      @@ClaireCarmichael Ahaha - carers are truly under appreciated (my mother was a care worker in another lifetime). How we look after our most vulnerable people is the barometer for how we measure our civilisation - and yourself and fellow carers are a god send! Good to see you have made this video providing more awareness of the role and its facets.
      Would you say there is a solution to improving staffing? Better incentives perhaps? More appreciation? Better staff environment? Etc

    Hi, now my children are grown up i feel that I want to do something with my life that would be so worthwhile as I love to help people but just worried that I would be too old to be a carer. Is there an age limit ? And also is there any advice that would make me overcome the part where the personal hygiene comes in. This is a different job route I would be taking but I feel the role would be so suited to myself. Thanks

    • @ClaireCarmichael
      @ClaireCarmichael  3 роки тому +3

      I used to work with a carer who was in her 70’s!! She never wanted to retire 🙈 she was amazing with the residents though :)
      There’s a lot of older people as carers, so don’t worry about age - there’s no limit at all ☺️
      To be honest, when you’re helping with personal care you don’t think about your own feelings, you’re more focused on how you’re helping that person at that time :) it’s also a good chance to look for skin breaks and pressure sores developing too 💙 until you go for it, you’ll never know. Go for it ☺️ have no regrets in life. Xx

      Charmyn I Thank you! To be honest, I left the care home purely because of management... the previous manager we had back then wasn’t the best! They didn’t listen to staff concerns, it was very much money orientated and not patients focused. And I didn’t like that one bit. I tried to speak with managers about it and nothing ever got changed :( so I left, I worked in sexual health after that for almost 6 years as I wanted something different. But then when I went into my nursing degree I found GP and saw how amazing it was there! My problem is, I love all nursing and id love to do everything 😂
