- Bald Eagle Taking A Canada Goose at Grant Lake
We watched a third year Bald Eagle swoop and grab for a Canaga Goose at Grant Lake. The goose dove under the water. The eagle came back around and swooped and grabbed again. Goose dove again. This went on for 8 or so tries until the eagle finally grabbed the goose and flew off with it.
Thanks for watching our Eagle video! What other bird videos would you like to see? Let us know. Leave us a comment!

I need that eagle to do that about 1000 more times in my area 🙂
Haha! Yessir
LoL I don't know what you mean me too and I'd like to watch him do it a thousand more times
You stole me comment. 😀
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣yes
No kidding. I hate those flying rats.
Once when I was fishing on a creek I witnessed a red-tailed hawk trying to take a duckling from a mother duck. There were about six ducklings and every time the hawk made a pass the mother would maneuver herself between the predator and her babies. As the hawk swooped in she would lift up out of the water flapping her wings. The hawk made several passes before it saw me then flew away. As I told my grandkids, you don't get to see that from the living room couch.
You do if it’s been recorded
Watched a seagal ,on the north fork of Long Island , swoop down and snatch a snapper from the water. Fifty feet away from us it dragged the foot long fish on shore. Proceeded to peck ferociously at the neck area of the live fish for twenty minutes while fending off a dozen other seagals that surrounded him all making a move toward the fish. It would peck then confront peck and confront constantly until the fish was able to fit down its throat. Pretty amazing to see and hear.
Don't experience while scrolling down facebook.
This gives another meaning to duck, duck, goose.
well done
That's what they call a "sitting duck".
Yup!
I was thinking “silly goose”
@@birdgevity key word....duck.... It looks like a duck, not a goose ...
Quack!
Oh you!
That's the smallest goose I've ever seen.
That's what I thought looks like a duck neck not long enough
It looks to me like a coot. The eagles around here take coots all the time but never have I seen a goose taken. I don't think the eagle is strong enough to lift a fully grown goose.
🐥
Thats because it was a duck.
It was a coot
I know the feeling, eagle. It’s like trying to patiently wait in line at Wendy’s for my baconator!
This might be one of the most remarkable wildlife videos I've happened upon while surfing UA-cam. That is a remarkably dedicated eagle, especially considering the abundance of more suitable victims in the background. Thanks for posting!
Dedicated goose I would say. It's moto was I don't live today.
I am surprise more were not wiped out by Sully. They clearly saw the plane coming but decided to stick around to see what would happen.
Yeah, no knives and forks! Can you imagine having to tear raw meat up to eat with only a beak and talons? Tough life these wild beings have.
The goose was the bigger and better meal by far and probably the easiest to catch.
That eagle went for what it wanted and succeeded. A true American patriot!
I live near Toronto Canada. I saw my first bald eagle 🦅. This year 2021 . Truly amazing. I was speechless. Beautiful. Tried to get a bird off the water like this . Missed the bird went back in for a fish . This thing was huge.
Seen an adult bald eagle do this to a duck in a pond near me a few months back, he got it first try. The term “sitting duck” finally made sense.
🦅
🦆
indeed
6th time's a charm…. a valuable lesson in perseverance!
Yes!
Ikr…. I guess that the goose didn’t get the memo that the eagle was hungry.
The eagle knew it would taste better if he scared the all the crap out of the goose first.
Duck.......duck.........duck........duck........duck................ GOOSE !!!!!!!! 🐦🐦 🦆🦅
That's quite a feat of flying, agility and strength.
It is! Amazing bird!
Fly, Eagles Fly
A pretty good analogy for the trade surplus between the USA actually.
Little Turin chasing him first, they are so protective.🤠 Looks like home.
Yup, that goose was a duck. Goose is bigger than the eagle also the goose feathers have black and white in them and the goose doesn't duck when threatened in the water. It's rear when a goose is by himself and so many other things I can list why that duck wasn't a goose. I showed this to my friend who is a waterfowl hunter and said to me it was a female Mallard duck (a hen).
Super cool, that bird was like a precision aircraft.
Reminds me of what my mom use to tell me - “If at first you don’t succeed; try, try again.”
How fortunate to have witnessed a hunt like that.
Wow, I’m surprised it didn’t try to fly away or move towards the group of geese.
Us too. But after a few swipes it just seemed plain worn out from the attacks.
B&K
Gander of geese lol
Surprised me too. You think it would have scrammed after the first strike.
It was rattled from the headshots.
Birdbrains- Aside from predatory birds, most don’t seem to be working with much. Of course there’s the Ravens/Crows? Whadda you say, Birdgevity?
He was really playin Duck,Duck Goose
Good eating, can't blame him for not giving up!!!!!
Two possible memes for this scene: Perseverance and stupidity.
Just like in fighting, timing is key to succeed. Unfortunately for the goose, the eagle figured it out first. Awesome video.
Power beats timing
It took the eagle multiple attempts because the goose had the "timing" down so im not sure what you mean by the eagle had the timing down first. If it snagged it on its first try that would be a more accurate statement. Im being pedantic but i couldnt help myself.
I live in front of a river and one day I watched as two of the bald eagles chased a sea gull around low over the river, one eagle stopped and the other one got what he was chasing! Feathers were everywhere. 🦅
A Canada goose isn’t a small goose either
These eagles are amazing
Incredible footage! This is fascinating behaviour, thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for watching!

Gorgeous bad eagle... Dive... Got it Needs some milk!
Natures version of the game duck ,duck , goose.🦆🦆🦢🦅🍗
Literally a game of "duck, duck, GOOSE"
That was awesome. I didn’t know how strong the bald eagle was!
Wow. Thanks for sharing.
Those things are massive and bloody scary when they are flying at you.. I'm talking about the Cananda Goose!
amazing video! thanks for capturing nature in it's true form. it is surprising the goose didn't head for cover, if it even understands the concept. and the power of the eagle - to carry off a wriggling, large goose!
Thanks so much!
B&K
It was a coot not a goose!
The eagle may feel, that the goose is in bad condition. So easy Prey for him.
Beautiful video, thanks for sharing
“This is Eagle Land, buttercup.”
That's a first for me. Wild !
Wow, it looks like that capture was quite a load. That's an impressive hunt.
Isn't it?!
I’m glad something had the nerve to take on one of those devil ducks.
Remarkable. I can see why it went after the Canada Goose, definitely the slower target of the other water fowl there, and in the most vulnerable position, but this also gives a fantastic size comparison. Canada Geese are not small by any standard, and that eagle has to be 2X the size of that goose if not more.
Incredible footage 🙏🏻
that was so awesome eagles are badass!!
That was so freakin cool! Great footage.
Thanks Bruce!
Bill & Kitty
We're eatin good tonight Martha!😁
Great video. Thank you.
Beautiful
bald eagles are bigger than most people think, the last one I saw here it looked like a dog was up in a tree when I glanced, then realized what it was. They make geese look tiny.
Mom: go find anything, Beaky for dinner! A cow...a chicken...a lamb...or a lit..tle worm!
We need more Bald Eagles here in Canada.
Real world meaning of sitting duck!
Goose: "Ha ha! I can do this all day!" Eagle: "Don't worry, mate, you won't have to."
The classis children's game of duck, duck, goose.
That's the very definition of persistence!
Awesome! Persistence pays off! :)
Yes it does!
I’m guessing the goose stayed where he was because each time the eagle closed in he could dive for safety. Taking flight would have spelled doom. Going for the shore would have limited his ability to dive. I think he was just banking on the idea the eagle would give up. It’s not that often you see predators stay at it that many times!
Wow, just keep trying heh ? Thanks for the tip
Wow--interesting footage. Eagle did not give up. Was surprised goose just pretty much stayed in the same place, rather than head for the shore line. Nice short.
Thanks!
I was thinking - gosh, this eagle is wasting lots of energy. But in the end, its investment payed off. 👍
Wow, Perseverance!
‘MERICA!! 🇺🇸 🦅
Definition of a “sitting duck” 😀
Phenomenal footage!
Awesome video!
You know what you hear when you play Beatles white album backwards... Canada gooses.
LOL
Was fishing at a pull-off spot in 2008 my uncle & I watched a Hawk grab a big snake from the water about 20ft in front of us it was wild!
That was pretty wild! I've never seen an eagle grab anything but a fish or rodent before...
wow! that was cool
Wow thanks so much for posting one the coolest nature videos I've seen on UA-cam you did good
Goose: dude, leave me alone...
Eagle: wait, look at this!
Well if at first you do not succeed try and try again!!! He really wanted goose for dinner!!!! 🤣
What a lovely video
Thank you!
Cheers,
Bill & Kitty
Duck Duck Goose!
Cool!
Amazing
:59 That bomber too heavy to get off the runway
That was one determined eagle.
Never give up
I guess you could say that goose is... hooked?
"We can do this the easy way or the hard way...but we're GOING to do this!"
That's nature!
WHAT A GOOSE !!!
Thanks for posting. It is always a pleasure watching wild birds, like this.
Thanks for watching!

You put up a good fight, little one!
looks more like a Golden Eagle to me
“Your a sitting Duck” get out of the middle, strength in numbers… oh wait
That's America for ya
Au Naturel!
Holy smoke, those geese aren't small or light either! 😯
Nature.❤
Wow! Quite a meal.
We bet that eagle was pretty stuffed after that meal!
B&K
That was a coot, way too small to be a Canada goose. Loved the strafing action of the eagle. The coot splashed to obscure the eagles vision.
Sorry, I don’t want to be an ass, but that’s not a coot. I can tell you that some subspecies of Canada geese can sometimes be only slightly larger than a Mallard Duck and Cackling geese can be about the same size as a duck. Cacklers and Canadas are indistinguishable from a distance but the former average 3-6 lbs. Coots are much darker than the bird in the video and have much less white on the head. Beyond this, they weigh only about a pound. Compared to a bald eagle, which weigh up to around 13 lbs, these birds would be tiny. What we see here is a bird about half the size of the eagle (around 6 lbs) which fits right in between the lesser Canada subspecies and the larger cackling goose subspecies.
That’s one hungry chick
Wow that’s wild!
Right?! So amazing!
B&K
That was awesome! Kinda disappointed it took my spirit animal that many attempts
Duck duck goose…no duck! he’s coming around again
"Why do I hear boss music?"
- Goose
That's quite an eagle they have there.
This happened to my Embin gander a few months ago here in the yard. His luck ran out. :((
RIP Lucky Boy!
So sorry.

Helluva catch 👏
I was rooting for the little goose but to no avail .😳
