350 dollar is the right price. The charging is AI which means it wont be fast 100% to prevent your battery.
If DXOmark is paid than they would be out of business.

The charging is due to its "AI charging" function. Apparently the way it charges is good for battery health.
I _think_ you can turn it off in the battery settings though (disable AI Charging... I think it's under the PowerMaster setting. It should work like other phones when disabled, but if you don't mind that it charges very slowly for the last few % over 95%, you could leave it turned on. I have and the battery life is still good - and hopefully it means the battery won't have reduced capacity as soon as other phones.
It's off the Ai charging by default. So I left it off. So that is not the issue. Some bug so it stops charging, and slower than expected. I remember the Zenfone 3 or 2 also had some units stopping charging. The bug is back or it's my unit.

I already ordered the Zenfone 5 online ... If it's half as good as the 3 ... It's worth it ... I've used many phones, but the most durable are Asus ... I bought the 3 with android 6.0 and today I have 8.0

I got this phone last friday and I love it. I used it more often compared to my iphone 7 although in gaming I prefer using my iphone coz it's more responsive and no lags at all. But I love this phone nevertheless
How is the battery life mate? Is it better than your iphone 7 in battery life?

it's odd to see 4K EIS gone, I thought I remembered having it on 4K on my SD625 Zenfone 3. That was a sweet camera back then, but now has been surpassed. And here ASUS has failed to copy the dual camera buzz. That 2MP sensor shouldn't be there.

My wife and I own asus 3s. Up to date with oreo updates regularly. Your problems with the 5 almost certainly to be updated soon. Would like to buy a pair of 5s if I can convince her she needs a phone. She has already said she doesn't. Could be difficult.

Hey uh in playstore there is an app to hide the notch called "nacho notch" and it can enabled the rounded corners, i know in zenfone 5 there is a build in software to hide it but without the rounded corners, just want to know is it looks good in zenfone 5 if you use that app?

Those icons! They almost look like Samsung's TouchWiz. Can't help but wonder if Asus could have gone a different route & come up with something original.
Asus seems to use poor wide angle lenses or they can't seem to "tune/optimize them well. Had a ZF4 Max and while its a much lower end phone it also had a really disappointing secondary wide angle lens. Of course for the price it was more excusable than it is for this.
thats mean there are 2 big problems :
1- Camera
2- Charging.

For me the Zenfone 4 is more like a Zenfone 3.5. It doesn't bring a lot of improvement from Zenfone 3.
Used Zenfone 3 and fell in love with it. I think I'm going to save my money for this phone. It looks great, performs great and has a great value
the charging happen to be caused by the AI as told by the Asus people during official launch today in Malaysia. Good review by the way.. at the launching they elaborate much about the camera but from your review no we know about the real performance
YOW THERE! MAYBE YOU'RE HAVING THE CHARGING ISSUE BECAUSE THE UNIT HAS THE AI CHARGING. IT DOES NOT STOP CHARGING, IT SLOWLY INJECTING ELECTRONS THROUGH THE UNIT. THE ASUS EXPLAINED EVERYTHING IN THERE CONFERENCE. MAYBE YOU MISSED THAT. PLEASE CHECK IT THOROUGHLY.
that charging stop thingy, zenfone 5 use AI (artficial inteligence) on charging battery. if u charge ur device at midnight when u sleep, it stop charging or something like that i think
i have this phone for 2weeks now and i must say i kind a regret it hahaha the front camera is bad for its price it is always overposed images if you will turn on the HDR on front and the back camera is good. but the recent updates i think ruined the HDR mode on the back the images look sharp but it seems like the texture are animated haha

They use ai for charging to help the longetivity of the battery by stopping at around 80%.
for 350 bucks id atleast expect a decent camera, not tooo impressed.. scratch that, not impressed with the camera at all, let down actually!
The pricing to me seems very competitive! I paid 350€ and it has top-notch build quality, display , main camera and overall speed. And in silver especially it's a stunner! Great job Asus - loving this little gem of a flagship killer.

Nice looking phone - BUT: (overall don't like it compared to Axon 7)
CONS:
+ Fingerprint reader sucks - does not work 99% of time - my Axon 7 fingerprint reader is great
+ Very difficult to setup - too many options some very hidden
+ navigation keys bottom of phone to close to screen easy to accidentally hit
+ Cameras too complicated - too many options
+ Ships to Central Europe with UK power plug on power charger
+ No (not clear) instructions on how to install SIM 2 - SIM 1 is also confusing but can be figured out
+ Font size too small in top row Information line - almost impossible to read
+ New HIDE notch switch update - EXCELLENT
PROS:
+ Cameras are quite clear - but somewhat difficult to use
+ Audio is crisp and loud
+ lots of updates
+ Look and feel is nice but still prefer Axon 7
+ Price is good value - US$428 Amazon USA +$35 shipping + $97 VAT and customs to central Europe

Hmm the upcoming Mi8 should be in the same price range maybe I'm staying with Xiaomi although I love the design of the Asus and like the idea of a wide-angle camera more than just having a second shooter back there.... 300€ would be a more fitting price. Nevertheless great review :)

It's called ai charging. You have to turn it off in the ai settings
Your charging problem is due to the time you was charging your phone at with " battery care" enabled. the setting is in powermaster --> battery care. Battery care is their way of allowing you charge overnight without doing too much damage to the battery.
original adapter will do a qc 1.0 5v 2A (+ sign on battery logo). qc 3.0 will charge at 9v (++ sign on battery logo).
Android One No that's disabled and disabled by default as it's slow charging. I'm aware of it so that's why I never enabled it
absolutely strange. did you ever try a full reset after latest update to see if it still does it? or try a different charger and usb c cable?
@@Techtablets It happened to me with zenfone 2 model. The solution was that once it stops charging, to disconnect it from the power supply for a few seconds and then return it back, after a while it will be 100% full charge.

The ZenFone has almost no advantages over the Note 5 while the Note is much cheaper.
