You might want to insulate those inside walls around your utility room (washer & dryer), so you can't hear them running when you are in your office doing voice overs.
For the laundry room, yall should do one of those wooden folding tables that can fold up flat against the wall when not in use! That way you have it if you need it but it can also be tucked away and won’t take up space when not in use 😇

I made a drop down "bar" it is really our kitchen table. I have a small home and It is up when in use and then I have 2 "L" brackets that I push in to lower the table and I place my bar stools in front of it when not in use. It might help with space so it feels bigger when guests come over. Great DIY project! I love mine!!!
I’m glad you decided to do a mezzanine for storage above the laundry room that’s a great idea. I have one with pull down stairs like an attic and it’s great storage. I personally would incorporate a wall of cabinets like you used for the pantry for additional storage space for games and non seasonal decor that you rotate throughout the year. It’s coming along well and ya should be dang proud of yourselves 👏

When I was in college it took me forever to start writing a paper but once I started writing, words came easier and easier. 😊 I love that you had to convince Dylan to get into the hungry root unboxing with you. I’m so glad he did hungry root with you, it made the unboxing so much better. 😊 I love seeing all of the hard work and dedication you and Dylan put towards the building. I can’t wait till it’s finished but I know it will take time. 😊🥰
For your laundry room- double drywall it for sound proofing, put a 42” pocket or barn door to allow for moving a washer or dryer or freezer in and out, plus you won’t hit your hands on the door jamb when carrying a laundry basket; if you do a barn door, have it open into the laundry room instead of the outside wall so you can decorate that wall OR, if the door is on the outside, think about a mural wallpaper for that wall for an accent since you wouldn’t be able to put pictures or decor on that wall; the above attic storage is brilliant just make sure you make the ladder wide enough and about 36” wide to allow bins to be placed into the access and add a winch to lower and raise heavy bins And I agree about roughing in a half or 3/4 (shower, toilet, sink) bath . I would put a sleeper sofa in the entertainment area and agree with speakers in the ceiling, pick a wall and instead of a TV, get a WiFi projector you can mount on the ceiling or a portable one like a Nebula one with a power bank tripod where you can either watch movies inside or outside. Oooh! Dylan mentioning about a deeper windowsill once the drywall is up means herbs or plants! I loved your pics from the wedding and especially of you and Dylan.
I think you should put that round table and chairs by the laundry room wall so you can play board games on it. It can be an entire family room to watch movies and play games. I am loving your addition. You two are doing a fantastic job and it is very inspiring!

We put 3x6x12 bricks under ours to raise it, and its solid took about 5. Getting closer and closer to being done. I'm super excited for you. We still love ours.💙💙💙
I wouldn’t do a separate laundry room, it seems like so much space now but it’s gonna get cramped. Just build a closet for the washer and dryer with space for some cabinets on top and put in some shutters doors to close kit off when not in use. You’re gonna loose too much space with a laundry room and hallway..
Hi Karrie! I have tons of washing like you and when I made a new laundry room I made sure it worked for me. I included base level cabinets for storage, a worktop over for folding clothes, four compartments to put each person's clothes once folded (they then put away themselves) and a hanging rail for items that can't be tumble dried. I can send you a pic if interested, it works so well and is a much smaller space than yours. The building is going to be great!! Xx

I really like your plans for the extension. Closing off the laundry room and adding storage above is smart. Adding the arch with a door also gives you the ability to work there even if your children are in the family room area of the extension.

Here are a few thoughts I have: 1) make sure you have some kind of a counter area in your laundry room, even if its not very big 2) make sure the hall area where you are putting the bar table is really wide enough. I had a similar area in my old kitchen and when people were sitting there, there wasnt enough room for other people to walk through. It just didnt flow well! 3) how are you getting air to the laundry area? You dont want it to get hot in there during the summer and 4) make sure you put insulation in the laundry walls for sound proofing! Maybe you already thought of this stuff, but its just what came to my kind. Keep up the great work!!!
It looks fabulous Karrie, would you consider a port a potty like they use in camping and put it in the laundry room so you won't have to walk to the house. You could have hand wipes available since you don't have a sink but I wonder if you could put a utility sink in the laundry rooom. Just some thoughts! Great job!

Make laundry room door to back, if you close that area off that is wasted space, you could add a toilet and pedestal sink and then either do a Murphy bed or sofa bed interest in there at night. Love watching you and Dylan work together.

When you first talked about the laundry area, I envisioned the whole area including the door as part of the laundry area. If you made it the full width of the building, you'd have room to add a half bath later if you wanted. It would also give you more wall space for furniture. I know that would prevent you from getting the arched door you want, but it is an option you might want to think through. You would have more storage space in the laundry for pool items and an area for changing clothes. I'm sure whatever you do will be lovely and give you more functional space than what you had before.
We wrote scriptures on the Sheetrock when we built our addition in our first house and put pictures of us. Who knew 30 years later we would find them when we had a termite problem. My Son became a contractor because of that house so when we rebuilt it we put another picture of us in the current time. From ten years old to 40 years LOL that house was beautiful Now three years in the smaller new one and Having fun redoing it.

I would suggest you use painters tape and tape your walls/rooms before actually doing the framing. This will allow you to get a feel for what it will feel like before you finalize plans.
It is so hard to have patience when you have so much stuff you want to do but you have to do stuff a little at a time especially with having to work with available time and with how expensive everything is now.

Make laundry room door to back, if you close that area off that is wasted space, you could add a toilet and pedestal sink and then either do a Murphy bed or sofa bed interest in there at night. Love watching you and Dylan work together.

When you first talked about the laundry area, I envisioned the whole area including the door as part of the laundry area. If you made it the full width of the building, you'd have room to add a half bath later if you wanted. It would also give you more wall space for furniture. I know that would prevent you from getting the arched door you want, but it is an option you might want to think through. You would have more storage space in the laundry for pool items and an area for changing clothes. I'm sure whatever you do will be lovely and give you more functional space than what you had before.

We wrote scriptures on the Sheetrock when we built our addition in our first house and put pictures of us. Who knew 30 years later we would find them when we had a termite problem. My Son became a contractor because of that house so when we rebuilt it we put another picture of us in the current time. From ten years old to 40 years LOL that house was beautiful Now three years in the smaller new one and Having fun redoing it.

I would suggest you use painters tape and tape your walls/rooms before actually doing the framing. This will allow you to get a feel for what it will feel like before you finalize plans.
It is so hard to have patience when you have so much stuff you want to do but you have to do stuff a little at a time especially with having to work with available time and with how expensive everything is now.
I’m so happy for you . The building will be perfect because you have great vision and wonderful taste . Dylan cracks me up with his socks and flip flops on together ! How’s he do that lol.
