Ironically, I just replaced that spring today on the passenger door actuator on my 1985 300CD. As you know, the vacuum unit is different on the coupes! PS I attach the plastic to the door card itself;therefore, I do not have to pull off the plastic each time I work inside the door!
These are the little things that just drive you crazy. Thanks for the simple fix!!

In a wet and high moisture environment like the Pacific Northwest, it is better to attach the plastic to the door to totally seal it

Why you don’t make those springs and sell them? It’s just metric spring steel which is probably yellow zinc plated.
