In 82 no one could touch them. Jim was a brilliant frontman and Charlie was totally underrated as a lead guitarist. For me, things were sadly never the same once Derek and Mick left, but their early stuff still sounds brilliant and continues to influence others.
Enjoyed this interview. Please come to Cork again lads as We had a ball at the Marquee last visit. Thanks again to Charlie and the boys for meeting Us after the show and being Sound and having a craic with Us. Thanks also to Jim for the support slot at the Lostboy tour visit at Cyprus Ave, A Dream come true... John and Simply Minds (tribute band).
What's the deal with all these negative comments about how the guys of Simple Minds have gotten to old and need to "shut it down?" Yes, they're old enough to be grandpas but so is Bono from U2. If a band can hold their glory over 30 years than why not let them? They just sound just as incredible as they did when I first saw them live 28 years ago. I mean, what about the Rolling Stones? They're even older.
@Just Curious whatever gave you the impression that I give a flying fuck what you think of me. I can make you think worse if that's what you want. "Cult vibe." WHat are you.., 16?
Wish Jim all the luck in the world. One of my absolute favorites. I saw Simple Minds live at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles in the 80's it was AWESOME. Probably the best concert I ever went to and that's saying a lot because I went to a number of Rush concerts and you know Rush is tight, or was, I mean, and they did everything live sounding like studio work.
I have these two great musicians first seen during their performance at the Heineken night of the proms at Ahoy Rotterdam in 1997, since then I am a real fan of Simple Minds. And especially Jim has captured my heart, his wonderful voice I get goosebumps. I love these two. Besides nice accent what Scots.
Ils ont une carrière époustouflante peut-être qu'à un moment donné ils ont éprouvé des faiblesses mais globalement leurs chansons sont tellement percutantes et riches c'est tellement beau de voir des musiciens si humbles, sains et surtout si épanouis
Sorry don't agree they are still a great live band saw them at the 02 last year front row seats and got a chance to meet them I have seen them a lot over the years and they are still as good as ever long may they continue;-)
ah I'm French (Nobody's perfect) So this kind of accent is Scottish ...i like it very much! i must try to speek like that...but what the meanning Lad/Laddies ...?? :) English/Scottish Humor ?
"Let the day begin" is a song that was originally done by a gospel band here in the US named "the call". Simple minds did a good job remaking the song, but I still like the original version done by the call, better.
Jim Kerr......great in the early 80's........in fact my best band but then Kerr became arrogant and egotistical and that became a total turn off and was the end of it for me with them !!
Yeah I have to agree time to shut it down guy's they are coming to New Zealand in 2017, show is already sold out, I guess they can't really do another job and need more money to pay the bills.
Have been lucky enough to have seen them live in every decade and even luckier to have met Jim. He was a complete gent. Long live Simple Minds!

U2 should and will go on forever. So can Simple Minds
The last song I know was 'She's a River' from the mid 90's. But similar to the Stones, hard core fans will buy new CD's & go to concerts.
@Just Curious So?
@Just Curious whatever gave you the impression that I give a flying fuck what you think of me. I can make you think worse if that's what you want. "Cult vibe." WHat are you.., 16?

Worlds greatest band no debate....they have produced their best work in their last two albums...

Big Music is a really good album
Sou fã desse loko nem sei porque
Que grupazooo
Wtf the clips that were shown were not from the original years. Just from newer gigs.
I’d rather listen to Jim Kerr than Bono!
Humble and self deprecating....Bono is void of this..
Charlie looks more young than Jim
great bans
Charlie still looks 21 he must be going to the same botox specialist as Larry Mullin
Totally bizarre that they are the same age.
Charlie is great. He looks fab. 😁
I grew up listening to this band and as I got older I realized how wronged they were. and keep listening to their songs.
I wonder how many fans are living here in Nicaragua and if they would come here? Fat chance probably!

Charlie is beautiful
Below...
he sounds like american when he sings
+QUACK The Duck Most British singers do. It's interesting. Long live the Simple Minds!
idiots lol no they dont. The normal accent is not "american" just because they dont sound scottish. And it's not british its english, turd.
They kind of fell apart after Sparkle in the Rain. Never cared for their later material - even that damn hit song they didn't write.
well almighty, Jim is getting old real fast these days, and that reminds me that we can't buy time.
and
Jim Kerr......great in the early 80's........in fact my best band but then Kerr became arrogant and egotistical and that became a total turn off and was the end of it for me with them !!
marki worthington what
I do not agree. He's always been down to Earth.

Paul Hewson....Bono...laughable.
Oh dear. Sorry, but time to get off the stage.

Yeah I have to agree time to shut it down guy's they are coming to New Zealand in 2017, show is already sold out, I guess they can't really do another job and need more money to pay the bills.
