Floating trees would make it pretty easy to erect barriers to sight or movement, just push and tie a bunch of them together into a line and anchor the endpoints and you've significantly slowed an enemy advance. Arranged in a looser formation they could block aerial surveillance of troop movements, especially if you're working with redwoods or other trees with high canopies so your ground level would be relatively clear.
