omg I genuinely thought The Pagemaster was something I imagined. I watched this as a kid in the 90s, and I haven't seen or heard anything of it again until this video. I didn't know what it was called, I didn't know who was in it or who made it, all I remember is the movie, so it got to the point where I just thought I'd imagined the whole thing
This movie is a classic. Yet another fairy tale of a child being thrown into a magical world to help them overcome their real life strifes, and finding courage in themselves to become a hero. I remember watching this in 2000 or 2001, and I had the VHS at home. Then I remember I went to camp, and on the bus ride, the driver had a copy of The Pagemaster to play. This story stuck with me for years, and I love it. The colors, the scores, the chemistry between the characters. It's clearly treated with a lot of love by the filmmakers, and respect for what they were trying to make.
It seems people who watched this at a young age truly felt it struck a chord with them. It's really cool to hear even years later it still holds that feeling. I definitely agree, you can see the love poured into the animation and into the movie they were striving to make
@@pineappleandlemon fun fact, the book of Horror had a backstory where he had a father encyclopedia and a mother paperback, so he felt he's always been in the wrong section of the library because of it.
I watched this as a young kid and Loved it. Amazing fun and bringing a small taste of classic fantasy, adventure, and horror by showing some of the most known characters from each as they go forward.
You really had to hit me in the childhood nostalgia. I remember watching this movie on VHS on our little (maybe) 15” CRT. Good days, now I’ve got a 24” flatscreen and utility bills. Lol. But this movie looks like it would be fun to revisit. The animation looks odd but high quality enough for me to give it a pass. Really cool 90’s-00’s niche animation pick. Another one of those which got picked up from blockbuster a lot for my family was the WB animated “Quest for Camelot.”
We like hearing about people's experiences with some of the more niche films, it really can take you back to a specific feeling of a past time. I think overall coming into the movie fresh it probably doesn't hold up as much, but you can feel the love poured into the animation. I think old picks at blockbuster is a great way of explaining movies of that time and evoke a particular nostalgia

We were wondering how many people had actually seen it! Must be such a blast from the past for you
Man that audiobooks bit was such a smooth segue into a video sponsor that I totally bought it for a split second until the hysterical laughter
Who knows maybe one day

That adds even more of an added layer as to why he's so scared. Cool to hear more fun facts
