This is the most incredibly stupid comment I've seen in a while. Nadia's bars were much closer than this; Daniela does a different mount and a Deltchev, whereas Nadia did completely different skills. Even if she did do the same dismount, TONS of gymnasts have used that dismount. You obviously don't know anything about gymnastics.
This was not her greatest routine, if you compare it with the one she gave at the 88 Olympics it's easier, in the Olympics she makes to releases making the second a Tckackev.
IMHO if they can justify giving Laschenova a 10.00 in the AA, for a routine with missed handstands sloppy releases and a huge cowboyed double tuck ,then this certainly deserves one too. I will admit I preferred Fan Di here but I have no problem with the tie either.
I believe aside from the detailed account, that is exactly what I said. I was born in 92 after the revolution, and only lived in Craiova through 96, most of my time was spent in the care of the Orthodox Church so I didn't know much of what was going on at the time, and I haven't been back.
Poor girl, I bet she wanted then to help her. Back then, did the gov. help you only if you won the all-around in an Olympics? Do they help the gymnasts now if they bring a medal home from an Olympics and world competitions after they retire?
yes i agree her dismount was sloppy in the air and on the stalter full twist on the low bar she didnt end the full in vertical, but back then the soviets and romanians always got "the benifet of the doubt" but Silivas was a wonderful gymnast, and i dont want to take anything away from her she was still top of the class in this field of gymnasts,,
I read in a Romanian newspaper that for gold it's 35000 euros, silver 28000, bronze 21000. The government decided to double these amounts. They also pay for 4th place - 14000 euros, 5th - 10500 and 6th - 7000. There are other prizes, from private donors. For her gold medal, Sandra Izbasa received a new car.
Nowadays they do get money for their medals. I know Sandra Izbasa received a new car. I could be wrong, but I think they receive 30000euros for gold. In the days of Daniela Silivas it was different. Then the revolution of 1989 cam about, and for a while they even closed the center at Deva. So she had to retire. I've heard that recently they've made some sculptures of famous gymnasts, but not for Daniela. What a pity! She is one of the greatest gymnasts ever.
I think the Romanian Gov, doesn't really help them at all. They more use them, she actually lives in the US now. I can't see how not winning all around gold would affect much, since she's one of the most prolific medalist's in Gymnastics history, 10 world medals, 10 European, and 6 Olympic, most of them Gold..
I am not really sure of the criteria that has to be met to score a perfect 10. (I know it has to be perfect, duh, but i dont know why this was considered perfect.) I saw a few deductions in there, and it was almost like they were overlooked. Dont get me wrong, she is an amazing gymnast, and would wipe the floor with all of todays best gymnasts put together. But, why were her deductions overlooked and noone elses were?
0:10 0.1 didn't reach a full handstand 0:11 0.3 for lack of height 0:19 0.1 for not pointing toes 0:27 0.3 for separated feet 0:28 0.1 for wide landing and a hop on the landing That's AT LEAST 0.9 deductions
She has really perfect looking handstands on the bars. I think in the olympics previous to this, I remember something about how she won 3 out of the 4 EF golds, but not the AA because the girl who did got a 10 on floor and went before her, so even though she did better, there wasn't a score higher than a 10. So since she had a teeny hop on vault and the other girl didn't, she lost the AA. Seemed so unfair. If only she had done her floor routine before the other girl!
Silivas got a 10.00 for her floor in the Olympic AA. It was on vault that she was given a 9.95. Should've been a 10.00 considering all of the imperfect 10.00s that the judges handed out like candy at those Games.
I heard that they did erect a number of sculptures of famous gymnasts including Silivas in Deva this year, trying to encourage their gymnasts to continue the tradition. BTW, Romanian head coach Forminte told the Chinese media that the reason Romanian gymnastics fell backward is because the girls are getting too "Westernized" and they need to be "coddled." The abuse allegations against former coaches did more lasting damage to Rom gym program than anything else.
There are two ways to look at it. Compared to the other girl you refer to Silivas vault should have only been a 9.8 at best, but since the scoring then was ridiculously easy she got a 9.95 for a vault that was far away from perfection. The other girl as you refer to her to didnt even have a perfect vault but under ridiculously easy 88 scoring standards was probably worth a 10.3 compared to the others but could only get a 10.
She was definitely given some going away gift golds at these Worlds. Bars and floor she should not have tied the winner. Beam is hard to say, the two best routines blew it on the dismount and other top ones were either not in the final or also missed, but her routine was both unspectacular and had mistakes as well.
Her and Comaneci were the best Romanian gymnasts
The lady of tens , I love this girl
In olympics and worlds nobody has got so many tens as her

So nice to see Boginskia and the Chinese girl shake hands on Daniela's 10.

her handstands are gorgeous!!
Silivas the superstar!
Poor girl, I bet she wanted then to help her. Back then, did the gov. help you only if you won the all-around in an Olympics? Do they help the gymnasts now if they bring a medal home from an Olympics and world competitions after they retire?
My all time favorite gymnast EVER!
How did the romanian gov.help her after she retired? What privileges did she get?
this is not a ten dude
It was back then. Different code, different standards.
she had really great staulders(sp?).
Stalders. 🙂

Who is the other gymnast she's talking to?
Potorac.

What did Steliana Nistor and the rest of the gymnasts of the Romanian Olympic team get
for their medal in the team competition in
Beijing?
I think the Romanian Gov, doesn't really help them at all.

No help at all, she was pretty much forgotten.
Interesting how pedestrian these dismounts seem now.
she shouldnt have got a ten her legs were appart on her dismount
They didn't take deductions for leg separations back then like these days - unless you had a huge cowboyed somersault.
it's gabriela potorac
Para mí, la mejor gimnasta después de Nadia Comaneci!!
Super! Daniela Silivas! De nota 10 ❤❤❤❤❤
What's the name of the move from .17-.20?
georgert I dont know
Stalder with full- pirouette

Today's gymnasts are miles better is every way, look at Nastia Liukin or Simone Biles, Or Nina van der Wael
the kick out on the dismount is great and also makes the routine a little bit mre special & effortless. Deserved a ten!
CEA MAI BUNA GIMNASTĂ ROMÂNCĂ!!!!!
So cute
Ce performanță???!!
why isnt this a a perfect ten? where are the deductions?
0:10 0.1 didn't reach a full handstand
0:11 0.3 for lack of height
0:19 0.1 for not pointing toes
0:27 0.3 for separated feet

Not in that code.

I completely disagree. But to each their own.
Strazheva is the one who should have tied Fan Di for the gold and this should have gotten bronze at best.
nice rotuine but i wouldnt say a 10. maybe a 9.9 or 9.8 because her feet werent together on the landing and a few minor things
Those weren't deductions in that code. It was 1989, not the 2000s.
This routine doesnt deserved a perfect ten, sorry. If not comparable to the gorgeous routine of the chinese gymnast i don't remember her name.
I’m not that impressed.
Too each their own. I'm VERY impressed, especially with her gorgeous form on handstands and toe point.
Honestly, that was pretty uninspiring compared to Olga Korbut's routine 20 years earlier.
