- Wouldn't it be great to have vinyl reissues of these albums?! I pulled a stack of CDs from the 80s and 90s of albums that would be pretty awesome to get on vinyl. Let's badger the record companies and get our way! 🤣

How could I forget - we really need reissues of those early Church albums prior to Starfish, too! Lots of their other catalog as well! ⭐
I remember a meet and greet with the Church back in 2017 and I asked Kilbey about the 80's catalog and he said other entities own the rights to that. He didn't sound too optimistic. But you're right it's past due for a reissue campaign for their Parlophone/Carrere/Arista output.
Totally concur with The Church reissues. Have 13 of their cds and still more to buy. Especially love the early years. Forgot to mention. The ONLY Matthew Sweet I've heard is Girlfriend, MANY years ago. Guess I should check out the others. Thanks again.

100% on the Drop Nineteens album. I agree with you on this one. I fell in love with the band a few years back after first hearing the title track, "Delaware," but I think one of my favorites is "Kick The Tragedy." I don't think they lift too much from MBV, but can see why others feel that way.

Needle Mythology has briefly talked about plans/hopes to release Try Whistling This and One Nil on vinyl. They released the excellent Finn album last year.
How good is Neil Finn? He makes Paul McCartney sweat!

Real Ramona, I have on Vinyl and I guess I got that one when it came out. Saw them twice in London soon after. That Sundays Album is packed with great tracks; I don't know why no one seems to talk about it... or am I not paying attention.

Bowery Electric reissue was just announced by Kranky! It’s available for $22 on the label bandcamp page. 2xLP includes Deep Sky Objects which was originally only issued on the CD, plus their earlier Drop EP.

I had no idea Juliana Hatfield played on a Aimee Mann album! And I thought I owned everything she's been on. BED is an excellent choice for a vinyl reissue! One of her best for sure! I'd be happy to see Beautiful Creature get a vinyl pressing as well. That's in my top favorites list. BUCKINGHAM NICKS would be amazing for a repress! I found interesting, Jeopardy worked on a 'shoe-string' budget. Adrian's Father, did the mixing. He had a great knack, for layering.

spilt milk vinyl reissue is in the works saw a YT video where they had the master tapes pulled so they could start working on it.

Great video Hanna. Here are some of my most desired albums that need a reissue. The Refreshments - The Bottle & Fresh Horses, Motley Crue self-titled, Vince Neil - Exposed, Diamond Rio's whole catalog, BlackHawk's first two albums, Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction, Megadeth - Youthanasia, Warrant - Ultraviolence, Dolly Parton - The Grass is Blue, and Wynonna Judd - Tell Me Why. There are many more, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Rock on!

The Tracy Chapman debut and New Order’s Substance would be my only additions here, but an absolute YES to both those Sundays records and In Reverse.

Minus your Sundays and Juliana Hatfield mentions (which I’m deeply familiar with), I can remember seeing most of your picks during my stint working at the music store. Why I didn’t explore listening to those releases is beyond me.
Thanks to your channel and exquisite taste in music, seems like now’s the perfect time to see what I missed out on back then. I may even champion your call to reissue them.
For what it’s worth, here are my current 5 to be reissued…
1. Tatuki Seksu - Hanazawa EP (Takashi-kun Records, 2011)
…favorite track: “恋愛サーキュレーション” (excellent Japanese shoegaze, hopefully reissued as a 12”)
2. Shelling - Shelling (White Paddy Mountain, 2013)
…favorite track: “If I’m You” (another excellent Japanese dreampop / shoegaze album)
3. Spirits Of Leo - Yearning (Self-Released, 2015)
…favorite track: “Shadow Of A Doubt”
4. Reigning Sound - Too Much Guitar! (In The Red Recordings, 2004)
…favorite track: “If You Can't Give Me Everything”
5. Dolly Mixture- Everything And More: Box Set (Self-Released, 2010)
…favorite track: Since it encompasses the name of the box set, “Everything And More” (want a full vinyl box set reissue. I’d definitely pay the asking price.)
Don’t hold your breath. Sometimes it doesn’t happen for 10-15 years for bands that aren’t too popular and never or maybe once for obscure bands
The Sundays and Aimee Mann are high on my repress wish list, too. I would include the Go-Betweens to that list. Hope all is well, Hanna! You always spark great interest in hunting down new-to-me music.
Hey Scott! The Go-Betweens released those box sets not too long ago. If I had known about them sooner I probably would have gone that route instead of getting my originals, which are quite pricy, but yeah, new quality reissues maybe in vinyl expanded editions would be sweet! The expanded CD editions were really nice. I have two of those. Thanks for the kind words! New video in the next day or two!

@@TheOmahaIntrovert Native Son-$35 for the RSD colored vinyl. CD be $3! Oh boyyyy poor ‘Bats. My old pal Val was dating the drummer by album 2, so I recall driving around with a tape of an advance copy of Down in the Shacks.
@@TheOmahaIntrovert I have both of those first two or three Judybats CDs somewhere in the collection here, but packed off. I was just busting out their "How It Is" from album #2 earlier, using the new "Metal" guitar, but in a Vox AC30 gentle mode. LOL That might sound better though on the 12-string, it's got that jangly sound. Actually tons of acoustic in the background on that track. It's a shame the second LP didn't do as well, I thought it was even better almost than the first. We saw Judybats at Wetlands once when the lineup changed, it was good, but not the same at all. Jeff was, as always, a terrific and nice guy. He was nice to us from day one and I never forget that. Also the rest of the band were super sweet folks. Peggy was the nicest! She was funny as fook!! Last I heard she was running her own bakery biz in Knoxville TN.
@@TheOmahaIntrovert I also managed to figure out (finally) Love and Rockets No Big Deal, dialing in the fuzztone/buzzsaw grunge sound he does using the Zoom gizmo. Hehe! Not like it's a hard song. I need to really buy a Fuzz pedal I think. The Zoom got it very close, but the fuzz pedal you should be able to dial that sound in more directly.
I was going to mention the Sundays before I even watched your video. Love them and bought all the cds when new. I too missed the RSD releases for all 3 of their albums but am not surprised to see those was not good pressings, or at least RWA. Repress them all at a high quality!!!

Great video Hanna. Love those albums from The Sound. My favorites are actually the BBC Recordings and Propaganda. Had to pay a chunk of cash for BBC cd. Some of the inflated vinyl prices steers me into cd acquisitions instead. If only I had a "vinyl trust fund". Glad you mentioned Warm Inventions, The Sundays, and of course love the Nonsuch album behind you. Have a nice holiday weekend. Gratitude.

I have the original UK vinyl release of Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, and it is a nice sounding version. I have always been a big fan of the throwing Muses and Belly.. I Will be off to see Kristin Hersh doing a gig in a local church venue at the end of this month on her new album tour in the UK.

I felt the same for Scott Weiland... and finally, on record store day, we got one vinyl 12 Bar Blues, such a great vinyl, too. Also, I'm sure you know... but Aimee Mann, released Bachelor No 2, was released on the same RSD. It's fantastic, on green transparency vinyl.
Unfortunately I missed out on that Bachelor No 2 RSD reissue. If I recall, I don't think my store got it in or I was too late. Sigh. Can only hope her catalog will be reissued at some point! Cheers!
For me it would be the Beautiful South catalog and the first 2 Artful Dodger albums (Self titled and Honor Among Thieves).

Hi Hanna! Although this has been the year of reissues, there are definitely a ton more that we all desperately need for sure. I put my thinking cap back on and came up with a few more that I would like to mention:
1. Fleeting Joys - Despondent Transponder (There was a reissue in 2021, but Europe only)
2. Astrobrite - Pinkshinyultrablast (This has been CD-R, digital and cassete only)
3. Sway - Sway (I don’t believe this has ever been on vinyl, maybe CD-R only?)
4. Sway - The Millia Pink And Green EP (Last reissued in 2014 and going for $175-$299)
5. Whirr - Distressor EP (Reissued in 2020 direct from the band going for $100. Also in 2014, but copies are $50-100)
6. Whirr - Sway (The 2015 reissue is going for $200)
7. Whirr - Around (Last reissued in 2013)
8. Pinkshinyultrablast - Everything Else Matters (Last and only edition is 2015 and estimated between $85-$200)

Totally agree about Aimee Mann - her albums desperately in need of a reissue (Whatever and Im With Stupid). As well as The Sundays (all of them) and Jellyfish (both but especially Spilt Milk). All stuff I havent got and would love to have. Another album worthy of a vinyl release would be XTC - Fossil Fuel.

I remember peel playing drop nineteens I’ve still got various tracks on compilation tapes
Last summer I found a couple copies of Bellybutton and Split Milk respectively by Jellyfish in a box full of mostly punk CDs.I didn’t end up keeping them cuz I had found Bellybutton at a record store on my birthday last year and the latter ended up being unplayable so definitely need to find a copy of Split Milk.I also happened to have come across a copy of an album by Bowery Electric while I was up in Toronto for my birthday last month and i wanted to get it but was working on a budget…would’ve been cool to get it tho!

Awesome video! I'd love to see The Rentals "Return of the Rentals" and "Seven More Minutes" on vinyl. Also, I'd be very happy if Seam's "The Problem with Me" and all the Acetone albums were reissued as well.

All my favorite punk records from the 1970's and early '80's have been reissued; except for some private pressings of local bands. I thought maybe the Adicts never were reissued, but checked Ebay and they were reissued a few years ago and all sell for the $30 range.

I don't have those two Throwing Muses albums on vinyl either. I had The Real Ramona on cassette and then CD and University only on CD. I'd love The Sundays on vinyl too! When they were just breaking I went to see Yo La Tengo and I hadn't heard Sundays and they were on the bill. The little club was overwhelmed and I didn't even get in. You need to be aware of the buzz sometimes!

Buffalo Tom Big Red Letter Day and Sleepy Eyed. Teenage Fanclub's Gran Prix, The Gray's Ro Sham Bo and the first October Project. And yes The Sundays!!!
Hi Conrad! Love those Buffalo Tom albums! Teenage Fanclub's Grand Prix, along with their other 90s albums were reissued a few years ago. I have them and they come with a 7". Superb!
For me it is :
- first 4 Danzig (OG’s sound fantastic, production by Mr. Rubin)
- Mando Diao with Hurricane Bar and Never seen the Day of Life (fantastic Swedish indie garage band, check it out)
- The Sound with From the Lion’s Mouth (even better than Jeopard imo)
- early stuff from the Hellacopters like eg By the Grace of God

Great video. The dB’s originals are not that hard to find and sound great. I agree that In Reverse is Matthew’s best album. I’ve pointed it out to Shane (Intevention). Sundays debut is a gem. I bought the picture disc when it was released but it was unplayable on my basic turntable. Returned it and got the cd instead… but I did buy the original UK standard vinyl some years ago. So good.
I've got The Sundays manufactured by Columbia under license. Probably legit. It's as close to new as new can be. I'll play it today and see what I think. Bummer the 90s was the decade vinyl was no longer an option. Summers over, have a pleasant Labor Day weekend. Thanks.

Great vid. V cool. Verbena! Thats a great cd. Good suggestion. You briefly mentioned Royal Trux. I think their major label debut Thank You, recorded by Neil Young's guy David Briggs is a worthy candidate. In the piwer pop department id say Gigolo Aunts: Flippin Out. Adam Lasus who worked at Fort Apache and since has had Studio Red worked winders with their stuff. Oh, And Paul Westerberg's debut solol Thirteen Songs. Well, thnx again. Michael Fremer (tracking angle) recently made a video of his tour of Iron Mountain. During the video, one of the sound technicians is seen working with the Jellyfish master tapes. They don't discuss what they're doing, but they're doing something...fingers crossed.

Really enjoy the channel. I started getting back into all the music i listened to and am rebuilding my vinyl collection. Im 52 now so theres a lot to explore again. You have turned me on to a lot a great artists that i never knew at the time and reminded me of a lot of others. Good the see The Lemonheads in the background. One of the best albums ever.

Another awesome episode, that Matthew Sweet recommendation I am going to look for the CD if its not available on vinyl I have 3 of his releases, GF, AB and 100%. In Reverse sounds great. Saw him live at Summerfest about 10 years ago in Milwaukee. That Ride album in the background have you done an episode about that one? Its a very good listen from ‘92 I believe. @@TheOmahaIntrovert Oh yeah, Molly Says & Never Before are top tier dB's, wish the powers that control the IRS records vault would let that go. Got to see The Who before we lost John Entwistle at RFK stadium in DC, they opened for themselves with a half hour of Tommy & played for over 2 hours with a horn section & backup singers, even had Rough Boys in the set, amazing night!
Unfortunately the first time I saw the Who it was right AFTER Entwistle passed. I was so bummed. It was still a great show, though. Pete is my favorite!

For me, top of my list would be John Cale's 90s and early 2000s albums and David Byrnes 90s and 2000s albums (especially Everything That Happens Will Happen Today with Eno). And for the reverse, they actually need to reissue The Sound's early albums on cd. Impossible to find any copies and I really need them :)

@@giantsteps69 Totally agree. A seriously underrated gem. As is Feelings (to a lesser extent). And I actually really enjoy Rei Momo as well and think it has some of his best songwriting (I know how alienating that album can be with Byrne fans). I would love a nice remaster of that one on cd and vinyl.

The one I desperately would like to see reissued is the debut LP by Scottish indie pop band Camera Obscura, "Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi" -- they teased it a few years ago but it never came to fruition (at least it hasn't yet).
I only have Desire Lines from Camera Obscura on vinyl but I'd love to get more. Fingers crossed we get some reissues. Underrated band! Cheers!

"Repercussions" by the dBs is an album I wore out in the day. Glad you are championing them. I have the Propeller Sounds compilation as well. What a cool label THEY are. Just reordered a Love Tractor reissue from them.

I first heard about the Sound several years ago when I bought some Comsat Angels CD reissues on the Renascent label. But I didn’t actually listen or look at them until this year when I downloaded and burned their albums. It’s strange how forgotten they seem to be, at least in the U.S. I guess, unlike their contemporaries, Joy Division, Chameleons, Fall, Bunnymen, and even the Comsats, they never broke here at all. Our loss, because they are one of the best of that “northern” genre.
Yes, it's a shame the Sound were and are so overlooked to this day. Looks like something else was put out on vinyl just recently. I'll have to see what exactly that release entails. Someone suggested a box set of their material and I would certainly pay up for that! Cheers!
I love those Matthew Sweet albums. 100% fun is my fave and I see the vinyl there in the background. My friend had a CD version of 100% fun called 110% fun..
I think it was an Australian CD release with extra tracks..

My Holy Grail vinyl would be to find the Chris Bell "I Am The Cosmos" single released by Chris Stamey in 1978 on 45. It probably costs a fortune for an original; but I wonder if they ever reissued it?
I see XTC's Nonsuch there on the wall too. Another good one.......only have it on CD.
It's nice they are reissuing all this great music on vinyl but I just can't bring myself (yet) to buying them again unless its an upgrade from a cassette or worn out old album (which I have many)

Hey there! Yes, Intervention Records did a fantastic job reissuing the early Matthew Sweet LPs. That 110% Fun Australian CD version definitely sounds interesting!
The recent run of XTC reissues are impressive and I recommend them if you're missing any more!
I also vote for that Chris Bell single as a reissue. I'll have to look up what the originals go for. I'm guessing it's not affordable!

all 3 of The Sundays' albums need a proper reissue! I have the RSD reissues of Static & Silence (it's fine, no issues) and Reading Writing & Arithmetic. The mastering issues on the latter album she mentions are strangely distorted hi-hats (they sound like crunchy 8-bit samples, def. not how they are supposed to sound. I missed the Blind reissue (no surprise, as all of these reissues have been in shockingly low numbers for a band that had decent chart success in the 1990's. Time for a proper reissue campaign!)
Agreed that it is well past due for these albums to be properly reissued for the masses! I'm not a fan of strictly RSD releases. Some are just too hard to get! I appreciate you watching! The Sundays forever!

I was a punk kid in 1977 and wasnt hooked to any new band until I was 19 and that was The Db,s two first albums. At the time I seamed to be the only person to like this and I was really surprised!
They had everything,m the beat, the songs , but no no one liked them. I love them they are just the best powerpop band out there.
It's hard to imagine anyone not liking the dB's but apparently the people didn't catch on, which is sad. I feel they were one of the more innovative power pop bands of that time! Cheers and thanks for watching!
As a vinyl collector in the 1990s and early 2000s I was disappointed that Kenickie: Get In, Bis: Return To Central and My Life Story: Joined Up Talking were CD releases only. I'd collected everything they'd done up to that point on vinyl. After watching a couple of your videos I'm tempted to check out Jellyfish too 😊

I recently ordered an Italian reissue of Supersuckers' "Must've Been High" from 1997. Maybe it's just me but it sounds like it's slightly sped up. It just sounds different. Originally it was CD only so maybe it had got tweaked to fit on the album. Also the songs are out of order from the track list. O'well... 😂
I remain a cd addict. I buy very few vinyles (only my stellar albums). Scritti Politti's forthcoming White Bread Black Beer should be one of my scarce purchase of the year. But I couldn't also not resist to a enhanced boxset of the Sundays albums.

Pure speculation here but, Michael Fremer did a video a few weeks ago of one of the Universal Music Group’s tape vaults. Massive place and a very interest video. In any case, there was an employee at their work station listening to both Jellyfish studio albums original masters through headphones. She explained that she was listening for dropouts or other problems. I don’t know anything about it, but my inner Jellyfish fanboy instantly concluded that someone has licensed those tapes for a reissue. Hope the fanboy in me is correct.

We have seen many licensed & unlicensed reissues manufactured & put out by independent companies. With LP's by established artists redone by the original label. Hope you can successfully lobby & get quality versions of all your favorite LP's pressed for vinyl. Nice T- shirt, & there is a group who could use some reissues of their first LP's.
