Finally, there is someone else out there who uses Penetrol! It's simply the most amazing product for the metal shop. I always use the leftover product on the brush to coat my tools. I have a lamp post that has sat next to the Atlantic Ocean for 30 years with three coats of Penetrol and is still rust-free.
Take off all your tools off the stands, trust me on this one, flip all of them over, now in the hole of each rim that goes into the round pipe, fill all of them with sand , cap all with round metal disc's and weld them up. Now Heavyweight, and sound deading, Works every time....!
i've had these they are stable but collect a ton of dirt grinding and everything else and are very hard to keep clean a wood or metal cover would really help.
How about Truck rims or brake drums for added weight ? I make walking sticks and canes and once dried, I strip the bark off and without the added weight the stand would “walk” while tugging on the bark and, I also would require the stand to be height adjustable because my legs get tired so the need to set. and tug often prevails…I am 76, lol. I like you’re set as well. Thanks!
I actually did make some more back in 2020. I got 2 semi truck brake drums from the scrap yard. They were super heavy. I used them for the vice base and bandsaw base. Here's some pictures: ibb.co/6bcH0f2 ibb.co/PDZ8yv6 ibb.co/kMXgFB1 EDIT: One other thing. The break drums were very hard to weld, because the steel was so thick. My cheap harbor freight welder couldn't do it and i had to use a friend's Lincoln Welder to penetrate the steel.
HEY WAIT A SECOND......................... Why didn't you turn on the Anvil and the vice???? What don't they work???? LMAO Kidding of course great job!!!
I got it from a guy on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. First i checked at a local scrap yard, but the thickest stuff they had was like fence posts or basket ball hoop pipes. These were really thick and heavy, but they did cost like $50 or something.

Great video, thanks for the scrap yard advice.
Penetrol is good stuff
This was a great help to me, thanks for all the tips on how to find metal cheaply, the noise reduction from the felt and penatrol tip.
I think I'll build something similar, but I don't want that many stands so I'll probably put a tool on the front and on the back of the plates.

годится.но с наковальней не вариант) где бруски между ней и станиной
Should have smacked the anvil with a hammer in the outro 🤣
Hi..good idea....one question...during working....tend to bend all fall off right?
Going to make three - drill press, grinder, vise. Thanks!
Бред, занимают слишком много места. Имеет смысл для точила или гриндера. Типа вынес поточил пыль на улице, занес . Но не в таком варианте.

Too bad with all that work you put in to them that they'd been better looking rims.
Supercool. :) Congrats! Subscribed.
Very cool! Where did you source the round tube?

@@DaveWirth I don't think you need thick pipe for tool stands.
