I think that certain people are only realising its potential nearly 5 years after its release, yes it is a sleeper synth, and mine is proudly sitting by the side of me, it does analog brilliantly, and it can really sound like anything that you want it too. The only thing that comes anywhere near is the Waldorf Iridum and Quantum. Nothing else comes close even after 5 years. For those who think the synthesis is limited compared to the REV 2. Its not, its exactly the same. It can sound huge, and I have not heard anything as good as this. Its a sleeper synth that really needs resurrecting. Its the only synth you will ever need.
This the sleeper synth, if you are into sound design and worked on Emu machines back in the day, this going to those sounds to another level and everything is right at your fingertips, the Rossum filters really make the difference, the sound quality is immaculate compared to all the nonsense happening with modern day converters, Akai you listening? There are lot of good videos online, the keybed is solid and controllers are awesome, the Mod Matrix is the simplest and if you want more capabilities for design there is app for it from Soundtower. I think they just need to give us more HD space and or allow us to erase some of the 8dio samples, some more small updates for those who are deep deep in this machine would blow everything up. Focusrite you listening ?
Frequency modulating the 2 samples against each other was exactly why I bought this synth. It's a very unique synth if you do a deep dive into the modulation options.
This was a really nice surprise Chris. I think we X owners are feeling a bit unloved at the moment. I personally think it's the best synth Sequential have ever made (I have several!). The filters are lovely, really special-I don't have a nicer-sounding synthesiser. If we had better sample management (see Nord!), MPE and granular/wavetable sweeping, it'd be perfect. Being able to replace the SSD/delete the samples would be a bonus. You didn't demo the ribbons, but for VS-style programming they are the beez. Thanks!
I’ve literally been going back and forth on wether to get this or a take 5. Finally decided to go for the take 5 tonight. Got in bed and then saw this video 😩😩😩😩
Tried this thing while staying in Reykjavik many years ago, being quite skeptical about samples, but after ~10 minutes I've programmed some really weird and awesome Bjork-ish stuff. Since then I dream of a smaller or a desktop version.
200 GB of sample memory!!! How embarrassing it must be for Nord Keyboards trying to convince people that Nord Stage 4 with 2 GB sample memory is enough for a $5699 keyboard. :)
That bit actually got my attention. Any synth can sound clean. If I wanted some Hans Zimmer-esque big synth voice, I'd get an OB-X or a Non-Linear C15. But I love Dave Smith for his choice of querky sounds - the Prophet 6 and the Toraiz AS-1 got some proper Dance Floor sounds in them and the Evolver and the Mopho are just totally off the charts. So I'm really glad they have a reversed saxophon/brass combo in the Prophet X.

If it had seemeless sound switching it would make alot of workstations obsolete
Thanks ! I love Calc, great artist, and demonstrateur...
Prophet X desktop would be awesome

I would like to see a keyless unit, as well.
Lots of sound design in there!
Sounds like a cracking piece of kit. Looks like Sequential will be supporting its production well into the future🌷
It sounds great
calc had a vegetable booth at a farmers market, and i’m now a vegetarian.
@@russ254 He's the Calchemist
Release it as a module and I’ll definitely buy it

Still love it.
I want this thing. Thinking of selling a few of my synths to fund it
You can do similar sound design with the Korg Modwave but without the multisamples
... and the beautiful stereo filter. That's the difference.
I love this synth…they won’t make an affordable module. The Trigon6 has a module now though, so I’m eyeballing that now.
I don't understand people buying 3rd Wave Grooves and Waldorf Ms and Quantums when you have this
I don't get people buying prophets when there's Quantum, GR 1, Mayer EMI, 3rd Wave...
@@jumpingman8160I don't get why people are buying any of these when there is the Korg Wavestation.
I have a Quantum and I the PX. About as different as you can get. Two wonderful synths.
I think it sounds dope.
this guy is from Novation, so why he presents a Sequential synth?
Focusrite own Novation and Sequential
Wonderful synth and definitely the last interesting thing by Dave Smith / Sequential.
Theres a reason why they didnt sell many of these, and hes doing a sterling job reminding us why that was:).
Sounds absolutely Pants.
It actually sounds phenomenal......Omnisphere and keyscape can sound pants to if you dont know how to play
Calc is the best love this guy die he have a channel ???
2:28 That was just awful! Hideous bad for 3499euro! Clac always chose dull organ crap waves, give us some funkadelic for heaven sake!
It's like a farting organ. 🤣

Sounds like a car salesman selling something that sound nothing like a Prophet. Sound like a linux OS with knobs
