Which player today would you pick to defend AI? Who could keep up?
No one has answered. So I guess no one. 😆
lol no one.... superstars like AI, KB, Shaq, LBJ etc can't be guarded 1 on 1. But i'd put Kawhi on him if i had to pick
Their is this guy down in okc they call him Luguentz Dort.
Alex Caruso, Avery Bradley, and Patrick Beverley they would get killed in the AI cut but they will make him work for his 50-60 points.
Westbrook and him or watching him and kyrie go at it would be official.
Kobe said it best "We should all thank God Iverson isn't 6'5"
💯
Indeed
I think it was something like three inches taller..
Ai definitely goated
Hahahaha really! I don't remember that. Gold
@@mrinfinitemonkeycage5668 Yeah he said it. Also said AI was the reason he had to get better after Allen dropped 40 on Kobe.
So basically Kobe is mentally draining cause you know where he's going to be poppin up but yet cant stop it, but AI is physically draining cause you'll never get a break guarding him.
Damn couldn't have said it better champ
Well said
Well said indeed.
On point assessment
Yeah it seems like Iverson works you crazy but I think thats expected when Iverson is so small and quick.
Kobe did say that the league was lucky Iverson wasn't 6'5.
Iversons motor was definitely unmatched. Back then, people actually watched regular season games because honestly it was like the playoffs every time big names played.
The early to mid 2000s was amazing, as far as superstar perimeter players were concerned.
You are %100 correct. That is why the regular season is unwatchable at this point. Nothing is at stake, not even bragging rights.
AI, Kobe, Vince, McGrady, Steve Francis, Shaq, Jason Kidd, ect those were the days right there
Clippers vs Philly games were my favorite games to go to. Couldn't afford laker tickets so we'd buy Clippers vs Philly every year. Unreal to see him live
OPTIMISTPRIME99 the players who were in their prime during the early 2000s era grew up watching Jordan. Man, early 2000s nba was amazing.
Alot of people discredit iverson because he didn't win a ring and his shot selection... but the players who had to guard him know whats up.. he was 6 foot flat 150 lbs giving the nba WORK.. when ur peers respect u.. nothing else matters..
Apparently, he wasn't even 6ft. They say now he was 5'10
Facts, and that was the physical era of the N.B.A.
@D T And Sprewell. He was literally known for that (before he choked his coach that is lol)
@D T No disrespect, but I'd also add Rodman in his best years.
Literally no one discredits Iverson. Stop
the scary part is prime Iverson could sneak a dunk on you too
Facts 😂😂
That putback he had against the raptors is crazy....
Announcer goes "ohhhh nooo"
AI used to bang on big men consistently during his Georgetown days.
You must have never seen college Iverson lol look up his Georgetown dunks
Sneak a dunk? ....iverson was yammin on everybody in college and first year or 2 in the league
So guarding iverson was basically like guarding someone with crazy talent but on 200 Red Bull’s lol 😂
H.o.f.
LOOOL pretty much and playing pretty much the whole game.
Plus on defense he in yo face for the inbound lol
Yup never stops
He use 2 stalk the passing lanes
Just happy to see he gave iverson credit I don’t think enough players will
I agree. Same with Gilbert Arenas too. Not on that level but Arenas was extremely talented at one point.
Michael Ashton nobody ever had a agent 00 nickname again maybe he took it to far with his license to kill w the gun in locker room
@@rougeone744 Ehh cant compare a stupid life decision to talent in basketball. It might of hurt his career with the nba but just like michael Vick or oj Simpson. Still great athletes. Even if they aren't great people. But Arenas didnt do something to the magnitude of vick or OJ so is it really that bad?
Michael Ashton man you’re to serious Im just joking around. If anything iverson probably took more of a hit on his rep for beating up that kid right? I’m under 30 but from what I understand about arenas everyone knew he was joking.
@@rougeone744 oh lol. Well bro he never even beat up anybody. They falsely accused him on some racist shit back then. I saw the surveillance footage in a A.I documentary. Bro he had a scholarship offer from everyone in the world and that bs happened and nobody in the world would take him. Except Georgetown.
I don’t think people understand. Iverson was such a big star. His sneakers out sold Jordan’s for 5 years straight. An he’ll drop40 points easy every game
BIG FACTS
Didn't know about the shoes
he was quick and was in attack mode
I bought 5 pairs of AI's in just 2 years...and balled in all of them.
THE he got traded to that nuggets team. That was more than enough
Golbert Arenas: (Without a heartbeat) "Allen Iverson"
Chauncey Billups: "The player I feared the most was AI"
Kobe: AI pushed me to another level, he made me a defensive player, we're all lucky he's not 6'5
Shaq: I'd choose AI as my PG in my starting 5 all time
Isiah Thomas
We would beat you every game😁
& Paul Peirce said,,I was scared to death.
Charles barkley..my number one pick allen iverson!
For someone who fell in love with the game as a kid in the mid-late 90's growing up in the DMV area... this is GOLD.
Great content!
DMV had sum killas A.I. mike vick randy moss💪🏾🔥
@Belarion A.D. I feel you, even though I be seeing AI at MGM in Maryland ALL THE TIME. Can't deny that we all connected. We still got KD, Ty Law, Oladipo, Elgin Baylor, Adrien Dantley just to name a few.
@Belarion A.D. he and boys like to gamble lol. They also bought a house in PG
Im from Va 757 right where ai and vick from i was jus being nice but u right🤧
I grew up in Richmond, VA and the Iverson influence was heavy, heavy, heavy in street games
What frustrated most NBA players was that 95% of them were bigger in stature and 0% had his heart!!!✌
DAMN!!!! FINALLY A CREDIBLE SOURCE GAVE A.I. HIS PROPS. A.I. CHANGED THE GAME FOREVER.
Serious, so many journalists like "Let me tell you why he's the best player ever..."....I'm like, "What?, man who the fuck are you again?"
Kobe gave that man props many times over the years too
Rodman tries to take credit for guys getting tattoos in the NBA but it was AI. same for jewellery, baggy clothes. And he made the headband and elbow sleeve fashionable.
@@Xtremeproducts MY BROTHER ON POINT LIKE A SNIPER. A.I. SIMPLY PUT WAS A GAME CHANGER. EVEN KOBE SAID THAT HE HAD TO RESEARCH DEADLY SHARKS IN ORDER TO CONTEND WITH THIS MAN. NUFF SAID!!!!!!
@@harleminthebuildn9234 he even made cornrows cool in the NBA. They need to remember also that it was because of AI why the came up with the dress rule on what you can wear while on the bench
I’ll never forget when I saw AI play live. He went after a loose ball and I’ve never seen anybody run that damn fast.
Dang you’re lucky to have been able to see him
I’ll never forget the game when AI was giving Jason Williams that work against Sacramento to the point j will got benched. Then at one point Doug Collins who was commentating the game said j will need to forget all the x and o’s this is about your pride at this point you can’t let someone score on you every time down the floor lol
Lol. I remember that game !!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Mamba gon drop 50... but AI gon drop u, and if he’s in the mood. He’s not gon let u put the ball down
Rs ai could clamp
basically ai was too fast and hard to stay with, kobe you could keep up with him but he's still getting his points
khalil williams basically 🤷🏽♂️
Shawn Kemp my g ... ai for a few years straight never really practiced at all and managed to keep up wit kobe in the league .... kobe stepped his game up but he wasnt soning ai not at all.
@Shawn Kemp After that game 1 in the finals which was A.I MVP year Kobe said he was watching footage of Sharks A.I was a predator that didn't sleep was non stop
AI has a crazy motor. That seems to be the most underrated aspect of his game. That’s why he was able to carry his team to the finals on his back. And S/O to Gil. Man was the truth fr
*And that’s why A.I is my favorite player of all time he never gave up he always gave 110% every time he stepped on the court he wasn’t going to give you a break he was gonna come at you every second he could he was so small in a rough league making unforgettable plays and games and he carried his team for so long with no help and got the the finals with them leading his team as a 5”11 PG/SG he just gave it his all every night more than anyone else players had to be prepared for him because he had to be great at everything on the court because of how small he’s work ethic ways unimaginable and unmatchable he was unstoppable on the court when he was hot you could never give him a rest for one second or else you getting 50 dropped of you he never stopped hustling out there for every loose ball and even bucket he could get* LEGEND 🏀💙🙌🏽😈💫
##FACTS THEESE ARE THE REASONS HE IS MY FAV PLAYER OF ALL TIME
I just like erthing bout A.I. Period. His whole get down. He's a survivor and a no-nonsense type of dude who still cool and he was the same on the court as he is off the court. Just real.
except in practice....
I can imagine how much more frustrating to have to deal with AI all game vs Kobe. Like you can admit defeat with Kobe when he hits his Jordan-esque pivot fade away but with AI, you look like you’re getting beat with hustle and mind games all game because he’ll out hustle you every play, cross you up, get to the hoop and get by you no matter how you defend him.
russell westbrook is ai on roids.. only difference is russ shoots bricks LOL
@@hibida651 yeah AI had a much better mid range game...
Right I feel like with Kobe, so long as you accepted that no matter how well you played D hed score, you could do ok. AI would you have fatigued as hell and might cross you up
Westbrook have some heart but he lacks basketball IQ which separate him and AI
We talking about practice ? Not the game , but practice ? C'mon..lol. Westbrook is very talented but AI is is far superior taking mediocre sixers to the finals
I use to go to all the sixers game as a kid. Allen iverson was really a blur on the court. Fast as shit doesn't even serve any justice lol. But I never knew he took it personal when other players wore number 3. Thats some real shit 💯
Quick story....
My hs team played against AI. The summer before my eighth grade year. Chuck was going into his junior year. We played Bethel in a summer league game. Had no clue who he was at the time (my school was in Norfolk, Bethel was across the water in Hampton).
I had never seen a NBA-level talent up close and personal...until that day in summer league. It was like watching Sonic The Hedgehog in person. He was literally the fastest human being I have ever seen on a basketball court. He was sooooo fuckin fast and quick. And could jump out the gym. Swear he had springs for legs. He was doing tomahawk jams off a standing vert....shit was madness. Dude had at least 40 that day...barely even broke a sweat. All kinds of putback dunks and making defenders look silly as he flew past them. I saw him play three games that summer and no one could guard him. Hell they tried to trap him all game and two ppl couldn't guard him. Made a mockery of us and all the other summer league teams. I was actually relieved I was on the JV team at the time so I didn't play. I watched from behind our bench....glad I wasn't a part of the human highlight reel that was Bubba Chuck. That's when I put my NBA hopes to bed lol. To see a athlete like him in person, and you consider yourself an athlete, is demoralizing. Crushed my little middle school dreams 🤣
@@Cevensities sounds about right 😂😂
@@Cevensities he is pound for pound the best player ever. You can take nba players listed heights for a grain of salt because Iverson in my opinion wasn't even 6"0. And prob didnt weigh 180. And dominated in the caliber you said. He was a revolutionary for the game style wise and the pace of play. Just amazing. AND they said he was just as good at football lol! Your league might as well played Kobe or Jordan lol.
@X Man I've seen Allen in person he's 5'10 tops
@X Man yea I met Iverson when I was 6'0 on the dot. ( I'm 6'3 now) it was a difference.
There are great story tellers in the NBA that it is awesome to hear them speak with no filters. Kevin Garnett is another one....
"Don't let the other guy be wearing #3" 🤣🤣 AI was a cold piece
Kobe played through the triangle. Kobe actually made it work to play in the triangle combined with his creative scoring ability and arsenal of moves more than people give him credit for.
but was secretly getting information from jordan about the triangle offense... don't forget that.
A.I. iz the greatest player to never get a Ring
Malone?
barkley
Yeah,I3 and Sir Charles
Tmac
Nah, that title belonged to grant hill before anybody else
Gilbert: allen is a literal alien from outer space like for real
Interviewer: .....👁👁......YaeAh
Now that you pointed it out that shit annoying af...yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah all interview
I noticed that too🤣🤣
I doubt this comes as a surprise to anyone who watched basketball back then.
Facts anybody from our generation knows this and AI was better than Kobe. I was a huge Kobe fan but as I grew older n when AI left n even tho Kobe was still around, when AI completely retired I started to look at his career bro dude was at least a notch or two better than Kobe, give AI them Laker teams with Shaq, he’d have 5 chips at least as well. No disrespect to the late great RIP but AI is my goat 🐐
Iverson was just as good he was definitely better early in they’re career. Kobe just stayed in his prime longer then Iverson, MCGRADY, and Carter.
"He was that white boy."
We all know that one white dude that purposely plays ball in the hood and be running the court especially with a jump shot...you know I ain't lying!
Tristan Jazz
Yup.
We got a White dude here in Philly.
Always at the hood courts...holding court, dominating...we love him, doe
Jimmer used to play at a prison
Facts!!!
😂😂. You can’t leave they ass open either, or they torching yo ass.
They better put some respect allen iverson name. Him and Kobe are my two favorite players and everything he said about Allen was correct. That's why he is so respected. 💯
Bruh, did not hesitate for a millisecond! Respect
That football player in A.I. made him play so hard, every football player that I played basketball with played like they were still playing football lol 😂😂😂
Yea and he's telling the truth with A.I. because his stamina is what he's got alot of his points whether he's stealing the ball or off a fast break play and with his handles made him a nightmare to play against and also fascinating to watch lol
In the open court A.I was a jackrabbit with or without the ball
I never heard a single player who talk bs about Iverson that's why I even like him more he changed the entire league💪
Kobe said it himself, blessed that Iverson wasn’t taller than 6 foot
Great interview...
Makes me sad how the media did Iverson.... portrayed him as selfish and “lazy” for not practicing, when in reality he was one of the hardest workers and best team mates you could ever have. In this era of load management and no hand checking he’d be averaging 40 a night.
AI is that guy. Dont ever disrespect this man...a true killa
“We talm about practice” AI had that unrehearsed game, he played like it was another day at the park.
Exactly
AI would be in the club popping bottles into the wee mornings and then drop 40 on you that same night while playing 40 minutes. Only 4 TRUE killers that I have ever seen in my life....Kobe, Jordan, Bird and AI. Them niggas were sociopaths. Nobody is like that in this game.
EXACTLY... When AI says he was a Killer he means it. He was going to f**k you up and he had 1 mission get the ball in the hoop with some form of streetball attached to it. I'm 37 and can still remember watching them crossovers in slow-mo on VHS. I made so many folks fall thanks to them AI study sessions. AI was going to embarrass you and then act like you weren't even there. Like it was nothing to him at all. A true hitman.
What is talm?
@@JB-qe2ve slang for “talking”
AI is very under rated. It was so exciting watching him play.
I love this Gilbert interviews ...the best
I used to see Pippen at the airport in Little Rock, we asked him who is really like that in the league, his answer was The Answer
This man did not hesitate to say a.i lol
Makes sense. Kobe had a more direct cutthroat style as where AI could snap your angles in 2, drop an easy jumper in and step over you you so you can hear about decades after it happened
I always enjoyed watching these two match up because it was such a contrast of styles.
Lol good stuff man love hearing these stories from agent 0
I love the ending, he took #3 personal 😂😂😂😂
Kobe would probably agree. He had a lot of respect for AI's game.
Gilbert is a great story teller. Great video
Gilbert is so thorough wit his explanations... Hell yah... Shout out to mamba rip
Don’t have on number 3, he took it personal - that’s the best thing I’ve heard of A.I
lol when your team wins but the guy guarding A.I. had to sacrifice himself
he died so we could live, this man is a hero
carrying him off like Paul pierce in the play-offs
These my fav 2 point gaurds and the fact one has that respect for my all time fav is cra
I would like to see Gilbert as a coach. Especially in Euroleague, where coach does matter
Iverson + kobe + shaq would be one of the most deadly trios you could ever put together
What makes you think Iverson and Kobe in the same backcourt would work? They both take 23-27 shots a game. Kobe + Kevin Garnett would be the best combo possible in the early 2000's. That actually has chemistry.
@E BO Completely agree bro. Well said.
Love agent zero old school 2000s stories 💯
I just guessing his reasoning Before I watch...
Kobe is going to beat you
AI is going to beat you but he’s gonna make you look stupid
Gilbert played A.I. a lot more in the east.
And Kobe doesn’t? Lol
Mike T. Hahaha yeah
Kriss Kross T when you think of Kobe you don’t think of him breaking ankles.... when I think of Kobe I think of hand all in his face and he still drains the shot....
When I think of AI I think of niggas slippin and slidin across the court and then gettin scored on .... those are my FIRST thoughts that come to mind
Jordinho Charles Have you not watched Kobe play? He could shut you down defensively, put you on a post or give you a easy 40 piece. All are equally embarrassing. Im not understanding you like are you just comparing highlights?
The closest thing to AI being 6’5 is Kobe in 2006. That would be AI all the time if he were that tall. A straight Scoring MACHINE.
I was getting tired just looking at the pictures of Iverson. 😂
Lmfao
I could listen Gilbert talk basketball literally all day . Not to mention I love the fact that he consistently gives Allen Iverson his respect and goes into details why ?! Not too many former players are doing that . Especially for Allen Iverson . Aleast not on camera
Good shit!
AI was the man in remember being 9-10 back in like 03-04 i think and everybody wanted to be like him even the way i played it was like him. mixing a little bit of kobe, jordan and iverson i was unstoppable on the rec league court 😂😂😂
What's also impressive about Iverson, was his playmaking abilities. He can burn you for 30+ while getting 7+ assists consistently. With Kobe, you dont really have to worry about his playmaking. Kobe was a shoot first, shoot second, then maybe pass type of guy in his prime.
This was freaking amazing to put us in THAT world!
@ 2:20 my guy said it's like a non stop coming, ayyyooo
“Don’t have on no.3,if you had #3 on then he took it personal.”
Well that explains the Wade & CP3 battles
That taking it personal if some was wearing number 3 I didn’t even know.
That ending was perfecto!
This makes me smile ! I just to love A.i
A.I. 4eva!!!...R.I.P The Great K.B. 8-24
We all have that “white” boy that Agent Zero mentioned at the beginning of the video in our gym 🤣🤣
When Kobe said Allen Iverson was the hardest person he'd ever had to guard. And that he took his defense to the next level just to keep up with him that's the biggest praise ever.
A.I was a monster. A.I and KG just had that energy about them
Agent Zero! Damn if he don’t tear his knee up that 2nd time Lebron doesn’t beat us in the playoffs. Wizards had a real chance to go to finals 05-09. Needed one more piece. Had a better roster than Cleveland almost every year but no one to stop Lebron. The year Gil chokes the free throws I think we had a great chance for Finals. Boston Celtics big 3 wasn’t until 08 . Heat and Pistons only ppl to worry about.
Yeah, but the refs helped Lebron way too much when they played us back then. lol...dude was traveling more than Southwest Airlines and wasn't getting called.
WizManBallin Man all Bron did was travel. Damn game winning shot he traveled
@Sherron Davis The Wizards did have a chance. The game of basketball is all about match ups. Those years we did very good against teams in the East. Washington stood as much a chance as Cleveland did...but the league was trying to get Lebron there by any means necessary. Stop showing your Lebronship.
@@tajmoultrie3045 Gil is no joke. I remember that killing spree he was on...he pulled a Kobe and was dropping numbers on just about every team he played against.
brick money I was at that game. He def traveled lol
in today's league id guarantee that AI would be way more efficient... manz was in an era where the mid jumper was the go-to shot and there was no spacing meaning this 5'10-5'11 160lbs guy had to shoot contested shots and contact layups damn near every time. Today's spacing would honestly make a lot of players from past era better
Gilbert without a doubt vocalized how it is to defend Allen Iverson to a tee and this is very refreshing for regular fans or even young fans who never saw AI play. He's so spot on about AI being a whirling dervish. Kobe worked through progressions and go without the ball just to get his buckets. But imagine AI had that hustle player energy on Red Bull and he would just keep COMING at you and your big guys inside at the rim with ZERO fear and he would keep attacking the hoop the way he did at this full intensity for 38-42 minutes. All while he getting points off transition due to him ball hawking or going full court by himself . If he dropped 40 plus that night you had to match that with his raw energy or fall flat.
No chill gill said that quick A.I was really a problem in his prom day's
if a.i put in the work like kobe... he would be in the goat discussion.
If A.l was 6in taller. He be in the GOAT debate..
2 inch
If you’re listening to Gilbert...he is the Goat
So basically he didn’t want to chase AI around all game 😂
No Chill Podcast underrated af
🔥🔥interview
It's because AI has the best dribbling and crossover skills ever seen anywhere. The NBA had to band some of his crossovers. History lesson.
Banned for carrying the ball.
@@victorortiz6272 good point. Had to ban from carrying. Im a A.I. to death but is crossovers tethered in between carrying and actually legal dribbling
Seems like AI took it personal for 48 mins every game. If you also wore #3 that’s classic 🤣🤣
Now i gotta go back and watch IA clips.
“...It’s just a Non-stop coming!!!” -no cool Gil, 2020
Even the Great Kobe said Allen I was a nightmare to guard. I am sure My felt the same way. He was he Great Tiny Archibald on steroids.
Iverson was a lot like Westbrook, 1000 MPH and constantly applying pressure to the defense.
no, AI was like AI period. Little SHAQ!!!
Westbrook is AI without a jumper and ball handles. AI also dragged a garbage Phili team to the champ series. Westbrook will NEVER be that guy
@j Smith what are you talking about lol
AI was a more graceful finisher at the rim. Almost MJ esque with how he could twist his body at times to get a bucket in. Its insane because you gotta contend with that energy of his the entire game and he can come at the rim with tough ass shots that he can will to go in.
This is awesome, I wish he was bein interviewed by someone else, someone who says more then, yeh
He had me laughing at dont have no number 3 Lol
Iverson mostly brought the ball up the floor and he moved without the ball a lot more than Kobe did. Prime Kobe would drop more points but AI made you work for 48 minutes.
Even though I don’t agree with Agent 0, Kobe did say a few years back “Were lucky that AI wasn’t 6’5”.
You know you left your mark on the game when EVERY great that ever had to guard you said basically the same thing.
A.I. and D-Wade the two most fearless guards to ever play the game!
The two who would *CHALLENGE* the trees over and over and over again!
They'd get beat up, knocked to the floor, injured and still KEEP COMIN!
Didn't care if Shaq was down there or Zoe, or Mahorn or Ben Wallace or even his boy Ewing!
They're still bringin their games down there, "NO FEAR"!
And they couldn't just walk in for layups like they do now.
You earned your buckets in the paint because it was so physical.
A.I. got his respect as a scorer, but he got more respect because of his Courage and Will to defy the odds because of his size.
Allen Iverson had *Heart*! The Heart of a Lion and a Love for the game of basketball and felt the same way about the game itself that Magic, Bird, MJ and Kobe felt about it.....
He was a True Warrior of the game, dispite his height and weight...
You would have thought he was 6'-5" when you considered the Desire and Will he had to Win..... 👊✔💯.
"THE *ANSWER* HAD THE HEART OF A CHAMPION"! 🏆.
ai and harden are going to go down in history w similar vibes respect to them
Nah harden travels everytime
Jerem Rosario lmfao and you clearly dont play or watch basketball properly 🙄
@@iloveweedle9193 and u clearly blind🤣🤣

Iloveweedie..james is similar because he puts up alot of shots and natural scorer give u that..but a.i. was relentless at going to the basket at 6 160!.. james is crafty at picking up fouls..a.i. just came strait at you all game long non stop and played big boy ball in the paint finishing in the lane as the littlest guy on the court over and over again 82 games a year..james is great..but not a.i. closest to a.i. is russ..but russ ain't as talented or a natural scorer
Wish Kobe was here to see his reaction
Kobe is back...just as an invisible angel ghost though #The6thman
Kobe would agree fuck u mean ? AI was better than Kobe n although Kobe would never admit any player was better than him, he did admit it in retrospect. One he said AI made him a better defender, 2 he said we all lucky AI wasn’t 6’5. Now think n a game like basketball where height is a major factor how can someone smaller than u make u better ? Obviously they’d have to be a better player than u m since their smaller they’d have to be MUCH BETTER than u.
The 3rd dude just said “So….” The entire episode😂 cutout😂
Love the Jason Terry jersey
I’d rather guard Gilbert Arenas that Allen or Kobe
Lol
I've always said that in the post-Jordan era, Allen Iverson is the best player that I've ever seen, period. He was not perfect but individually, he was the best. Better than Kobe, better than Duncan, better than T.Mac, better than Garnett, better than Carter...
Nobody impressed me more since Michael Jordan retired...
If you aint Joran you aint better than Kobe.
