Thanks a lot for posting this, it really helped. Instead of filing down the plastic, I placed a thin folded piece of foil paper between the battery and the contacts and boom!! that worked. Schlage need to design a better battery casing, these locks are not cheap.

Hans, thanks for the video! Same issue as others have stated. I also did what ManaWarGaming mentioned with the aluminum foil. Fixed the issue! For the cost of the lock, this should have designed better.

Did the same thing with the foil and it worked. Thanks for the help!!

Thank you for the video, it encouraged me to look into what was happening with my Schlage deadbolt lock, as it had become totally unresponsive, even with fresh batteries. I initially thought it was due to using rechargeable batteries, but couldn't test that theory because I had no alkalines onhand. The problem ended up being the contacts inside the unit, more specifically on the printed circuit board. We reshaped the spring contacts so that they would make contact with the battery carrier, and after that it worked! Accidentally broke a contact though, so it needed to be soldered back on- be really careful when messing with these. Otherwise, success!

This made so much sense, why the door lock seem to have dead batteries that were not actually dead.

Worked like a charm. I literally threw it in the trash after messing with just about everything else and couldn’t get it. Thanks a lot!

I had to mess around with the contact points myself and then it started to work. Thanks for the video!

So I didn’t have the same issue, but your video got me looking at the pack. I had a broken connection between the pressure spring of the negative terminal and the outside post. Tested continuity and sure enough none. Just another thing to test.

Awesome video!!!!!!!! Thank you! I had the same problem with my Schlage deadbolt not powering up. I shaved the plastic tabs that kept the battery from making contact and it worked. Thanks again for the video.

I own a Schlage Connect Camelot smart deadbolt with a keypad that occasionally fails to respond. To get the keypad to function, I often have to disconnect and then reconnect the battery connection. Following advice from another user, I added a piece of foil to the positive ends of all the batteries where the plastic bars are located. I completed this fix today, and I'm optimistic that it will resolve the problem of the keypad occasionally becoming unresponsive.

    • @hanslain9729

That foil would work too. The video here shows where to shave off a couple tabs so your battery just makes contact with the original contact.

@@hanslain9729 I agree I did not want to start shaving things off when the foil wold be the easiest thing to try first. Plus I also do not have the tool to measure the voltage so that is why I added the foil to all batteries since I could see that the batteries were not making full contact on the positive end of the battery pack casing.
I am hoping this will fix my problem. TBD 🤞🤞

I had to convert to 9v.
For whatever reason, my battery bank was snapped in half.
    I took the bank off.
    Cut the wire
Connected a single 9v battery plug to the 2 wires.
Then heat shrink the two connections.

What would happen if you put a 9V battery in place of the AA battery pack? Does the deadbolt electronics have a voltage regulator?

Lame design of that's the case. Rechargeables are a better option for something you're using for years
