So it’s summer time and I wanted to show whiite Gold this Gem from 1993! All my 90s kids will know. This is FREE WILLY! When maladjusted orphan Jesse (Jason James Richter) vandalizes a theme park, he is placed with foster parents and must work at the park to make amends. There he meets Willy, a young Orca whale who has been separated from his family. Sensing kinship, they form a bond and, with the help of kindly whale trainer Rae Lindley (Lori Petty), develop a routine of tricks. However, greedy park owner Dial (Michael Ironside) soon catches wind of the duo and makes plans to profit from them.

I remember liking Orcas/Killer Whales after watching Free Willy. They are such beautiful creatures and my favorite sea creatures of all time.

I heard there was a RARE vhs of this film including behind the scenes footage that I have NEVER seen before. Somebody who has that rare VHS, needs to upload it and let it stay on UA-cam!!!
It was on Instagram, but it was removed, and us Free Willy fans never saw it again!!!!

Free Willy is one of my favorite childhood movie I I always want to watch the killer whale in SeaWorld and in 2014 I got the chance to go to SeaWorld I thought really was Shamu from SeaWorld I just watched the documentary blackfish so it's not free with it I just know later years later he died in the tank they made from Willie . But like I Love Orca BTW I have the VHS movies 🍿
Seaquarium films are rough so, Whiite gold should not see Jaws sequels then.

I had the VHS collector edition that came with the painted whale 🐋 knecklace when it came out in the 90s . I was 6 yrs old. I still have the whale part of the knecklace the Leather knecklace string fell apart from age years ago and VHS is lost but still got the whale 🐋.

I used to love this movie so much when I was a kid, but I’ve been afraid to watch it as an adult because it looks like it would ruin my love Re-watching it because it looks stupid lol seems dumb as hell but I’ll give it a sample go with you guys and if it’s still good I’ll show it to my son
It doesn't have to be good for you to be good for you son. Kids look for something different in movies. This is a kids movie . When I was a kid I saw this in theater and liked it. I saw Batman Forever in theater and loved that. As an adult that's a terrible take on Batman. But as a kid, the things that make it terrible like acting, effects, music, etc actually make it more fun for kids.
People saw this movie and tried to save the captive whale. They wasted millions of dollars and the whale died well before its time. Sometimes we should just leave things alone.
Ps- zoos and aquariums are the largest contributors to saving the wild… out of sight, out of mind.. if society never sees these animals.. how are we going to get them to care about them? How are we going to save their habitats if we get rid of the largest contributors to conservation?

I was 3 going on 4yo when this movie came out. But i remember seeing it when i was around age 7 and loved it. I still do. I remember the iconic seen when willy was freed and was jumping over Jesse in the middle of the ocean or lake (idk which one it was).
Just so you know, No Willy's fin didn't go back straight after he was set free & reunited with his family. His fin will unfortunately always stayed curved. I believe that may have been Willy's little sister u mistook him for, or some other relative of his.
28:21 it echos loudly in the water and disorients the under water animals. 30:05 it’s weird every park I’ve been at with any underwater animal they would get after you if you pounded on the glass even barely. 40:37 there’s a The Simpsons clip that they’re watching Free Willy and instead of clearing the wall he crushes. 41:35 no his fin won’t go back up.

I love the free willy movies well the first 3. The 4th has nothing to do with this willy. But I do love these movies. But I enjoyed this reaction.
there is cartoon from it, there is antagonist a rich business man who has mech hand but looks human hand, and hes corp has many issues so the kid goes to him to tell him that 1case where hes corp cause pollution and orcas are in danger and he mentions willy to (forgot how he reacted) but then he had a chance to kill hes nemesis who took hes hand, he use to work in whale hunting ship, that's where it happened
Fun fact this movie was filmed in the same town as the goonies very nostalgic for me I saw this at home after my mom got the vhs from McDonald's drive thru with Addams family
Also he was actually released to the wild in 2002 and died of pneumonia in 2003

Free Willy is not only the reason I regard orcas as my favorite animals, but how I became a fan of Michael Jackson, because of his song "Will You Be There"
