- //Support me on Patreon//: / jonnybuilds Check out how to build this DIY Modern Industrial Media Console/TV Stand using steel and reclaimed cargo flooring wood that I shou sugi ban torched. I also made a simple steel bending jig. This industrial media console involves several different processes including welding, woodworking, steel bending, CNC, and Shou Sugi Ban. I bent 1/4” steel rod into a tree pattern that fits within the doors, and I tried out the console with expanded steel mesh. There will be a full detailed build plan available for this diy industrial media console/tv stand about a week after upload. Sorry its no ready sooner, but I had a few speed bumps getting the plans put together, and I want them to be perfect. Thanks for checking out this DIY Modern Industrial “Tree” Media Console/TV Stand using reclaimed wood that with shou sugi ban.

Excellent project, Jonny. I love the metal work and when you used the Shou-sugi-ban method on the wood you sealed the deal for me.

The tree on the front of this thing is just plain awesome! I’ve never seen anything like it before. I really like the industrial style of this piece. Great job!
Thanks, Bruce! I've had this idea in my head for a while now, and I'm really happy with how it came out.

Thank you!
My mother would hate it but I would love it!
Happy Hanukkah!!! Shalom shalom!!!
Darn it. I had a mouth full of coffee when you said your first line. Laughed so hard I scared the dog. 😂 Not cool when your dog is 140 pd Great Dane thinking somethings wrong. This project turned out sooo beautiful!
Haha, sorry about that! Thanks for watching!
Great.
Turned out great, metal is a much more forgiving (aka fun) material to work with IMO
I’m getting addicted to metal fab! Thanks again brother! Couldn’t have pulled this off without you.
So are you open to teaching any local UA-camr lol? If so I just need to finally start dropping videos haha.
@@RCW-Designs I've been happy to have viewers in the shop to learn, stick around too long and you'll get put to work though ua-cam.com/video/a922Inx0iOg/v-deo.html
Pretty awesome bud!
Thanks, and I apologize for my misuse of your dovetail jig...
hahaha it's not stupid if it works!
Exelente 👍👍👍👍
Wicked kool it would look good with a light in the middle section too but very kool
That would look cool!
Awesome build! I think you make great videos. Good instructions. Im 50 yrs. old and I am learning woodworking. I am a self taught welder too. If it's ok, I would love to build this design.
Thanks for the sub, dude! I loved this video. Makes me daydream about a future life where I learn some cool skills and have a garage full of cool toys.
Thanks brother! It addictive. There was a time I was an endurance athlete myself, but this has taken over my life, haha. Your channel is great btw.
Bro, this has got it all! Awesome work through the entire process
Thanks man, and I dig the new channel name!
@@JonnyBuilds Yeah, changing things up a bit like I noticed your channel did as well. Plus my last name is too difficult for people to remember! Keeping things easy
That is an absolutely awesome video and build, great job...sub too...
Stunning piece of functional art work , Love it!
Ps. Good move to put it on wheels, I bet its heavy, lol. 😉
Its sooooo heavy! Thanks.
You're welcome
Very nice Project!!! Amazing, Can you publish the Measurement Plan

Beautiful. How did you finish it? Lacquer? I want to build a drinks bar. I’m thinking of doing the muriatic acid trick to rust it and then varnishing or applying lacquer.
Hey bud next you should use ecolin fluid so your blade doesn't wear out as fast.
Wow.....
Nice work Jonny, this is my fav thing you've built as well.... Welcome to the dark side! :)
Haha, thanks brother! Does the dark side mean you just want to weld and metalwork all the time? Because I'm there.

That's a great piece, so many skills and lovely details in it. I also love how many references to other content creators you managed to slip in. I'm curious, is wood movement something you need to consider with wood this old?
I doubt it will move much, but I always take it into account. There is space within the frame for the wood to expand about 1/8". Thanks for watching!
Nice work. What kind of top coat do you use for it ?
Absolutely gorgeous!
Curious how long did it take you to design this piece?
Thank you. The tree idea was in my head for a few months. The actually design of this console took a day.
The mesh he used is called 3/4 X 9 Expanded metal Standard!
just curious how heavy it is. I love it, looks great.
I’m pretty sure it’s somewhere around 9000 lbs...
hahaha,
@@JonnyBuilds
This is some really nice work; enjoyed every step.
However, how would one route wiring for the media devices? I didn't see any cutouts you would find in a typical TV stand/media console.
The entire rear apron was left open for that purpose.
Are you talking about the gap in the rear center, shown at the top here? ua-cam.com/video/9-v_YpHN5NI/v-deo.html
I can see where that might work, but I must say, forcing the 4-6' cables up from the bottom of a side shelf and around to exit the rear apron is going to give you very little to work with once they get back there. Most electronic wiring comes out of the bottom of the electronic devices; you can forget trying to hide them with the see-through front.
Alright, I'm off my devils' advocate soap box. At the end of the day, it's still some quality work - both the stand and the editing!
I feel like if someone has the ability to build this console they could also figure out where they might need to drill some holes for cables. I built this for my friends and they didn’t need any additional cable management.
How did you finish the steel to keep it from rusting?
Dude.... I don't even know what to say. Blown away man. UA-cam needs the ability to add a GIF here. I need the one of someone bowing down. Awesome project man. Is this your personal one now, or did you build this to sell?
Thanks brother! I built it for some friends.
Jonny Builds I'm sure they were blown away like I was. Great job man.
👍👍👍
As bubbles from trailer park boys would say
“DECENT”
was that a powertap you step-drilled
hi, what is it painted with?
What’s the brand of the handsaw that you used at the 6:00 min mark?
Dewalt.
How do a buy this?
How do I make a coping toolbox
How many TV sets do you plan to stack on it to fully utilize the strength of the structure?
Just one 13”.
Can you give me the dimensions of your welded Modern Industrial TV stand
🌹👍🏻
Forgot to add the build plans?
That thing must weigh over 200 pounds good lord
Nope. 199.9 lbs exactly!
What was the Final Weight of this Console?
1 million lbs or somewhere around that. It’s really heavy but two people can lift it in and out of a truck without the shelves and table top in place.
Can u say over kill! Just bout support a car! Use 1/4 the size, more than heavy enough!
fat like ))
Почему описание на русском?
Couldn't you build this a little thinner? Seriously that must be so heavy to lift?
It's ok to cuss on the interwebz bro...
Damn...good to know!
