Thank you, this is a big help while I'm currently learning 1st kata, as it is filmed from behind therefore it is easier than looking front on when you first start! GKR have fantastic Sensais. I hope this lady continued and is now black belt!
She's a yellow belt doing probably first tournament with nerves. She did well to remember the kata in this situation and techniques will improve with time!
@@michelehemlokhexwhite4310 I’m not saying she didn’t deserve to win Gold, as clearly she was the best of the people competing on the day in Kata. But this video was 11 years ago, I think standards have improved. The first thing you learn from day 1 of being a white belt is zenkutsu dachi. Correct width in the stance. So your hips are pointing forward. Here, as she is in the same line her hips are off all on the strikes 45/90 degrees. Meaning she is reaching with the shoulder. I don’t think, having recently do tournaments and watched the lower belts while warming up this would be upto standard for today.

john prince - armchair sensei. this is great for yellow belt. well done and gold is well deserved.
A really good slowed down version of this is 'Warren Levi Karate - Taikyoku Shodan - Slow Speed' .
This is my karate school. I love GKR!!
They are really good.
She is slow the leg position is wrong supposed not to be in the same line. Hand move is strange must be strong and fast

Not good 1. Need to say AI! Also it needs to be faster.. For you it might be different because in gkr Region 18 south London we do it faster..
bart it doesn’t matter how fast or slow she goes, it’s own timing. The focus is on doing the steps right. Region 3 Sydney Australia
Faster? Speed ( unless there's natural speed in the kata) is probably the worst thing you can do in a competition. Spoken like a greenbelt lol.
