What's the best movie theater in the WORLD?
what kind of theater should i watch the barbie movie on?
@@maximilianomadrigal6661 Would recommend a theatre that shows films in a taller aspect ratio. Barbie was shot in a 2:1 aspect ratio, so you would want to watch it in a theatre that shows more of the image
For me I watched it in IMAX 70mm on Friday night at the printworks in Manchester and man ow man. The excitement I had was Stella. I felt like I was so lucky to get a ticket... because I pretty much got the last ticket. It was a shit seat, but fuck me you felt it.
My friend said I watched it in IMAX, but it wasn't the right one. It was the LIEMAX at the Trafford centre 🤦 and you know what made me laugh. His ticket was more expensive than mine. And I got the full IMAX 70.
If you're from Manchester and you wanna watch Oppenheimer PROPERLY go to the printworks cinema. My ow my
I unfortunately won't be seeing this is imax I'm seeing it this Thursday at a small theater near me
Roadhouse Cinema.
DINE. IN. MOVIES. Genius
I watched this in imax. And i kid you not i gasped multiple times. I am also not afilm buff. It was insane. It genuinely is breath taking. I havent watched a movie in a theater in over 5 years. It is worth it worth it.
What makes it better than any other movie in Imax. Only the explosion scene was special for imax.
Best Imax presentation since Dune!
3 hours of snoozefest😌😌😌
@@dannyd2572you obviously have the attention span of a goldfish
@@dannyd2572 Did you even watch the movie?
As a working projectionist, Art's love letter to this dying profession throughout this video just warms my cold, dead heart. 💙
Dramatic much
I drove 10 hours from Minnesota to indie for the premier! Amazing theater!
I am going to watch this twice: once in normal theater and one in 70mm IMAX. Having watched it once in normal theater now, I recommend everyone who doesn't know who Oppenheimer is to watch at least a youtube video about him. Helps tremendously with the references and the massive amount of names.
There’s a fantastic BBC Documentary series on him
I watched the Veritasium video about Oppenheimer a few days ago, watching movie tonight.
@@InitialDIT The veritasium video helped me understand better because the movie goes very fast and you can get lost very easily
Yeah. Watch something someone else filmed so this film will make sense, cuz this film can’t stand on its own.
And, what’s worse - none of the dozens of names dropped in this film had any impact on the story.
This was the worst example of storytelling I’ve ever seen in a movie.
@@AdmoreMethod100% agreed - the movie is a set of “flashbacks” with most of these pieces are there without concrete reference to the story itself, but just to be there autonomously probably as a historical fact.
The other disappointment is purely subjective was that the movie doesnt really show any deeper technical side of any bomb development or invention… but its me being a nerd haha
i love this video explaining all the specifics. i feel like i've seen a lot of little bits thrown around online, but this full explanation is awesome, thank you!!
I have had a unique experience. I saw it in 70mm in Lincoln Center and the machine broke almost exactly half way through and they showed the rest in laser and 70mm is comically better. Objectively. In short, if it is in 70mm under 2 hours away, go. It is absolutely stunning and an incredible experience. The difference is indescribable. That being said, if you can find an IMAX theater spend the extra money and go. The sound may be more important than the clarity and aspect ratio. IMAX calibrates all their theaters and the impact of the sound (all of it) in this movie transforms it to an incredibly visceral experience. Just spectacular. I also saw it in a regular theater and it feels like an entirely different movie. Nolan extracts every ounce of benefit one can get from the IMAX experience.
Glad to see both Barbie and Oppenheimer being two great movies this weekend and being box office successes. What a great movie weekend fr
@@CandyMan2001Barbie is a great movie
@@CandyMan2001 If I was an angry feminist why couldn't you disagree?
Barbie was trash, due to the wannabe feminism and man hate agenda. When it should have been a fun movie
My daughter saw Barbie and said it was woke garbage. Smart kid.
@@jeffg.8964 imagine putting words in your daughters mouth bro
Saw this in 70mm in Indianapolis, it was stunning. Never seen anything like it. Was in awe.
Tbh this is a masterpiece that holds up no matter what screen. We watched it on an onyx screen (funny enough it appears to be the world's first to be installed back in 2018 according to a news article I just found). It might be only 4k and a bit cropped, but watching oppenheimer on an active screen in a blackout room is a damn experience.
Where is that, if you don't mind saying?
This was my first IMAX movie. I don't think it was regular IMAX 70MM as that one is in Phoenix I think, and I live in Tucson. But it was a packed house, the screen is HUGE which is cool, and it just felt like how movies should BE. An EVENT. Nolan movies feel like an event. Something I feel like was lost thanks to the pandemic. We need to find that spark again. We need and deserve to have stacked summers again. We deserve to go to movies to escape reality, while also being reminded of it. We deserve QUALITY not just quantity.
I wouldn’t use the word quality in the same sentence with this movie.
Quantity… absolutely.
Three hours of endless drivel.
But, quality…?
No.
@@hundredfireify your wording on this is funny and I like it but that isn't a reason for this person to cut back their comment I fear 😂 I mean, it's cool hearing about different opinions!
@@hundredfireify It's a dialogue-heavy movie. Went to see it with my brother and although he liked it, he said it was very long. I felt like it flew by me and I absolutely loved it. Again, not everyone's going to like it for their own reasons, but I think they should at least give it credit for excellent performances and great writing.

I don’t even have IMAX in my area but even just at the normal cinema it was a tremendous experience
So I saw Oppenheimer in imax laser, first time ever experiencing imax, 12 channel sound, big comfortable seats, and the massive screen, top tier experience!
was able to view this film in 2 different formats on opening weekend. first time in pure 70mm and rewatched on IMAX laser. both are great experiences, but i would suggest the highest level IMAX for the average viewer. 70mm is absolutely gorgeous with the aspect ratio and also loved how organic it felt from the projector so it feels like a period piece. however, a huge portion of the experience comes from the sound which is why i recc IMAX!!
This is actually really informative and answered some questions I had. Thanks!
I’m honestly hoping I get to watch this in Imax.
I feel you man in my area (pomona) the closest theater is Ontario and all the good seats are taken for the next 2 weeks, so I'll have settle for taking a seat on the side or right on front of the screen.
95% of the scenes are shot in a room. It's not worth it on IMAX unless you want to see a bigger room lol
I just saw it on IMAX 15/70 film tonight. A great experience, totally worth the trip to get there. Get a ticket while they’re hot!
Just make sure you sit in the middle. I had to sit in the front at an IMAX showing and my neck still hurts.
So I didn’t get to watch it in true imax but a regular imax in my town but just find a theatre with great advance sound that’s enough the sound in the movie alone is the focal point over the visuals trust me you aren’t missing much
My favorite movie of all time is Interstellar and not seeing it in theatres is one of the biggest regret of my life. Got to see Oppenheimer in 70mm film IMAX, there's nothing like it in any other format.
Same. Missing out on 70mm interstellar experience was a large part of why I had to make sure I watched this one at least once on 70mm. Glad I did
I watched it on IMAX and non-IMAX. I love the IMAX version but I also enjoy the regular screen version too despite not being immersive enough during explosion scenes. Luckily the sound design and the BOOM really made up for that.
I live in a town that didn’t even get a movie theater until 2020…I didn’t even know there were so many different kinds of theaters. Middle-of-Nowhere, USA is such a dull experience
We will always support you and your channel. Keep working hard.
I was lucky that my closest IMAX theater was showing it in 70mm IMAX. It was amazing. There's so much detail, like I saw the stitching of Oppenheimer''s hat.
Stitching on his hat?!?!?!?!?!??! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!
Did you see the skin cells of Florence Pugh's tits? 😂😂
I watched this movie on one of of the smaller screens (from your description it might be a Dolby) in my city (Indonesia), but my god. I have watched movies in the cinema frequently for a very long time, and it was the best sound I have heard. The stomping, the explosion, I could feel it in my seat. I could only imagine what it would be like on one of those 70 mm IMAXs.
This helps a lot. Love the videos! Much love from NJ
I got to see it in 70mm IMAX at the State Museum in Indianapolis. Genuinely the most impressive presentation of a film I’ve ever seen.
Saw this in imax at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood and there was in picture for the first few minutes.
The staff got it fixed in about ten minutes and restarted the movie. Everything else went smoothly and they even had free coffee for us, presumably because it was a 6am showing.
Ive seen it in IMAX Lazer on the biggest screen possible (biggest in France) and it was wonderful !
I count myself lucky… Went to a National Amusements theatre for Oppenheimer in 70mm, and it was a *flawless* presentation.
love your videos, been a fan for a while miss the longer ones on the ATZ show
One of the best directors to ever live: “watch my films on an ipad”
Or 3DS
That hilarious moment when you realize you saw the same opening night screening in Indianapolis as you did and didn’t even know it. Literally breathtaking, traveling the 4 hours to do it again for their last screening on the 17. 70mm IMAX all the way baby!
love the tribute in the end
Luckily I live in Dallas so I just saw the 70mm imax showing last night. While this isn't my fav nolan movie (Inception has that spot with a deathgrip) seeing it in that format was amazing. ESPECIALLY in those pockets when you saw the flames and sparks of the bomb. It was truly, as doc ock said "the power of the sun in the palm of my hand" and was able to, without ANY doubt, show the awsome destructive power that bomb. They introduced our projectionist before the screening too...his name was steven. A++ steven LOL
Finally someone who points out that the projectionist is important for these film screenings
Absolutely crucial for a stellar presentation!
Now i know why the screen for this film is hugmangus , the depths of the colors and the contract is just so good , I wish there are more film like this.
Thank you - I have been seeking a little confirmation that could give me a clear understanding of how 70mm was the true way to see this film. I am also in Indianapolis and that was so cool. My wife just today said, 'If you get a chance to see it at IMAX - should would be fine seeing it at one of our local theaters, so I have 'permission' to book my ticket to the Indiana State Museum to see for myself. CAN NOT WAIT. Thanks again for such a detailed explainer.
This is excellent content. Thank you
Saw the movie in Dublin, CA. This was great in IMAX!
Wow! never would have known on my own, but the Bullock theatre that you recommended is less than 30 min from me. Will check it out for sure.
Watching this in 1570 IMAX was one of the best movie experiences I’ve ever had, this was amazing.
I arranged to see DUNKIRK in 1570 with my brother and father when that came out, and trying to re-watch the movie at home has just NEVER been able to get close to repeating the experience!
Me too!! The images were fantastic and the sound!!! I feel like it's one those movies where you need that sound quality!
When the sound of the explosion reaches them during the Trinity test! Breath taking!! I could feel my seat shaking!
Just saw in imax and great film. Nolan does it again
saw it yesterday!! was so freaking good🙌
So excited, I’ve reserved my viewing of many trailers and videos like this just to avoid spoilers. On august 14th I’m going to see this movie in 70mm imax, so I can’t wait. I almost feel like my eyes arnt ready for 18k
Side bar - Can’t wait to see your blue beetle review.
saw it in 70mm IMAX twice and seeing it a 3rd time on the 3rd lol
I love this format flaws and all. The huge grains are crazy
I was in Prague imax 70mm And 3 days later in regular imax. Oh boy the difference was incomparable. The projection on 70mm was alive, and so real
There used to be a 15/70 here in Denver but the last film they showed on that format was Interstellar, which I saw and I've been chasing that high ever since. 😭
Seeing it in regular IMAX tonight and I am pumped.
I’m seeing it in Indy next weekend. Unfortunately I was a little late so not the best seats. I know for a fact it’ll be better than the low res liemax at Marcus theater in Bloomington, IL I saw on the 20th. Thanks for giving an idea what to expect ❤️
Hope you enjoy it!
Was lucky enough to watch this in IMAX 70mm and also can confirm it was totally worth it
Completely agree. What an experience
I’m glad we didn’t pay more than matinee price for this snorefest.
But, I’m mad that we paid anything at all.
I completely disagree. I saw it in one of the 35 theaters and if this is the best we can achieve in cinematic presentation then we should just give up. I have seen better IMAX at the California science. both Avatar and Avatar the way of water we're ten times visual experience of seeing Oppenheimer.
Same
@@erickanter4090 Admittedly, it was over my head. Cuz, for the life of me, I can’t fathom how anyone could write such a boring script… then film all those boring scenes with boring dialogue… then, edit it in such a way as to make it (possibly) the most boring film ever produced.
I drove 2hrs to watch it on the largest screen in the world in Leonberg, Germany. I am so greatful for this experience - it was definitely worth it.
same man, but only half and hour for me
I have never heard about how to watch the movie before, I just learned about it because I subscribe to this channel!
"laser" this is a great summary, thanks!
I got to see this in 70MM imax on opening day. Sadly all the good seats for the rest of the run are sold out so I won’t be able to experience it again, but it was incredible. I saw it again in IMAX Laser and it was fine, still a very good experience. I’m hoping Nolan brings back the IMAX Film screenings for awards season so I can see it again
Saw it in 70mm imax and it was an insane experience. Definitely go see it in 70mm imax if you can
Mine IMAX theater sadly does have the 70mm
@@sk8mafia214my whole country doesn't have one. But it's not a big deal because many countries don't
Seeing it tonight in imax👌🏽
I'll never emotionally recover from the shut down of the Navy Pier IMAX.
We have one of those 70mm IMAX just outside of Toronto. I got tickets for the 10am Saturday (Jul 22nd) showing. And it was still sold out!!
What a lot of channels telling people that they MUST watch this in IMAX are missing is that...its not affordable for a great number of those people. In the UK if a couple living just outside of london go see it at thd BFI IMAX, thats £50 for two tickets in addition to say £15 to £20 train ticket in addition to getting snacks and food, we're talking about a £100 day or more. I dont think film lovers should be made to feel shitty because they cant afford to spend that. Perhaps these videos should be more technical differences than telling ppl they must watch it on 70mm
I have tickets for one of the 30 theaters. I saw Dark Knight and Dunkirk there. Just unreal. It had been broken, but they sent someone in to fix it a few weeks ago.
I'm watching it in Dual Laser because the closest Imax 70mm is 3 hours + drive and also all its tickets are sold until August before Formula movie takes over Imax. So, I got my tickets for a dual laser show with the 12 channel audio system and 1.43 aspect ratio. So, the second best option. I even heard that the laser screenings are brighter and have better colors and contrast than the 70mm Imax, but I understand that with 70mm, you're watching it exactly as Nolan wanted you to see it.
Oh yeah, well I’m watching it in TRIPLE laser
@BudFuddlacker wow, didn't even know triple laser existed 🤯
damn, i wish we had that laser imax and 70mm in my country. also, i did not expect the letmexplain guy to be an absolute cinephile!
there are only 3 imax theaters in my state, the theater closest to me is 2 hours away, but I know its going to be worth it.
Saw it yesterday at the Mall Of Georgia and it was flawless! Saw Tenet there multiple times as well with no issues!
Saw it in IMAX 70mm in New York. One of the best theater experiences in my life. Favorite film of the year.
Just got back home from seeing it at the Indy State Museum IMAX and it was amazing!
I saw it 5 times in imax 70mm because I knew it would be a once in a lifetime experience.
thank you for your explanation of the difference in the movie. I live in Chicago
I saw it at the Indianapolis State Museum just for the 70mm IMAX on opening night for the first showing and was absolutely blown away by how gorgeous it was. I still wished that the Navy Pier IMAX was open, mainly for IMAX movies that come out in the 1.43 format that don’t come out to 70mm. I was really wanting to see No Time To Die and Dune there.
Legit so bummed that navy pier shut down..blows my mind Illinois doesn’t have one. All cause of the pandemic.
Both me and my son bonded a lot at the Navy Pier IMAX watching Bond, Mission Impossible and Nolan's Interstellar at that theater. My girlfriend and I went to the Indianapolis State Museum last weekend to see Oppy in IMAX 70mm and the print was pristine, the resolution insane and the sound blow your eardrums loud. It was worth the trip - a once in a lifetime experience.
I love actually hearing someone know what they're talking about when it comes to this versus all the customer questions and comments on /r/imax that just DONT UNDERSTAND
Settled for regular a 70mm showing on July 25th, since the IMAX 70mm basically had crappy seats for a while, but was finally able to get a showing for the 3rd of August, I'm hoping it doesn't get screwed up
5:50 *DIGITAL LAZER*
" *Lazer* may refer to: An incorrect spelling of laser, an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation"

Saw it 70mm and thankfully it was working well. I have never seen such crisp colors and Audio. Little bummed the movie screen was regular sized, but still. Incredible film
A great documentary to watch before this movie is Trinity and Beyond. Really good for historical context and it’s here on yt
I watched it over the weekend in standard 70mm and was pretty disappointed in the sharpness but I'll chalk it up to inexperienced projectionist.
I wish they would have a 4k blu ray of the taller IMAX cropped version of the film I never get to see in Hawaii
You're right there's nothing like seeing a really good film story on actual film stock wether it's 70mm 35mm or the alternate 70mm IMAX.
And let's hop this enspires a whole new generation of projectionists to the film.industry and theatre's
I saw it in imax laser on opening night and im seeing it on wednesday in imax 70mm and im so lucky to live near one of the theaters
Rest In Peace
Navy Pier IMAX
Great video.
Seeing this in a couple weeks in Grand Rapids Michigan. They had an unfortunate issue where their 70mm broke, but they’ve managed to get the portion fixed and are going to be showing it again in 70mm for a couple extra weeks. Beyond excited. I thought I wouldn’t get the chance because everything was selling out for the 70mm IMAX. Is it weird that I think about it every single day? This has also got my UA-cam algorithms recommending me film photography videos and now I’m really interested in it, so shoutout to Chris Nolan for being a gateway drug to film photography
Goddamn, this is a video i didn't even know i needed. Cant wait to research what's out here in the UK
Very informative, needs more awareness & reach
Watched it at Lincoln Square AMC. Holy fucking shit I wish I could immediately go back to see it that way. Insane immersion
I'm lucky enough to be a city bus ride away from the BFI IMAX in London (a very distinctive round building in the centre of a roundabout by Waterloo Station). Watched it in 70mm IMAX, definitely worth the experience even if I didn't get the best seat!
Thanks for the reminder! The Dallas 70mm IMAX just added additional shows. I finally got my tickets. Maybe more will go on sale at other locations as well?
Had a great 70mm film (non-IMAX) screening, thankfully. Shout out Park Theatre in Vancouver. It was beautiful.
Informative, thanks. I'm so bummed out they never built a real imax in Sweden and went for the xenon 2k :(
My local iMAX theatre tix were sold out for all sessions until end of August. The remaining seats are single seats on the edge and only for the front rows. This is going to be crazy!
I didnt hear jack squat about it until I clicked on this video.. now I'm quire intrigued.. hope there is one of them fancy theaters here in Phoenix.. off to the site i gooooo!!!
I saw the 70mm IMAX version and it was pretty cool.
I also had the experience of Navy Pier getting closed, sucks man. I've got tickets for Indy, I can't wait
Saw it in IMAX 1570 in Dallas and it was incredible.
I saw it at the Grand Canyon IMAX, and it looked incredible. No flaws, no notes. I’ll try to check it out on 70mm, but it’s not going to look as good as the laser.
Man, I so wish the two remaining 15/70 IMAX theaters in Mexico had projected Oppenheimer. I saw it at my city's newest theater, an IMAX LÁSER one. Amazing experience.
I did 35mm projection 2002-2004, still the job I look back on most fondly and I have arguably done way cooler stuff since. From the cans to the platter, I loved assembling the film and taking care of it. I remember the LOTR 3 ROTK almost didn't fit on the projector the film was so long...
I loved this movie. Watched it in 70mm a few days ago and really enjoyed it. It’s been a while that ive been to a theatre and a film got a standing ovation. Unfortunately I had to bolt to the restroom as soon as the movie ended as I was holding my pee for an hour but I really wish I was there participating in that clap session
I’ve got IMAX Laser (DL2) here in Sheffield England which was amazing to see Oppenheimer in that format but the IMAX 70mm is like an hour and 15 min drive to Manchester which is sold out till this Saturday and I might check it out in 70mm but to me that’s a long trip that’s worth considering 😎🔥🤔👊
I watched it in 70mm in Nashville, and it was phenomenal. The best screening of a film I’ve ever seen, and one of the best movies I’ve seen too. HIGHLY recommend watching it in IMAX of some sort!
@@milleniumman I could see how you could feel that way if you aren’t really a big fan of those sorts of topics. I found it very interesting; kept me at the edge of my seat!
Just booked a $1500 flight to California to watch it, sooo excited!!!
The now defunct theatre near me was once true 70mm IMAX, budget cuts happened and they switched to IMAX digital. Then another budget cut happened and they wound down last year.
Esquire imax in Sacramento did a good job. There was a tiny bit of dust on the film but it was great
