FUN FACT: The parody boy-band music video for this song by Press Play On Tape features Theo Engell-Nielsen in the cold shower. He happens to be somewhat famous for his part in writing the Adobe-killer Capture One program. Now he's creating RetroPaint, which does an amazing job at converting 24 bit images to machines from the 80's.
Neat compilation, thanks! FYI: If you add a "00:00 Intro" timestamp in the description, the rest should become visible as chapter markings in the timeline of the video.
I don't know if this is what you're looking for but, I consider it to be MOD or Tracker music. That, or Chiptune for the Nintendo consoles. ua-cam.com/video/8oqbeT2Plco/v-deo.html
I just checked out another gameplay video and yeah, I see what you mean! I was playing it in a VM so I guess the framerate was pretty bad? I had no idea because the music was still playing correctly.
I think some of it is accidental. Happens with bands that come up with songs that they think sound great and are original, but has subconscious familiarity. It's a known fact that people tend to like certain sound types that they've heard before on multiple occasions.
While it is true that that can happen, every example here is very clearly based on the same song. I'm pretty sure it was licensed out for use, which is why it's in so many games.
@@subliminalplaylists2381 As I stated last year, that can actually happen by accident. I'd be interested in a source for the licensing. I'm not convinced.
@@incumbentvinyl9291 For your information, the lead instrument and the 64-arpeggio chords in the Platypus version are played using a real 6581 SID chip through a SidStation. The bass is a Roland TB-303, drums are Roland TR-909. Those are analog. The original SID is still the best one in this list, however.
I hope Martin got paid for all those games.
I never knew this song had such a rich history. I know it from Platypus, never would've thought that version wasn't the original.
Platypus got this Comic Bakery remix from a Back In Time album, which was a compilation of C64 remixes in the first place.
There was a homebrew NES demo called "Stars SE" (1999) which had a cover of the song as well.

Very cool!
The one and only Martin Galway. This isn't quite the same level of genius as his 'Parallax' theme but it's still damn good.

That's a lot of games! I knew it best from the nes Jurassic park.
A lot of demos on Atari ST used it too 😊
Love this tune!
Just realized this a couple of weeks ago..
The original is fantastic, but i just love how the Gameboy sounds, way better than the NES much crispier.
❤

Thanks! TIL 😄
Wow a video about this topic! Not a bad thought OP ! Earned you a sub , my fav version is the gb jurassic park version actually
Thanks! Yeah, the first Gameboy version was the first I'd heard it, but I also love the key change in Jurassic Park 2. :)
I still can't find a version I had on my Amaiga. Where the main tune was played with a brass like sound with echo. Anyone?
heck yeah
Does anyone know what genre this song is? Is it trance?

C64 chiptune. Look up C64 Sidplayer or Amiga mods and there are 100,000+ songs from the 1980s-2000s.
I was wondering why it sounded familiar!
There's also a nice cover by Noisemaker

Very nice!
Lets not forget the version with words :

*All GREAT chiptunes ALL originated from the Commodore 64*
BTW The song has words ua-cam.com/video/5ZoLphdE7l8/v-deo.html
Your Platypus footage seems quite slow...

That Platypus game also stole Wizball's opening theme for it's intro/press start screens

@@incumbentvinyl9291nah, they're far too similar to be coincidence, note for note riffs in a lot of parts
I don't think they're identical. JP melody is far more creative and catchy.
The last two tunes are perfect examples on how to destroy a classic.
@TelPhi Yes, really.
8-bit instruments? That's funny!
The platypus versión is the first versión I ever heard, its my favorite. Whats yours?
Are you kidding? The Platypus version is the most pumped and still keeps the original melody
@@herr_crustovsky I'm not kidding.
