Great video, sir. You make it very easy to understand when and how to swap out a clutch drum. One trick I've seen for stopping the piston is to feed in a length of paracord through the spark plug hole while the piston is in the lower position (leave a bit of cord sticking out of the hole to grab later). When the piston tries to come back up, the wad of cord stops it from making it all the way. When you are done, you just pull the cord back out. Another trick I've seen for removing the clutch itself is to use a punch and a hammer to tap on the 'arms' in the clutch to break it loose. The tricks will allow you to make the repair without specialty tools.
These are GREAT tips! I've used the rope trick before and it definitely works. As for the punch and hammer, I have used that trick but nearly lost the clutch pieces when the drum flew off and the clutch went flying. Probably had more to do with my inexperience at the time.
Good video. The clutch is attached to the crankshaft not a driveshaft. And a piece of rope can be substituted for a piston stop and is less likely to damage the piston. You should start by blowing all the access debris with compressed air first when cleaning to save time. That original spur sprocket on that clutch was extremely worn, is the chain the correct pitch for that sprocket.
Good tips. I personally don’t like using rope, but it’s a good trick. Chain was correct. Works great since replacing the sprocket. Maybe just chalk it up to abuse from previous owner.
GREAT VIDEO. I HAVE 3 OF THE EXACT CHAINSAWS. I'VE CHANGED MY DRUM AND CLUTCH. MY PROBLEM NOW IS THAT MY BAR STUD BROKE ON ONE OF MY SAWS. DO YOU OFFER ANY ADVICE ON REPLACING THE BAR STUD. I CANNOT FIND A VIDEO FOR THIS EXACT SAW. IS IT SCREW IN OR DO YOU HAVE TO TAP IT OUT. FIND MANY VIDEO'S ON OTHER SAWS BUT NOT THIS ONE. THANKS FOR ANY HELP
They may be able to, but I haven't put enough torque on the clutch to do any damage yet. I agree that the rope is way easier if you don't have the stop.

Plus it could trash your chain as well as being a potential safety issue.
Great video!
Great point. Thanks for watching!
You are a good teacher. Nice video skills too.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video.

Hi, please help. I have Poulan 2800, do you know what Husqvarna model have same clutch drum as a Poulan 2800?
Thanks
Great Video Sir!!
Piston stops are a bad idea.they can damage the piston! Best to run some 1/4 inch nylon rope down the cylinder
They may be able to, but I haven't put enough torque on the clutch to do any damage yet. I agree that the rope is way easier if you don't have the stop.
Should lift up bar and tighten nuts
Lift up on the tip of your bar when tensioning your chain
Nice video by the way
Good tip. What does lifting the bar while tensioning do?
