I hope there are young people under 25 listening to this recording. Kids, this is as high as it gets. This is the pinnacle of 70s Floyd.
Im 18 and when i listen to these pieces of history, i always think to myself, how Lucky am i to be alive in the years where Pink Floyd is ?
Here I am! 23... soon to age...
24, biggest Floyd fan, we're here
I was exactly 25 hen this video was uploaded and I've been listening to it since that day hehe
I'm 30 now but I do have a few friends who are in their mid 20's and listen to Pink Floyd with me. Long live good music.
Im 18 and I absolutely love Floyd
Animals has held up well, huh? Incredible. I remember buying it - I shoveled snow to make money to get it when it was released - and I still have the vinyl
Fantastic story! Also I agree that it has held up extremely well!! Still blows my mind each time. 🙏😎🙏😎🙏
On top that is you have ORIGINAL vinyl
Yes indeed it has and will always.
If I'm not mistaken this was my first album by Floyd, my brother bought me the 8track
I did too , we all did what we had to do
Animals is a Masterpiece
The most brilliant band of Rock History. This will remain for the Ages.
True immortality 🙌 truly brilliant band, the music has taken on a life span of its own that will span the ages♥️
Every fan of the Beatles, The Stones, The Cream, the Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, ELP or Gentle Giant says the same. Agree I do that Pink Floyd is as good and even better than most of the ones I mentioned above
@@Jaapkore none of those I put an entire record on just to listen to it all.
Just chilling
AGREED
I have to say this. May 9, 1977. Considered the best live Grateful Dead show EVER. May 9, 1977, considered the best PF show EVER. Must have been some amazing energy in the air that day.
I dig this...Too bad the Dead were honest and loyal to the music and their fans...And the floyd couldn't get along......Can you imagine if Floyd shared half the live music the Dead did...
Wasn’t that May 8th?
@@2v_5r84 yes it was....5/8/77. 2 great bands, very different from each other. One played the same show every night thru a tour, the other never played the same show thru any tour. One played for their fans and to serve the music, the other played for god knows what reasons...none strong enough to get the over the hump of their inter personal BS. (it's never too late for Dave and Rog to bury the hatchet. Until it is)
Okay, we can do this. The 8th in Cornell, and then we hop a plane to Oakland for this show. Okay! Who's got the time machine? (~);-}
Man NUFF SAID. I sat in a many Dead shows, and I would have to completely agree. The energy flowing that year is truly powerful. Barton Hall just to name 1.
Animal is the best album of Pink Floyd. My favorite.
I was there! 3rd row center floor @ 16 years old! I been to 100's of music events, THIS stands at the apex! thank you so much for bring this to me all these years later!
wow, you saw the last performance of Careful with that Axe, Eugene then
I was 3 years 2 months and a week old....it was pretty much over by thr time i hit travel to concert age. If theres one performance live id like to have seen its oakland 77 💯 true gods of music....my favourite bamd ever!
You were 16, and had been to 100s of music events. You must've counted watching Sesame Street and American Band Stand on TV....
@@joethornell1126 No sir, I was lucky enough grow up in the Bay Area hand had inside connections to Bass Tickets. Name band that ran through here in the late 70's to mid 80's there was a chance I saw them. I have seen the Dead over 100 times alone.
"The dog up and died , up died and many years he still grieved" FYI I have seen both Jerry Jeff & Bromberg do this song
@@joethornell1126 hahaha,😁he didn't say before Floyd, you domcoph.
I passed on going to this concert because I didn't think Pink Floyd would be able to do justice live for many of their songs. My brother did attend the show, and said it was the best concert he ever saw. It's so great for me to have a chance to listen 46 years later!
I was at the show in chicago that summer, I was down in the center about 10 rows back on the ground in soldiers field tripping on acid .it was a show I'll never forget.
I can imagine it . They have always been my go to on Sid . Somehow I missed out on their shows Not that there were tons of them . I ended up on the bus with the dead but Floyd was always one of my favorites. They always take me right back to the mind space of LSD . Must’ve been the best trip you had that night. A little jealous lol
The last time I seen them believe it was Division Bell tour went in straight came out felt like I was tripping on LSD love Floyd 🎵🎶🎸👍🙏 by the way I've done a lot of tripping 😬 !!!!
I believe this is the last live performance of Careful with that Axe, Eugene
I can tell you without even having to look that this was a Thursday night. Because I was a junior in a senior science class in high school. And on a certain Friday morning, half the class had been at this concert the night before, and I heard all about how amazing the concert was (and they were probably all still high). I wasn't quite into Pink Floyd yet, and as the years have gone by, I have increasingly regretted not having been into Floyd a couple of years earlier and gone to that show!
I was at this show!!! I was tripping with a full sized bong in my hand. I liked this show even better than the Wall show in 1980. One of the best shows I have ever seen. I have been to over 1200 shows!
Gilmore is simply brilliant on Dogs and those solos
The best live version of Pigs 3 I've heard. So much personality in Water's singing and Gilmour's guitar!
NO SHIT
Gilmour was on fire that night. Pigs blew my mind, but Shine On led me through every emotion a human being can possibly have. Pure magic 🎸=✨😢😮😭✨
I think most these versions are dare I say cooler than the live? I mean even the intro Sheep was so cool what they changed about it
I was 17 yearrs old when animals came out this is the first time I've heard any live tracks from the album especially during the tour to support it I friggin love this 🤟♥️
1:15:52 it's nice to hear David and Roger laughing together
It fits the theme of the lyrics too. The sarcasm really comes through.
This has to be up there with one of the best Floyd Bootlegs I've ever heard.
A moist enjoyable experience.
Glad to see it's "a moist enjoyable experience". Pink Floyd can do this to a listener.
This particular bootleg is considered a classic. It goes by many names: California Stockyard, A Great Set, Animal Instincts, etc. Any name you give it, it's still one of the greatest live rock shows ever staged. And, yes, quite moist.
😍✌👏👏👏
Indeed, it is very moist.
Probably the best tape of the entire tour
The interpretation of 'Pigs' is absolutely amazing. Pink Floyd has always been a diamond of the music. A bullet in human history. They are gods.
They are their own genre
Gilmours Performance here is outstanding. Pigs alone is unbelievable, I mean what is it with 50:45 and probably any other solo in the song.
This is easily one of the best live records that I have ever heard from any band.
Génial ! Merci pour le cadeau ! Concert inédit et méconnu avec l'intégrale des albums " Animals " et " Wish You Were Here " !
Trop d'la balle !!!🥳🤪💗😺
Nick Mason is fucking amazing, ok so all the guys sound great for sure but his drumming is so integral to the feel and groove of Floyd it can easily and often does get unnoticed or overlooked.
As alot of you have commented already such great audio quality for a bootleg gig 🎶🎵🎶🎵❤
1000% Nick and Richard are often overlooked, as there would be no Pink Floyd without these 2
@@93coupes26 absolutely !!
I didnt see PF until 1987. I was 20. NOW--I go back to listen to their 60's & 70's concerts & ANYTHING they do now does not compare to their IMPROV performances/ Without the well-known lineup the majority of us know, it's not the same/ It was magic--you CANT duplicate that without Roger/ The circle is only complete with the Magic 4 man formula!!! Argue all you want--they ALL NEED each other to pull it off
Syd barret included. He was the initial front man.
Absolutely mind blowing that I found this....and believe me when I say I'm a fucken 2:00 mns in..... God bless the Floyd
Love how Gilmour starts to freak out with his strat at Shine On You Crazy Diamond 1:00:58....definitely no bands like this nowadays.
Holy cow!!!
Legendary recording!!
The live takes rival or beat the studio recordings. A1 Floyd material
Oh my , this is beautiful.
This concert sounds awesome dogs was phenomenal
I am listening right now and this sounds SUPER decent for a 1970s bootleg.
I was there at this Oakland concert. I count it as one of the two best rock concerts that I've ever seen. (the other one was The Who, touring behind "Who's Next". That show was in Miami Beach,Florida)
Snowy White guitar solo on "Have a Cigar" and acoustic on "Wish You Were Here".
1:15:54 I always love the part when Roger and David start laughing trying to sing Have A Cigar
So many great live versions of the classics too....have a cigar is ridiculously good aa were wish you were here, shine on etc. Best concert recording of the best band ever! Gilmour plays well outside the regular structure in so many tracks and it adds to the magic. Every member of the band played a blinder🙌😍
Gilmour is the Bees knees! and he was on fire here! what a treat.
WOW what a great honor it is to be informed that the legendary Pink Floyd played live in Oakland on my 13th birthday Thanks Pink Floyd and the Good Lord Above
The sound that starts up at the end of "Pigs On The Wing" was something that was played through the quad sound system, so it "moved" across the arena as the sound intensifies. It was done several times before the concert started too - this loud, rushing, sound would fly around the room via quad mixing. 15 year old me thought it was somehow invoking the subways of NYC...
love this album with roger's belting out those great vocals ...Animals is at the top of the heap for me
This is remarkably well recorded and preserved holy smokes. With all the talk about the importance of this concert it certainly holds up and then goes beyond. Counting my stars today to find at least one show off this tour in FANTASTIC quality! Thanks
Animals , the best album of Pink Floyd
Absolutely, fabulous performance, Pink Floyd. Thank you, good time for you
Oh my! Gilmour is on fire when soloing on Pigs 3 and Shine On! Excellent versions.
Saw Floyd a few here in Washington D.C. Capital Centre, RFK , '77 JFK Phila. This is One ofMy Favorites, Snowy White ! Great Jam ! Excellent Recording, My Pupils are Dilating
I just notice good smokable hemp sold in a store neer me this is great to end the day
Wow must have been incredible to see this live
Saw it in Frankfurt... My 1st time live experience with Pink Floyd - I was 25........ 🥲🥲🥲
Absolute masterpiece! Espescially the outro solo of Pigs is in its own league
This gig was outstanding!
One of the best audience recordings ive ever heard of any band
I had the great fortune of attending this performance. So great to experience it again.
😎🎸‼
♥️
PINK FLOYD AND GENESIS BOTH BROUHT ME TO THE GALAXY, from an old 65 years old human being, in QUÉBEC, CAN.
Awesome quality! Thank you very much!
Yes, Pigs and Money are really great and overall this concert is above the line. But guys, Careful that axe Eugene, isn't that devastating? That's the combination of darkness and perfection!
F*** me, this is one amazing recording. What an enjoyable evening I had. Headphones, spliff, sorted.
I was there!
To me that would have been the concert of my life. These days their albums comes to life.
So was I
Meaning I was there as well.
Russell Beere
Lucky 🍀
meto!
I've heard many different issues of this show, and this one sounds the best of them all.
Sheep, Pigs, Dogs, 3 morceaux légendaires
I remember exactly where I was, (a snack bar in the City of London) when I read the Melody Maker review of Animals, got the album the next day. Really one of their best ever and often overlooked. The new remix is stunning. Never got to see this tour but did see The Wall at Earles Court - just awesome. Thanks for posting, great audio, it sounds as though it’s from the mixer desk, but also has the crowd - radio broadcast? - regardless, one of the best live bootleg recordings I’ve heard. Dogs is one of my all time favourite Floyd songs, fabulous version on this recording. And of course Shine on …
(My commuter journey would go past Battersea Power Station and I would never look at it the same way again … !)
Man that solo in Pigs is straight up brutal, one of Gilmour’s best for sure.
That's an incredible version of Pigs!
I saw the 77 tour in Cleveland stadium! Still one of the best concerts I’ve been privileged to have seen
genius - wish music like this could be produced AGAIN - LOVE IT
I love how the wooden floor in my house vibrates listening to this ..
This is my favorite live PF concert, along with “yeeshkul!”... Thanks for the upload.
Thank you so much for uploading this concert! It was superb from start to finish! I just love Pink Floyd and am discovering new recordings. In this live version of Careful with that axe, Eugene, Roger has the most epic primal screams ever!
I was at this concert! With my brother!
It has stood up over the years as one of the best concerts I ever attended!
Still remember the pig going over my head!
Kilroy was there. Piggly Wiggly was up in the air and the Dogs were trained not to spit at the fan and told what to do by the man. Welcome my friends to your machine. Memories to last a lifetime.
Maravilhoso. Uma das melhores versões de "Us and Them" que já ouvi.
Holy crap, I wish I’d been able to see and hear and FEEL this in person when I was 14. At least I can be grateful I had the shoplifted albums to fill my brain through headphones. As I’m still doing now at work.
I love the animals album. Beat live performance I've heard yet. You kick ass.
Undoubtedly, this was the finest show of the Animals tour, and a contender for the best concert Floyd ever did. God bless the Floyd.
Thank you for this amazing experience.
I saw this show on tour in Orlando while in the Navy. I had a hearing test the next day. Needless to say, I failed. My Corpsman at the appointment was in the row ahead of me the night before at the concert. He vouched to the Doctor that my hearing was poor as a result of the Best Show Ever!!
One of my favorite albums by Pink Floyd. Can listen to it over and over for hours.
Real muzic! The real Pink Floyd! Togheter is great!!!❤❤❤
Pink Floyd -
Heard them in January in the same year,
in Festhalle Frankfurt am Main - will never
forget this concert !
I was there and it was fantastic.
Rogers scream at 7:14 ist epic.
at 47:10 there's also a nice little scream session
The night before arguably the best Grateful Dead show ever 5/8/77 Cornell. May 77 was a good month !
I saw the Dead at Cornell a few years after that, and surprisingly they weren't very good, at least to my ears. It felt like they'd been on the road too long and just wanted to go home, so they were just cranking it out. A big disappointment for me. And as always, terrible acoustics in the gym, which didn't help. So I was surprised to hear a while back that a previous Cornell show is considered their best ever. Too bad I missed that one.
Was in Cleveland June. Top shows in my 64 years of life
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
I had to buy this album on CD because I had played it on vinyl so many times it was unplyable 😊
Outstanding! I just wish Dave would have used the talkbox on Pigs( 3 Different Ones)
Agree. That talk box is so iconic and important to the song ... IMHO.
@@michaeltassi6018 You don't hear much about his use of the talk box on this cut. It deserves to be up there with Rocky Mountain Way and Do You Feel like We Do, IMHO.
PINK Floyd BEST!
I was in the 10th grade - a soon to be better friend gave me a ticket the day of the show. It was the first night so that was 5/8. They played all of Animals, all of Wish You Were Here, and Money and Us And Them. It was the easily the best complete performance I ever saw, and that's saying something as I have seen Days on the Green, The Dead on NYE, almost all the great gutarists, etc. I will never forget the power of Gilmour's guitar late in Dogs - he only hits a few single notes and you just know that he could blow the roof off of the place if he felt like it.
Wife and I bought 20 tickets for each night and took all our friends. Cost was $8.50 each - we were flying, and not just from the music, which took it over the top. In 1993 when I saw them at the Rose Bowl, I realized it was music one didn't need to get high for. It was still over the top.
After this show we follwed Floyd around the country and saw this tour 9 times, MSG all 4 nights, ending with the Montreal Olympic stadium for the last night of the tour. - until the next tour, 17 times altogether. Added: and now Roger 7 times - greatest shows on Earth
I wish you had footage of the Diamond in the Center of the stage, that was Awesome!
It's in the Knebworth video footage. I'm uploading that tonight. I thought of you when i matched up where it should go with the audio.
Thank you so much! FB me Carole Ann Scolaro Plz
Adoro rock and roll e metal
I believe this was only time they played Careful With That Axe Eugene. The scream was awesome in Quad sound.
They played it pretty often.
💜
Shine on 💎
I saw the night after. First pot brownie🤭
Excellent !!!
Great flow of vibe 🎶🎶😀🎹🥁🎤🎵🎸
Phenomenal music 🎼🎶 man 🎸🙌🙏😇✌️✝️☮️🎤🥁🎹🌍🎵🍯🔔🩷🌎😎
Dave's voice is really shot. Must be near the end of the tour!
