The A168 is my favorite watch ever made. My first one lasted me about 15 years. It was my only watch through middle school and high school. I went to replace the battery, and saw the gasket was pretty much disentigrated. Seeing that is was my only watch, it was understandable. After getting more into watches about 3 years ago, the first thing i bought was another A168.
@@jonathanmeyer1164 I just asked because resuscitating watches (and other vintage objects) is such a satisfying thing to do! 11 years? What did Casio say that the battery would last would be interesting. I bought a Casio G-2900 in 2007. One reason was the "10 year Battery" print on the display. It still runs on the *same battery* today, and the light works and it is readable. I use it as my main alarmclock to wake up for years now. I have replaced the outer housing of the watch as it broke after years of heavy use, but the watch itself is still unopened since it has left the factory. (and it is the first "plastic" watch i ever had where the strap lasted longer than 2 years. It's still the same strap since 2007 too!) If it makes it 3 more years the battery would have lasted twice what Casio reckoned. And if not, i am still more than ok with it already lasting 17 instead of 10 years.

@@WUDN-WatchUDontNeed it is and great review btw
Casio a168 10 year battery life 😮,
Impressive. Casio says 7 year battery life, but it can last 10 years with no problem!
Thanks for this comment!
Wow youve never used the backlight huh? Lol
Not much before changing the battery😂 in fact I realized that I had to replace it exactly when I shot that video originally…
Casio’s illuminator
Blue light is always cool, but even cooler on affordable models like this a-168.
Thanks for commenting!!!
Anyone that says quartz watches dont have a "soul"?
Never owned a casio a168.
This is a digital classic ; if you get a good deal (and the official price per se is already a good deal..) get one!
Thanks for this comment!!!
@@WUDN-WatchUDontNeed I have one,I absolutely love it,and I'm going to do an skxmod on it to make it into true "gada" watch 👍👍👍👍
@@deanwaller8283 Way to go! So you're going to have steel case and sapphire: that will be super cool!
@@WUDN-WatchUDontNeedWell I've done the mod and it's AMAZING!It now feels like a watch that can easily last a lifetime and more, the water resistance is boosted to 100mtrs!
The only thing I'd advise is to use the original bracelet and not order the "upgraded" one,it loses all its charm with the new bracelet!
@@deanwaller8283 Thanks for telling me this! And what a coincidence: I was just thinking about getting an AE-1200 (Casio Royale) and modding just the case... It will happen soon, I guess! Congratulations on your new and super improved A-168!!!
Talk about water
@@santhyfaby you mean water resistance? With this particular watch I think it was bad, because the watchmaker who opened it to establish that it didn’t need a battery change failed to install the gasket correctly.
When I actually did change the battery cover I took care of to install the o-ring correctly.
However in general Casios have better water resistance than stated. Especially the models with the backs held by screws (such as the a-168)- you can normally swim with them, even if , on paper, You shouldn’t.
Thanks for this comment!!!
too smal ,lights are out dates.Even chinese digital watches equiped with better lights
Thanks for this comment. Yes it's an "outdated " watch and that's its charm for most of us Casio lovers. I personally love this vintage vibe light.
I'm sure the competition today is as good, or almost as good, but Casio will always be Casio.
Ya and after a year or 2 there ready for the trash because there garbage lol
@@1993reefblue I have few SKMEI watches working like longer then 7 years.Try it yourself, before commenting.I have Casios too.I know what am I talking about.
