To all the haters saying his vocals are shot, go dig a hole and bury yourselves . At The Gates still shreds. Saw them live pre covid and they still kill it every time . Such a huge pioneer of melodic death metal. I have the biggest amount of respect for this band staying true to their roots and killing it for this long.
I saw them live with Amon Amarth and Arch Enemy in 2020 and they sounded SO good.
Who said thar? He sounds fresh and fucking good to me.

How would anyone say that, I am listening to mainly BM and their vocals and still enjoy at the gates vocals so much. they are desperate and add beautiful tone to songs. Love it.

Having become older I have understood what the main thing is in music. It is a talent of composer. There are thousands of metal bands in the world but really splendid only those who can compose beautiful melodies. At the Gates has this talent, and that is why it has become a legend one.
Something new and something old. I mean those melodic lines are combinations from your previous albums. But you combine those styles and you get a new material. Then new themes to write about, which are good. I will believe that this is indeed your most ambitious work. Can't wait for the whole album.
What is music if not stealing a bunch of other music and stitching it together in a new way?
I have always thought that At The Gates struggles to write new material. It seems like they all have their comfort zone well supported by each other.. but it seems to prevent them from trying new things.
Not that I'm mad about it or anything... Lol I've just always noticed their unwavering style repeating itself a lot.

You should totally check out their Slaughter of the soul album. It was literally the single album that pioneered melodeath (and also metalcore because metalcore riffs are inspired by melodeath riffs) this album is just a pure masterpiece every track is a banger

People are talking about his vocals changing. They're quite solid (and I mainly listed to black metal nowadays) this isn't 1994 anymore lmao, nobody sounds the same after 30 years. Even Anneke Van Giersebergen of The Gathering - and she's been singing for 30 years, not screaming.

Excellent track, can't wait to hear the album! Weird production choices for Tompa's voice, though... he sounds good, but you can hear a LOT of the falsetto tones. Way moreso than usual, even for him.

@@brunodourado471 Having seen him live within the past 3 years, I'm gonna disagree - he's always had this tone to his voice, I think the folks who worked on the technical aspects of this album just don't know how to properly record him.
Last At the Gates album that had my attention was At War with Reality. This sounds pretty good though. May consider buying this.
