It's Denia Spain. Been there several times on holiday, lovely place. I now only ever go to Murcia because my fiancée is from there. Great review as always.
Dude... the most honest reviews.. Always watching ur opinions and im glad u do exist!! im between Mi Note 3 and XZ1.. i would go for the Mi Note 3 but the B20 band missing is a pain in the ass.. I Live in HELLAS and our providers dont cover 4g on B20
Notch should never invented, but at least Asus not follow Apple wise decision to kill headphone jack, this also support Micro SD something who also should never gone from any Phone.
The charging is due to its "AI charging" function. Apparently the way it charges is good for battery health. I _think_ you can turn it off in the battery settings though (disable AI Charging... I think it's under the PowerMaster setting. It should work like other phones when disabled, but if you don't mind that it charges very slowly for the last few % over 95%, you could leave it turned on. I have and the battery life is still good - and hopefully it means the battery won't have reduced capacity as soon as other phones.
It's off the Ai charging by default. So I left it off. So that is not the issue. Some bug so it stops charging, and slower than expected. I remember the Zenfone 3 or 2 also had some units stopping charging. The bug is back or it's my unit.
I have the Zenfone 3 and stop charging when there are electricity variations ... I already ordered the Zenfone 5 online ... If it's half as good as the 3 ... It's worth it ... I've used many phones, but the most durable are Asus ... I bought the 3 with android 6.0 and today I have 8.0
I've noticed that you always SEEM to get faulty units, but what I think is going on is that "tech influencers" get proper versions so that the rest of us will go and buy the phone and be stuck with the disappointment and money wasted. PLEASE DON'T STOP; We need more people like you.
For those really big Tech Reviewers it would be no hassle to buy it themself even via a friends account to make sure you get a random Device and not handpicked Ones.
Great review. Next phone to feature LG G7 ThinQ. And btw, Asus has also announced Zenfone 5z. An almost similar looking elder sibling of Zenfone 5 with sd845 and its priced under $500. However I don't know it has launched or yet to be launched. It would be great if you can feature it too on the channel. Cheers.
Love the review I always have a smile when I get a notification from you about a phone review. As I can't actually think of a phone that you totally like. To be fair I don't think £289 UK is a bad price. As Asus is a little better know in the west.
I got this phone last friday and I love it. I used it more often compared to my iphone 7 although in gaming I prefer using my iphone coz it's more responsive and no lags at all. But I love this phone nevertheless
The pricing to me seems very competitive! I paid 350€ and it has top-notch build quality, display , main camera and overall speed. And in silver especially it's a stunner! Great job Asus - loving this little gem of a flagship killer.
Hey nice review! Have you heard about the new OPPO F7? It's another notch midrange phone with cheaper price tag than zenfone 5 and packed with Helio P60 processor (presumably faster than SD636). Would love to hear your thoughts about it!
For me the Zenfone 4 is more like a Zenfone 3.5. It doesn't bring a lot of improvement from Zenfone 3. Used Zenfone 3 and fell in love with it. I think I'm going to save my money for this phone. It looks great, performs great and has a great value
My wife and I own asus 3s. Up to date with oreo updates regularly. Your problems with the 5 almost certainly to be updated soon. Would like to buy a pair of 5s if I can convince her she needs a phone. She has already said she doesn't. Could be difficult.
Nice video again man👍 Hey uh in playstore there is an app to hide the notch called "nacho notch" and it can enabled the rounded corners, i know in zenfone 5 there is a build in software to hide it but without the rounded corners, just want to know is it looks good in zenfone 5 if you use that app?
Do you think an OTA update would be improving the camera performance to what it shold be.. please give an update if that happens, and please compare camera with MI 6X/A2 when you do.. that would help me, and hopefully others to decide which one to go for..
Hi Chris, Nice review. Damir also had charging issues. This phone seems like a mixed bag - charging is a big issue. I think there are better handsets at this price (I suspect that will plumet shortly). The pic of the flower (5.05 in this vid) looks almost identical to one I took in Pollenca last week with a MI A1.
Will you be reviewing Mi 8 SE coz that is the one I am more interested in due to its newest processor and price. Please do review it and compare its camera with Mi 6X as they have similar price.
Your charging problem is due to the time you was charging your phone at with " battery care" enabled. the setting is in powermaster --> battery care. Battery care is their way of allowing you charge overnight without doing too much damage to the battery. original adapter will do a qc 1.0 5v 2A (+ sign on battery logo). qc 3.0 will charge at 9v (++ sign on battery logo).
@@Techtablets It happened to me with zenfone 2 model. The solution was that once it stops charging, to disconnect it from the power supply for a few seconds and then return it back, after a while it will be 100% full charge.
Are you going to review the zenfone 5z too? With the snapdragon 845, 8 gb of ram, 256 gb of rom plus sd card support, audio jack and maybe even usb 3.0 for hdmi output and a good price looks like the best choice for me, and looks like the phone it's not getting enough attention. Thanks.
the charging happen to be caused by the AI as told by the Asus people during official launch today in Malaysia. Good review by the way.. at the launching they elaborate much about the camera but from your review no we know about the real performance
AI boost seems to improve the CPU and memory (ROM speed through bigger entropy?) only, despite it looks like in the realm of SD660 performance. The GPU score is the same.
Is the camera really that bad tho? I'm a little worried about that since this phone is in my wishlist, along with honor 10 and mi mix 2 that have very similar price in my country ( around 300$ )
The wide-angle yes. The main 12MP no, it's good. Just needs a little optimization. See the camera comparsion too if you're worried: ua-cam.com/video/hSNAaNA3Irs/v-deo.html
Do you think it's better or worse than the mi mix 2? Does it's single camera hold up against the zenfone 5 dual camera? I feel like for 300$ a 835 chip would be really good, the other thing i'm worried about for the mi mix 2 is the screen brightness and colors that seems to be worse compared to zenfone 5.
it's odd to see 4K EIS gone, I thought I remembered having it on 4K on my SD625 Zenfone 3. That was a sweet camera back then, but now has been surpassed. And here ASUS has failed to copy the dual camera buzz. That 2MP sensor shouldn't be there.
Hmm the upcoming Mi8 should be in the same price range maybe I'm staying with Xiaomi although I love the design of the Asus and like the idea of a wide-angle camera more than just having a second shooter back there.... 300€ would be a more fitting price. Nevertheless great review :)
i wonder if the staggered charging is a 'feature' per se like sony's soft charging which prevents a full charge and increase the life-span of the battery.
that charging stop thingy, zenfone 5 use AI (artficial inteligence) on charging battery. if u charge ur device at midnight when u sleep, it stop charging or something like that i think
Just adding my two cents. I recently got this phone, and the photos I have taken with the wide angle camera are not as blurry and bad as the ones you took. Perhaps it was fixed with an update or something (I updated it as soon as I opened it), but there is really no comparison between the photos you took and the ones I have been taking.

Dude i want to live where you live. I feel like i can take an awesome photo of that place using a potato with a lens.
You should go to New Zealand South Island. Normal snaps become landscape masterpieces.
Me too...
I think it somewhere in spain. Valencia perhaps ?
It's Denia Spain. Been there several times on holiday, lovely place. I now only ever go to Murcia because my fiancée is from there. Great review as always.
true right, this guy lives in paradise

Chulumanco Sifuba They must get golden (selected) units or they simply don't report the issues.
Exactly. It's shameful to be honest.

AlUrNiMa lol these so called big tech reviewers only cares about $$$.
Yea. Unfortunately, probably. One of the reasons I much rather support/watch TechTablets and Channels like his.
Awesome video dude!

Very good review. I hope the charging issue is just a single case. Would u do a review on the zenfone 5Z when it will be available?
Best review of Asus Zenfone 5 on UA-cam.
You really well explained .
Lovely review 👌👌
Is there inbuilt call recorder and native video call (Vilte) in dialer?

How is the battery life mate? Is it better than your iphone 7 in battery life?

Hello, thanks for the review. did the charging issue solved?
In here, its about 280usd for sd636 variant, hence the hype.
Everybody like this phone because of the premium feeling but with cheaper price
You have the review of all the smatphones that for me the people should buy.Saludos desde colombia
Hi Chris, has Asus resolved some problems you talked about? The call quality, cameras and charging?
i want to see ur mi8 review as soon as it's launched 😍 I'm extremely eager for that phone to come out
It's not a charge issue. It's a feature to extend the battery life. Great review
Also do review the 5z when its available pls. 😀
Congratulations for another great video! ... what's the best, xiaomi mi note 5 or asus zenfone 5 ??
Taking into account the price-quality ratio.
The title alone deserves a ton of likes. The disappearing notch function is effing clever!
Great honest review once again btw ... Love the TT style

Really nice video!! Very useful
Thanks!!
Thank you Bro ! Excellent review
Nice video again man👍
Hey uh in playstore there is an app to hide the notch called "nacho notch" and it can enabled the rounded corners, i know in zenfone 5 there is a build in software to hide it but without the rounded corners, just want to know is it looks good in zenfone 5 if you use that app?

In my country it will be ~$285 converted, do you think for that price it will be a great buy?
zenfone 5 vs mi6x, which one should i buy?
Notification squad!
Love your reviews
All cameras can take a very good picture of Vera because she is such a beauty
Very true! And she is back to looking 100% again :D
TechTablets.com that is really great to hear :3

So Vera is the cat's name? She's adorable. 😍
L Monty she really is :3
Just got mine delivered yesterday, I'll be dissecting your review in due course. All in the name of truth, of course.
Thanks for the detailed review of this phone..love from India.. 💜

Android One No that's disabled and disabled by default as it's slow charging. I'm aware of it so that's why I never enabled it
absolutely strange. did you ever try a full reset after latest update to see if it still does it? or try a different charger and usb c cable?
@@Techtablets It happened to me with zenfone 2 model. The solution was that once it stops charging, to disconnect it from the power supply for a few seconds and then return it back, after a while it will be 100% full charge.
Would you buy this for $336?
Hello Chris, did you updated this phone to pie? is the main camera became blurry after pie update?
Are you going to review the zenfone 5z too? With the snapdragon 845, 8 gb of ram, 256 gb of rom plus sd card support, audio jack and maybe even usb 3.0 for hdmi output and a good price looks like the best choice for me, and looks like the phone it's not getting enough attention. Thanks.

What do you think which is better one plus 6 or Asus zenfone 5?!
Hi! I heard there is an update the brings 1080p 120fps did you get that update?
For you what is the Best 10.1 or 9.7 chinese tablet ??
Jean-Louis Latour Teclast Master T10
Great video! Could you do nokia 7 plus on the next video? Thank you
Sir I like your reviews
Do you consider the Redmi Note 5 (Pro china version that you reviewed) to be better than this?
According to recent study, the camera and the sensors are actually good. What make the photo look bad is Asus Camera Apps that process the images.
eer by the way, where do you reside? the view is to die for
sir, does this phone supports OTG (USB On The Go) natively?
Does this really take micro SIM? I thought it would only take nano SIM
AI boost seems to improve the CPU and memory (ROM speed through bigger entropy?) only, despite it looks like in the realm of SD660 performance. The GPU score is the same.
which laptop is that on the left, on your desk?
what color is that of the asus zenfone 5?
Max Cuajao That's the midnight blue color.
camera comparison between zenfone 5 vs mi 6x vs mi mix 2s
which is better with camera between zenfone 3 zoom vs zenfone 5?
Hey dude what country you are?
ZenFone 5 is $309 pre-order in Thailand.
I think the price is worth it.
in my country, they sell with only $280
How come Google Play Services is not in the list of battery list? It usually sucks around 10% battery on my phone
Did wide angle camera still underperform even with gcamera?
Price?
Need a camera comparison with mi 6x
0:55 so smart it moves on its own
Magic!
Is the camera really that bad tho? I'm a little worried about that since this phone is in my wishlist, along with honor 10 and mi mix 2 that have very similar price in my country ( around 300$ )

I'm fucking dead at that one
what is actual price ?
how far does the camera shutter speed go?
it's odd to see 4K EIS gone, I thought I remembered having it on 4K on my SD625 Zenfone 3. That was a sweet camera back then, but now has been surpassed. And here ASUS has failed to copy the dual camera buzz. That 2MP sensor shouldn't be there.
HOW THE HELL CAN IT BE OVERPRICED??? ITS JUST UNDER 400$ WHICH PHONE LOOKS BETTER AND PERFORMS AS GOOD WITH THE SAME PRICE ?
If you think that zenfone 5 is overpriced, then i believe that vivo v9 and oppo f7 are more overpriced phone :v
Kenneth Ignacio agree!!!!
Kenneth Ignacio v9 and f7 overprice for the chipset their use, like v7 before, just sd450 at high price
This or the Huawei P20 lite? Aside from price.
Regarding the charging: could you try with a quick charge 3.0 charger and see if the phone supports it and how fast it is?
Rhazmuz I have and it seems no faster!
original adapter will do a qc 1.0 5v 2A (+ sign on battery logo).
a qc 3.0 will charge at 9v (++ sign on battery logo).
Android One Have you also tested if the actual charging time is faster? Or if it just a visual difference?
it is faster than original adapter. but i never measure it and i don't usually charge to 100%
Review yang sangat bagus, terima kasih.

what is 4k Mbps of video?
Does it support 5gz wifi band????
Can you do its camera camparison between this and mi note 5 pro
How much money you take from other vendors ?
lol tru
The wide angle camera isn't that bad. It performs well actually. It's decent.
Mark MyWords really??? You're joking right? The lens and sensor are horrible. Just look at my samples...
From what I saw it has the same sensor of the 5z version, which has the same camera sensor as the mi 8 and mimix 2s.
Thales Evangelista Yeah it is. This guy needs to research more. 😂
100/100 agreed!
compare the camera with the xiaomi mi6x please..
Can we get this phone in INDIA..
And if so what will be the price?
Water resistant?
thanks for the review I've decided to wait for zenfone 5z with sd845 atleast $200 more from zen5.
Let's hope they fix the bugs and wide angle camera.
right now it's either zenfone 5z or the upcoming Mi 8
Wow what were DxO mark smoking when they rated this near the pixel? it's not even remotely close...
please make video about zenfone 5 vs mi6x camera comparison
Notch another notch. I like your shed.
Does it support project treble
Any info on DRM?
