..this has to end. This new form of colonialism has to end, people have to learn what is dignity in life and not accept any form of discrimination by Westerners.
This is so common on IT , they demand us to work early morn + late night . the question is why should we have to work for 12+ hours every day for a 7 hours paying job. This should be taken concern very strictly..... I see so many rules, policies and establishments under MNC'S telling us what to do and not all ..... why work life balancing is not being addressed is the biggest question?
Hi anna. Thanks for this video. I can relate. I got all india rank 12 in November inicet mds exam and got selected in aiims delhi. Went there with so much hopes and dreams. My seniors and professors were very toxic. I didn't know hindi that much so had to face racism there. Even if they know english they wantedly talk to me in hindi only and get irritated if I didn't understand them. I had to do seniors work also. It was a norm there for juniors to work till 2 in the night everyday (for lab work of seniors mostly) . Exploitation of juniors is a norm there. If we didn't abide by their demands they'll corner us and blackmail us by telling if u have any problem with patients who's gonna help you. Professors also support this culture by asking seniors everyday if we are staying till night. That department should have dental technicians to do lab work for doctors but they were not working properly. So doctors and mostly juniors are expected to do all those works which is of no use academically. Professors used to tell us even sundays we have to come to lab and work no leave for us. I was very stressed and as a student from tamil nadu who doesn't know hindi I faced so much racism that too especially from people from tamil nadu who are working there. I was stressed, sleepless, anxious, scared, demotivated, depressed. Lost 10 kg in 5 months . Got suicidal thoughts too. Thats when I decided it's better to leave aiims than to die. I gave my resignation on June and came back to chennai. In that same department there was a student who already left before me I wonder if this was his reason. But anyways it feels like all our hardwork is of no use. 😢
There is no work-life balance in India. Employees are just looked upon like machines for generating cash for the owners. It is not just the IT and corporates. Even small businesses have the same issue. I see such work culture in small shops, restaurants and SSIs.

I too faced this problem in E&Y (IT division) when I worked in USA in 2018 and quickly developed diabetic for over stressed. It depends on Project you work for. When your lead\manager is not efficient it builds pressure on team members. Don't stay long in such project when it is not managed efficiently. you cannot blame the company for it, its department problem.
The reality is that "work pressure" has become normalized. When I started my first job, I was underpaid despite having significant responsibilities. Even after a year and being promoted, my salary remained unchanged. Usually the victims are those who starts their first job.
When My brother joined KPMG he was also over worked. He used to be so stressed due to work, used to work all night all day and even while driving by taking small breaks. But that job , that salary , that growth was needed for a middle class boy. Now he got another job in a big company with comfortable working hours. It used to stress me and my mother that my brother is over worked during that time. I feel the same for her family.
Not only IT company as a preschool teacher also having same problem. Giving 1 teacher to teach 3 subjects for 4 classes. Before going for lunch need to shower kids set up bed, let them to sleep. Get half hour lunch break after that need to prepare for next weeks lesson plan. Kids wake up clean up their beds, prepare tea break and extra activity until the kids go back. We will be working from 7:30am till 7:40pm until all kids go back. I left the job because of doctor advice to stress until been admitted at hospital 2 times. I will fetch son from babysitter house around 8pm. Even I cannot spend time with son and husband because of tired straight sleep off.

The Government needs to step in and ensure the minimum wages are higher and inflation adjusted, create laws which will make it harder for companies to hire individuals out of town, increasing employee s worth to organization. Employees need to step up and put up a case in front of the company if they’re over exploited or made to work in inappropriate hours of the day. One needs to fight for their own rights and not have low self esteem like this Anna. She still felt insecure after achieving so much in a young age, which is a result of being over ambitious. Way to protect oneself from such a case, is to have self-introspection where you give yourself some time to analyze what happened over the day and how to proceed for next day, if not possible daily, then do it on a weekly basis. This same Anna could have become a CFO for any smaller organization in Cochin, but attributed her own self worth in working around the financial capital of India, Mumbai or Pune.
I have worked 5 year in big four before .Yes the work pressure is always there . Not only in India but all the big 4 in other country too . i still remember morning need to be at client place at 8 am till 7pm ( that time all the client always off from office ) then go back to office continue pervious client work till 3am . then go back home take bath and sleep at 4am . wake up at 7am and its all continue . Even Saturday and Sunday also have to work all day along. and one day i fall ill and the management still enquiry about my job progress. that the moment i realized its not worth , this pressure and stress. i take a decision to quit my job and move to a job in which salary is much lower. suicide is not a best decision. once you leave they job there sure will be a replacement but just think about your parents.

Same here, I worked in one of the IT companies you mentioned. Daily I used to work on difficult tasks around 12 hrs, without any additional pay or recognition. It's all because of poor team management and delegation. I mostly used to eat once or twice a day. My health got deteriorated, due to lack of sleep and food. Daily used to feel dizzy, had hand, shoulder and back pain along with stress. It's been more than 3 months since i left my team, still didn't get recover from health issues. People in corporate should start behave like humans. There will be one person in every team, who is dumped with lot of work (reward for good work is more work) and rest of the team will be having fun. And TL and managers just want the work to be done, no matter who dies or lives. If there is any fresher reading this, try not to do more work just because you love the job or thinking that you'll grow or appreciated. Just do the same amount of every one does and record every evidence and try to point out to your supervisors on what are all the work you did whenever you get chance.

Not possible. workplace politics is there everywhere. People may act like supporting but they will play against us supporting the management😴
Working hours should be within the shift times as government jobs

Talk about kanyakumari IREL issue
What issue bro

This is not only in the corporate world it happens in every other field. In educational institutions also. Teachers work even on Saturdays and Sundays. No time to be with family or able to go out. In case we say it's Sunday we planned to go out then institutions say it will be considered as CL.

All over Asia. Where ever Indians working with Indian managers facing same problem
