WAY ahead of its time. Clearly, his ability to handle multiple contrapuntal lines *and shape them independently*, *and play cleanly*, was beyond Barrueco, Fisk, and Russell. Its a shame he didn't get as much recognition worldwide.
Absolutely! Even though David Russell and others later performed and recorded the Toccata (and also the first keyboard Partita): but this at the time was way "avant la lettre." Far more complex (in contrapuntal textures and demands) than any of the lute suites or violin or cello transcriptions.
This is probably one of the most insane guitar arrangements of all time. Excellently performed by Kappel too. Absolutely bonkers!!!! He captures the spirit of original JS Bach piano partita on 6 strings!!!
I loved his GSP recording. I bought all the sheet music for it too. Quite a contrapuntal and tonal masterwork by such a world-class artist of such renown. Excellent. Nice to hear it again.
+Matt Peters Hey Matt, thank you for letting me know. You just put a smile on my face! I have the German version of the book but it frustrates me no end not being able to understand the explanations. I even contacted the German publishers once to ask them whether there was an English version (they said no). Would be very grateful if you ever drop me a link once that it is published in English. Best, T.
Hubert was my guitar teacher at the Musik Hochschule in Cologne. Back in the day. I graduated in Maastricht and was so influenced by Hubert that I rediscovered the guitar. The Maastricht teachers did not understand his style, which frustrated me enormously. Hubert felt equally misunderstood, which is evident in his career progression. Hubert has an enormous talent for the guitar, and his interpretation of Bach, Leo Brouwer, barrios, and many others made this music come to life. I live and work now as a celebrated film music composer with 35 international awards in America. My jury work, such as the Grammy, Bafta and European Film Academy, is added. I added a video in which you can clearly hear Hubert's sound and influence on my playing. ua-cam.com/video/x_y8kugjcjI/v-deo.htmlsi=IrcYpL77CZzqwdiE After that period I discover my own style.
it's not live. haha..... he can't play this live, you added noise to make it sound live., lol. why is there not a single video of him playing this live? because he cheated on the recording

@@robertoalexandre4250 So true!
This was recorded at Goudhurst Summer school in 1984, I was there... Awesome concert which included Henze Winter music too...

Excelente! Qué arreglo!!! Y muy expresivo, buenísimo.
... Belíssima musica de J. S. Bach ... Aqui numa magnifica interpretação ... Pelo genial guitarrísta Hubert Kappel ... BRAVISSIMO ... !!! ...

His book for classical guitar technique is definitive and an absolute masterpiece. Pity that there is no translation into English available.
+MrToritonaranja Hubert has had to change translators a few times (I had a go at it myself, ableit shortly), but it will be available in English soon!

Yes, there is a English version of his Guitar methods available from his website now.
2019 he released English version of "The Bible if Classical guitar". I'm a different player altogether since using it.
superb performance and JS Bach BWV 830 arrangement by Hebert Kappal
Thanks for the date, I've updated the description. Must have been quite a concert hearing the Henze sonata too!
Master performance
I've got this recording for years and never knew that it was live! Good stuff.
Carl Enquist I don't think the record/CD was taken from a live concert. Quite a feat to be able to play it live though!
It just sounds so exactly like the recording that I have! I just figured that it must be the same one. Thanks for posting it.
Great 👍
This demonstrates why we have music: words fail.

Yes, I can hear what you mean.
Great !
exelent!!!
İ have tried his version, it is so difficult, some parts unplayable for me, all congrats to him
İts just brilliant. Frightining too, does anyone know where this arrangment can ve found?
He did publish it and, having a look on the internet, still seems to be available.
@@selfTaughtGirl thanks a lot, I dont think İ can play it, just to see some passages and try a few notes may be.
Think I would have found looking at the sheet music too frightening! It certainly was quite a feat doing this live.
use keyboard organ version to play.
this Partita No. 6 was for piano or organ music, It is best if transcribe for 2 or 3-guitar ensemble.
Sehr gute Transcription
Came here from classtabs trying to learn Corrente
You must like a challenge!
Es la obra más bella de bach pero un poco más rápido como el maestro valen gould
tabs please
Courante was played without repetitions.

Such a pointless comment. It was played in a literal concert with audience.
Unerreichbar.
