- I make an Industrial Furniture style cabinet, using Reclaimed Wood and Steel angle iron, and Rivets. The build involved woodworking Metalworking and Welding.
I used the wood from hardwood pallets for the lining of this wall cabinet, it was a really fun project for me and this tool cupboard will be bolted to the wall in my workshop and used as tool storage near my workbench. The two saw blades are from many years ago when I used to cut firewood with my father so it's good to have them and the memories in the workshop watching over me. After seeing the finished cabinet I think there will be more projects like this to come.
I love almost all rustic industrial furniture the wood and steel design has an aged look that I think looks great.

Always use all the correct safety gear, and use your tools safely, I am not a good role model for this.
Hope you found something of use in my video or at least found it entertaining.

Excellent..
Thank you very much, I am happy that you liked it.
It would make a beautiful outdoor TV cabinet
Thank you.
Great case for making sure your toys won't be messed with.
This would make a great cupboard for a hifi setup. The only thing I would change would be to construct it by bolting the angle irons together rather than welding them so that it can be dismantled, if needed, for easier transport.
Yes, that's the plan to keep other fingers off my tools. To make it easy to pull apart, would be a good idea if you could not move it as one unit. Thank you for your comment.
The new tool box so cool I like
Thank you, I am glad you like it. Thank you for your video.
This one heavy cabinet

Screw drivers and pliers maybe but air impact hammer might escape. You better beef it up a little. 😁 Just kidding. Look'n good. Damn good.

Beautiful. These are 2x2 angle iron ?
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it. Yes they are 2x2 angle iron
Hi mate, nice build. Would like more pics and details of how the wood is held on please
At this point in the link you can see me putting flat-bar running down both sides at the back of the doors (the wood boards were cut and put inside the door frame from the front and were screwed from the back of the door through holes in the flat bars, so you can't see the screw heads from the front) ua-cam.com/video/PYKxMC-awwg/v-deo.html the wood running vertical inside back of the unit were screwed through holes at the back of the unit in the angle iron. The short side bits are held in place at the back by the edge boards on the rear of the unit pushing on them keeping them in place, and the front edge of the same boards are held by a small strip of wood (you can't see it) fixed in place inside the angle at the front. If the sides were wider/deeper I would have welded a small strip of flat-bar down that front edge to hold the side wood, but as this unit is small the side boards are only about 10 inches long it does not need a lot, as it can't really move far. (don't just glue the wood to the steel each expands and contracts differently and in the long run you will have problems) Hope that helps a bit.
@@GavinClarkdiy sure does thank you
@@springfieldjohny Great, Thank you.
Excellent job. I liked the adaptation of the flap sandpaper to the grinding wheel ( 11:00 ) ...is this original??
Thank you very much. The grinder just had a grinding wheel, I just put the flap sanding disc on under the nut. If you are going to do this, the discs are made to only rotate in one direction, so it can only be done one one side of the grinder. Mine sits very flat against the wheel, if you cant get it to be safe it is better not to do it.
Great project and really good technique but as you said yourself not a very good role model when it comes to safety. When I saw you shaving those 2x4 with the saw I was cringing every time your hand got close to the blade. You should use at least a thin piece of wood to push through the blade. Still thanks for a great video.
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it. Yes, I have many bad habits after many years experience of doing these things, Your job is to do it safely and not copy someone who has become very comfortable around his machinery, I do have a push stick hanging at the front of the saw, that I use on thinner/twisted or bits with knots that may bind when cut. Thank you for your comment, I will try to do things more safely in the future. Keep safe.
Good job Gav, jeez it looks pretty heavy though, how much do you reckon the finished product weighed?
Thank you very much, I do not know, it is much easier to have two people lifting it than trying to do it myself, but once it is on the wall weight does not play a part. Thank you for your comment.
SH!T HOT
Thank you very much.
what is the width of the steel?
Hi, it is 50mm / 2 inch angle iron.
