  • Our son has finally decided to make an appearance on UA-cam! Say Hello to......
DONATE to our Quackers Memorial Pond Fund: www.gofundme.c...
Quackers was a much-loved pet Indian Runner Duck who lived at Mapperton in West Dorset, England.
Unfortunately a visitor to the historic house and gardens let her dog off the lead, and the dog attacked Quackers. The dog owner then retrieved the injured duck and wrung its neck before throwing the dead Quackers into the long grass.
There are numerous signs at Mapperton asking visitors to keep their dogs on a lead because of the ducks and chickens. And while accidents can happen, it is upsetting that the dog owner left the scene without saying sorry. Donate here: www.gofundme.c...
The story of Quackers has touched hearts across the nation, following news articles in several national newspapers and the BBC.
We have therefore set up the Quackers Memorial Pond Fund to celebrate the life of our beloved Indian Runner duck. The funds raised will be spent on the creation of a new pond which will attract wild ducks and other wetland species to Mapperton.
We will also plant trees, shrubs and aquatic plants in the pond, alongside a plaque to commemorate Quackers. In this way, we hope that her legacy will be the creation of a new wetland habitat which will provide a refuge for wild ducks and other wildlife for decades to come.
Please note that the more funds we raise, the larger the pond will be, and the greater the benefit will be for ducks and wetland wildlife.

If you lay a tarp underneath where you're picking then you can just gather the tarp and put all the apples that fall in the bin.

They do 'mesh' well, conversationally, as well as in humor. I fully expected that segment to fade out on a receding drone shot of them each taking one bite of every apple they picked! 😂

Howdy William! Happy Trails. It’s deeply inspiring and gratifying to see the next generation pitch in and take things seriously. Bravo.
Do you give the ground apples that are a bit spoiled to the pigs you raise?

I was watiching another YT channel where the farmer (in Vermont USA) had mentioned that ground apples that were donated to him to feed his pigs had fermented, which made his pigs a little tipsy ... lol!

Put netting on the ground around the tree to catch those that fall while you're picking. You could just shake the branches.

Great to see young William, top tip Apple's make cider young man😉. As times goes by you'll realise your daft old dad is your best pal, I bet in decades on you'll show this to your children/grandchildren. Spend as much time with your parents/grandparents as you can, even if you think it's boring. The memories, knowledge they have is invaluable. Your Grandparents are showing you the way, how much you have/ how little we have, it is always good to share with those who have less.

What a jam-packed episode! Luke, did you eventually find the pigs? What a nice way to get some exercise and appreciate the flora and fauna of the grounds. Side note, you might consider baseball as a hobby as I think you’d make a fine catcher. William could be pitcher on the team. The apple chutney looks delicious and I must try it. Did you reach any conclusions on the source of the water ingress? Charlie’s stonework looks just wonderful. Many good vibes to Julie and her dissertation.

Really nice program! Suggestion: Learn a star princess in the apple folktale and if you aren't using your tennis courts, consider converting them into pickle ball courts. Pickle ball is really picking up steam here in the U.S. (I think). Also, do you have problems with hoof rot with your horses? Do you think Dorsett green sand is healthier for horse's hooves than something like England's clay soil? Do you ever have a farrier visit? Or, can you do it yourself? Your followers might like to learn something of the process. Also, nice young man you've got there - he inherited his Mother's eyes and his Father's humor.

Fun time apple picking! William is a very nice well mannered young man! What an interesting gent your stone Mason is! He must be very proud of his son carrying on his trade! Good to have the drone to help you see the hard places to access. The views of the estate are beautiful!! Unbelievable what the pigs do to the ground! Good thing you are happy about it!!! Love from Pennsylvania, USA 💕🌷🐻

It's wonderful to finally be introduced to William. If William was willing, might you ask him his thoughts about becoming the next Earl and taking over Mapperton from the two of you one day in the distant future. Also, is he also a Viscount like you, Luke, or does he have to wait for the sad day the current Earl of Sandwich passes.

  • @kimberleybrown-j7y

Hilarious! More tasting than picking (well, not actually). If you want to shake the tree, spread a blanket under it first so you don't accidentally pick up the wormy windfalls, and you soften the fall. Apple picking is a traditional day of family fun in the USA... but not a pleasure for the human beings for whom it is a job.

My grandparents had fruit trees that we had to go down & pick each fall. They had about a football sized plot of various fruit trees. We would pick while grandma & my aunts worked in the kitchen putting the fruit up. We would can some, slice & freeze some and the ones not quite ripe would be wrapped and put in the sunroom to finish.

I think maybe you should get some horses for you, so you can cover more ground when on animal check, and herd them back to the right pasture. If you're going to continue picking apples, you need a proper apple ladder and a picking apron. Look it up. Happy cidering, pies, sauce, etc.

  • @MeMe-nw9mq
    @MeMe-nw9mq 2 години тому

Something that would make this task much easier. Spread old sheets or plastic tarps underneath the apple trees. You can set the ladder close enough to the tree branches. Shake the tree, the ripe apples will fall off and the sheets/tarps will make the ripe apples easier to pick up.
