    I had it 7-5 Beterbiev. 6-6 draw is ok too. I cannot see a Bivol win. If Beterbiev sweeps 10/11/12 that means to get to a Bivol win you would need to have it 7-2 after 9. That just did not happen.

    It was really the same as almost every other beterbiev fight except he just couldn’t get the finish. Bivols conditioning, defensive discipline and fast counters were enough for him to weather the storm. It’s not clear if/how much beterbiev’s knee was a factor. I think he needed 10% more aggression, 20-30 seconds earlier in the rounds and he probably drops bivol at some point and maybe stops him. Easier said than done at 39 w/ a knee injury though.
    Also I just wanna say how refreshing it is to see a guy like beterbiev vs an elite mover like bivol. He actually knew how to cut off the ring and made bivol fight! It’s getting old seeing some of these fighters chase a guy around the ring for 12 then complain they ran. Teo vs Ortiz, Shakur vs DLS etc.

      Shakur and Bivol are not the same.. dont even compare. Bivol was landing clean hard combos, then moving. If there's a definition of hit while not being hit, it's what Bivol did. If Shakur had fought someone on Beterbiev's level, he would have been mauled. You can't JUST run from Beterbiev, you have to fire something back so he's also cautious.

    I think you have missed the point that most of Bivols work was very light touches so the word "effective" is important, Bivol was touching not punching with a lot of his work due to going backwards and he did no damage to Beterbiev who marks up very easily, was a close fight but I think the similarity of the 3 judges cards bar a few swing rounds gave the right aggregate result (None of them made Bivol the winner).....Rematch 100% but I think Bivol gets stopped next time as he really can't change things bar committing to more power which involves planting your feet, then he gets into a trade and he won't win that with Beterbiev. Whereas Beterbiev knows Bivols moves now so he already made the adjustments.

    • @PunchPerfectBoxing

      Light touches? How many times did Bivol sit down and plant his punches throughout the fight? He was constantly doing it barring the last three rounds.

    • @Thetache
      @Thetache Годину тому

      @@PunchPerfectBoxing If that were the case and those shots landed then Beterbievs face would reflect that, Bivol was too quick to get on his bike as he was landing the shots not fully committed because he feared the return fire.

    • @PunchPerfectBoxing
      @PunchPerfectBoxing  56 хвилин тому

      @Thetache Of course he’s going to get on his bike and fear the return… IT’S BETERBIEV! He’s not going to box a stupid fight. He held his feet and let his hands go plenty through 9 rounds. Just didn’t do it enough in the championship rounds to keep Beterbiev at bay.

    • @Thetache
      @Thetache 23 хвилини тому

      @@PunchPerfectBoxing There is a big difference in fully committing to shots and without doing that Bivol gave Beterbiev no reason to worry about going forward, Beterbiev marks up very easily and after 12 rounds he had a rub mark on his forehead, so either Bivol was just touching or Beterbiev was blocking them, choose your poison, thats why all 3 judges did not see Bivol doing enough to win the rounds, best he got was a draw, from 1 of them. The fact that the words "did enough" came from many on the Bivol side shows he did not in fact do enough and did not leave it all out there. A close fight yes but a Bivol win No chance.

    I can accept everyone's opinions. Both men fought with heart and earned their renown from fans. Both men were very classy after the fight, but its clear from the post fight conferences and the interviews in the ring after the fight, artur and bivil both felt that Bivol had the better performance and it was noticeable that Artur acknowledged that Bivol, truly earned the victory. Bivol is total fine with the result because you see that he knows deep down, he did his job last night...ULTIMATELY, any fan who has not been in the ring, truly is not qualified to disect the performance. Comment all day, but until you have been in there, you can't truly understand the details that a close fight reveal, Bivol lost MAX 3 rounds, he controlled the entire fight and artur could not execute his strategy at all, and he was outpointed by a wide margin. I had no complaints about Beterbiev being awarded it. It could have gone either way.
    I didn't think it was as wide as 4 rounds. It seemed the judge with the 116 - 112 scorecard was the only one to give round 4 to Beterbiev. Had he gone with Bivol for that round, you'd have been looking at another 115 - 113 in Beterbiev's favour and I don't think many would be calling robbery then.

    Been looking forward to your thoughts on this. It was a belter of a fight.
    My initial reaction was that it was a draw, but I thought Bivol did the better work throughout and probably nicked it if the judges took notice of the crowd reaction. Same as you. Even with the expectation that Bivol would get it when I heard 116-112 despite it being a bit wide either way.
    I’ve seen people give a lot of stupid reasons as to why it was a comfortable win for Artur - such as “clean shots only matter if they cause knockdowns” and “Bivol was running all night and took more damage - look at his face”. Both of which are bollocks and both show that you have to try harder to make a case for Beterbiev winning than Bivol winning.
    Don’t get it twisted though, I know you can find 7 rounds for Beterbiev, and this is not a robbery. It was genuinely close. I just preferred Bivol’s work.
    My view is Bivol outboxed Beterbiev and had his way with him at mid and close range when it was in the middle of the ring rather than at the ropes. He proved to me that he IS the better boxer of the two, and I’d favour him extremely heavily in a rematch which I doubt will happen. Even if it doesn’t, Bivol will put the belts together again when they scatter.

    Objectively speaking, Beter was an unimpressive stalker and did nothing to win the fight. Bivol, on the other hand, executed a crisp and clean game plan. And while on the back foot, Bivol remained "The Captain," controlling all, and I mean all - of the movement (and making Beter look like an amateur) within the ring. In the end - looking menacing and moving forward was enough to give Beter an undeserved win. It was a robbery. Plain and simple.

    I think Bivol edged it, just. However, waiting the result I thought that Beterbiev’s aggression may catch the judges eye. Has to come down to interpretation as respected voices in the sport disagree. Although Bivols movement was great, unlike other fights it somehow gave the impression that he was being forced to fight like this. I wonder if beterbiev’s physicality and aura added to this. Unfair on Bivol in my opinion. I’m sorry I expect more from the judges, as an over emphasis on aggression will erode the skills of the sport.

    I had Bivol 116-113, I had the 8th as the 10-10 because Bivol in my eyes was doing good work but was far too inactive to win in my opinion but I personally didn't give Beterbiev a round till the 6th and he Clearly won 10 & 11 and stole 12 for me so in the end I had 7-4-1 for bivol in rounds, I think Bivol won 7 because ultimately he stunned Artur a few moments before getting rocked himself and like you said Jamie, he had dominated the round prior to that but I'm not mad if anyone had it a draw but I don't particularly like a beterbiev win especially not 116-112 but that's just me. The other fights, Wardley vs Clarke was one of the more terrifying endings in recent memory, hope Fraze is ok, Opetaia vs Massey was another one I got right like Tsutsumi vs Inoue, I had Opetaia in a mid-late stoppage and it was a relatively impressive performance considering the sturdiness of Massey, Eubank vs Szeremeta was a relatively easy fight for Jr, he perhaps could've ended it a few rounds earlier but decent win nonetheless, I missed Nicholson vs Chapman as I was making dinner and from the sounds of it I missed nothing and Whittaker vs Cameron was just a means to an end in my mind for what I already thought about Whittaker, amazing amateur, underwhelming pro, I saw a number of flaws in fights previous to this like against willings, I genuinely think Whittaker was having a tough time at area level so it only made sense to me he would struggle at domestic and to me there's nothing wrong with not being able to fulfil expectation, sure it would nice to see him go far as with anyone but not always a guarantee from the olympics and I am in the camp of people that thinks he quit but hopefully he can prove me wrong.
    sorry for the essay guys 😂

    Watched it 3 times now and all I can say is 116-112 is an insult to boxing and shows the professional judges are clueless , in the first 8 rounds anybody on gods green earth would agree Bivol won 6 of the first 8 so that’s a draw already guaranteed but he then lost the last 3 10,11,12 so that just leaves round 9 which I thought Bivol won clearly so on my card I had Bivol winning that fight by 1 round.
    I watched that fight with a group of my mates every single one of us have all boxed or done MMA or K1 for a minimum of 30 years so we know what we are talking about and we all backed Beterbiev not one of us thought we had a winner but Thank God for crooked judges.
