Actually, I was thinking about buying the ASUS Zenfone 5Z. do you think you can give us a rundown on that device? also, could you give ASUS a poke about the "hiding the notch" and give us more options; such as curving it to match the chin and/or glass in glass or a see through effect on it, a little like the LG G7/G7+ has.
Bought one a week ago for 220€ in moonlight white. Realized that it was hard to find anything more recent that perfoms that well and has the same build quality. Asus seems to continue to keep rolling out updates for quite a while too. Can't say that about all brands...

I was using the iPhone X as my main device, but I did in fact switch to this as my main phone...and I have been so impressed. It's not as fast or as powerful as the iPhone X, but you can buy 3 ZenFone 5 handsets for the price of one iPhone X. It's fast enough for me and works very well. I am honestly really happy with it. I post updates on Twitter and Instagram about the phone as well, including camera samples. Not sure if you use either of them but if you do, just search for lifeoftechuk. Definitely the phone may not be as powerful as any other flagship devices with premium prices but sure this phone isn’t a lousy one. Thank you...appreciate the comment! I had the T5i for a few years and upgraded to the G7 last year. Autofocus isn’t very good sadly, but I manually focus everything anyway. Great camera though and I’m sure you will love it 😁👍🏻

Great job Roger! Did you feel the camera on Auto was kind of over saturated, the video clips look like it a bit, curious on your take! The stereo speakers are doooope! I wish all phones had them. One single firing speaker just isn't enough anymore. Overall it is a very great looking phone.

Great review! I've got myself a ZenFone 5 recently to use along my exynos S7 Edge. It's a great beatifuL phone this little gem for the price point especially. But still the camera and battery life can't hold up to S7 Edge ones and maybe I was expecting that. Anyways I really recommend it.

Life of Tech Agreed. BTW I recommend installing the Google Pixel's modded camera from XDA (GCMod5) as it improves drastically the quality of some photos and adds an amazing portrait mode too. Wish you all the success for your channel and keep up doing a great work!
camera works fine. but the asus cam app suffers from over exposure problem on very sunny days. i did a comparison with a s9 plus. s9 plus night shots are better though when zoomed in. but my friend who owns the s9 plus, after looking at the photo info said that the difference will definitely be a lot less if both phones were on tripod. he said thay my shutter was open a lot longer than his s9 plus in night shots.

Hey Alex...it's still a great handset for sure! I'll be honest...the front facing camera is ok. Not amazing but good enough for most people. Sure there are some awesome handsets that have been released since the Zenfone 5...but you can pick this up at a seriously good price now. Still a great handset! Thanks for watching the video 👍🏻
This at $430 vs LG G6 at $411. G6 specs: 64/4 GB, dual hybrid sims, 1440p 18:9 no notch, wide-angle cams front and back, Quad-DAC, IP68, SD 821 Adreno 530. Basically, this years premium midranger vs last years flagship. Which one would you buy?
Valid points Vivek. Sadly I've had massive problems with some LG products in the past, so that puts me off a bit. Good specs though 👍🏻 I also want to look at the Motorola G6 and Honor 10 😎
Thanks for replying. Moto G6 was a big disappointment, don't know what Lenovo is thinking using old soc's and creating so many versions of a phone, which then become harder to update. Between Zenfone5 and Honor 10, to me, Zenfone 5 has more unique and useful features, and a cleaner UI. But I like my music, and that QuadDAC is really pulling me. Nice and clean video by the way. Oh yes, I totally get where you are coming from on the audio. I guess the deciding factor for a lot of people will be a single feature such as audio, or camera quality etc. Really appreciate the kind words, thank you! 👍🏻😊

Great video!! I have been using Lenovo Vibe P1m for more than two years now and sometimes it just does not work properly anymore, so I have been thinking about a new phone. My friend bought an iPhone 6s recently and she is satisfied with it and for a while, I have been thinking about it as well. But I have never used an iPhone before, plus I'm not sure if it is a good idea to buy it now. I've thought that it would probably be better idea to buy some new android phone for maybe less money than older version of iPhone. So, I have really been thinking abou this one :) would you say that it'd be a good idea to buy iPhone 6s or Asus zenfone 5 ? or my other option is Honor 9 Lite
Thanks for watching the video, and thanks for the question! I was using the iPhone X as my main device...and I have now 100% switched to the ZenFone 5. The camera is good enough for me to take daily snaps and 4K video, and all of the other features such as the stereo speakers etc make it so enjoyable to use. Being an Android handset, I can no longer send iMessages or make FaceTime calls...but most of the people I know use WhatsApp anyway now for messages and video calls. I say...go for the ZenFone 5. For the money I think it's absolutely fantastic!! 😀
Hmmm tricky one. Personally I prefer the ZenFone...but if you are used to Samsung handsets, it may be better to stick with the A8. I really like the ZenUI and also the quality of the images from the camera too. But the A8 also has a decent camera - ha ha ha. I don't have the A8 with me to compare it to either...so that is a tricky question 😀
I value a good camera,is it any good compared to its competition, $430 is a dear price, a little more would take it to one plus territory,how does the camera compare to op6? Nice video by the way.

Rock solid Asus..that’s why I switched from Samsung to Asus in 2014

Hey Alex...it's still a great handset for sure! I'll be honest...the front facing camera is ok. Not amazing but good enough for most people.
Sure there are some awesome handsets that have been released since the Zenfone 5...but you can pick this up at a seriously good price now. Still a great handset!

This at $430 vs LG G6 at $411. G6 specs: 64/4 GB, dual hybrid sims, 1440p 18:9 no notch, wide-angle cams front and back, Quad-DAC, IP68, SD 821 Adreno 530. Basically, this years premium midranger vs last years flagship. Which one would you buy?
Valid points Vivek. Sadly I've had massive problems with some LG products in the past, so that puts me off a bit. Good specs though 👍🏻

Thanks for replying. Moto G6 was a big disappointment, don't know what Lenovo is thinking using old soc's and creating so many versions of a phone, which then become harder to update. Between Zenfone5 and Honor 10, to me, Zenfone 5 has more unique and useful features, and a cleaner UI. But I like my music, and that QuadDAC is really pulling me.

Oh yes, I totally get where you are coming from on the audio. I guess the deciding factor for a lot of people will be a single feature such as audio, or camera quality etc.

Great video!! I have been using Lenovo Vibe P1m for more than two years now and sometimes it just does not work properly anymore, so I have been thinking about a new phone. My friend bought an iPhone 6s recently and she is satisfied with it and for a while, I have been thinking about it as well. But I have never used an iPhone before, plus I'm not sure if it is a good idea to buy it now. I've thought that it would probably be better idea to buy some new android phone for maybe less money than older version of iPhone. So, I have really been thinking abou this one :) would you say that it'd be a good idea to buy iPhone 6s or Asus zenfone 5 ? or my other option is Honor 9 Lite

I was using the iPhone X as my main device...and I have now 100% switched to the ZenFone 5.
The camera is good enough for me to take daily snaps and 4K video, and all of the other features such as the stereo speakers etc make it so enjoyable to use.
Being an Android handset, I can no longer send iMessages or make FaceTime calls...but most of the people I know use WhatsApp anyway now for messages and video calls.
I say...go for the ZenFone 5. For the money I think it's absolutely fantastic!! 😀

Hmmm tricky one. Personally I prefer the ZenFone...but if you are used to Samsung handsets, it may be better to stick with the A8. I really like the ZenUI and also the quality of the images from the camera too. But the A8 also has a decent camera - ha ha ha. I don't have the A8 with me to compare it to either...so that is a tricky question 😀

Ooooh such a question! I think I would go with the 5Z but the OP6 has some great features. That is a tricky one 😁
If you want AMOLED, then go with OP6, just be carefull with the burn-ins

Personally, I would go with the ZenFone 5. It has stereo speakers and some great AI features...plus I really like ZenUI. Don't get me wrong though, that is me personally...I'm sure not everyone would agree 😀👍🏻
