Very informative, Mr. Bricks. Awesome video. Would love to see more in the future! :D EDIT: Don't forget about us when you become a huge UA-cam sensation!
Well this video is super well made, i can't believe that channels like gacha life and shit have more recognition than you, its super weol edited and the video and audio quality is very nice, i hope everything goes well for you :l
Watching this from my couch instead of spray painting my keyboard parts because we got f snow again, lmao. I recognize so much from this video. Good job!
5:51 sure i get it, because you are coming from scratchy ass gateron switches, but the NK Creams are one of the scratchiest linears on the market, even if you lube them. Even Gateron milky yellows are smoother, but with that nk cream price tag you can buy gateron cj switches which are smoother than switches like the tangerines and especially your creams...
i mean this is cool and all as a first try to modding, but in my opinion this is way too much work and money for such a cheap board, i mean, creams and a gmk set for a 40$ kb is like putting original bbs wheels on a car from a junkyard
The r3 had interference with the cherry profile keycaps because the switches are northfacing. Could you please try this "fix" and let me know if it made the sound better and feel better? ua-cam.com/video/W6S9WFunMC8/v-deo.html
thats awesome. i think iom gonna do this to my keyboard too. id isnt as expensive as buying a new one and its a fun project to do in quarantine. Loved your video mate!
gmk is a brand abs and pbt are materials gmk is made of doubleshot abs which is the best way to make a the colors pop as pbt is much harder to dye/color gmk is also cherry profile
Yeah, I didn't notice until later that I forgot to change my mic settings before recording that scene, so ended up losing a lot of the lower frequencies.
If you're comfortable with opening up your keyboard, the general way to tell if it's hot swappable is to check the back of the PCB. There will be a special socket that where the pins of individual switches are placed in. Ex : tinyurl.com/Hot-Swap-Socket If it doesn't have that, you will see the ones that have physical holes where the switches have been soldered through. Ex : tinyurl.com/Solder-PCB
Bruh why did you buy a Ducky? the keyboard is too expensive for what it is and you could build a custom keyboard for the same price that is better than the Ducky.
Honestly had no clue that there was a custom kb scene at the time. All I wanted was a small keyboard so I could have a ton of mouse space for FPS games. Saw a streamer with a Ducky and decided to get one too lmao. Looking back, there's def a lot of better choices but no regrets now.
If you still have the original switches, you should look for keycaps that have a "Cherry MX Profile" labeled with them. Those types of keycaps will fit perfectly on your keyboard.
i was just thinking about modding my first mechanical keyboard I bought and wanted to watch some vids for inspiration, and lo-and-behold you're about to mod the same exact one :D what a coincidence EDIT: watched through the vid a bit more, and jesus youre even using the same switches im gonna use, this might as well be a tutorial for what im gonna do haha
Nice mod on dirt cheap board. The mod itself cost way more than the keyboard itslef. I noticed your keyboard has north facing configuration and youre using cherry profile to solve the interference problem you might want to replace the switch with kaihl box cream or tecsee kingfisher
I HAVE THE SAME KEYBOARD!! I'm currently in the process of lubing my switched and stabs. Got some brown on the main typing keys as well. Also going to mod a removable usb c cable. I would say this is a great started keyboard getting into the expensive custom keyboard hobby.
Never owned an X-ray pad before, but I will say this pad definitely retains a lot more friction compared to my Steelseries Qck. It's a little sluggish when initially switching from the two and feel it's too slow for me when gaming. I was only drawn into this pad purely for the aesthetics. In terms of build quality it's solid. I've had it for about 5 months now and it only has a little bit of wearing in the edge stitching. It's gone through multiple washes and the color hasn't faded yet, while my Qck has gotten muddy after a single wash. Texture wise, I actually prefer the rougher texture of the Avocado pad over the slick feel of the Qck. TLDR; I wouldn't recommend it for gaming but aesthetically, go for it.
*Update* on the keyboard sound.

keep it up bro, i respect it that even though u only have about 30 subs u still put this much effort in it!!

Omg I would have thought you had 100k subs with this production quality
Yea true
Awesome video, the keyboard came out great! Thanks for leaving all your mistakes in and explaining what you learned from them, super informative

The paint on the back of the keyboard came out sick
I need an explanation on HOW THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE 66 SUBS
Nk creams are acctually one of thw Scratchiest switche lul
I subed because most people who do this stuff have a lot of subs but you dont

Ty :^)
for a sec there i thought u had 5 mil plus like wtf u have 38 subs keep going bud!
Yh mee too
Hey man, that was a great video!
Highly entertaining!!
btw, u deserve more subs
i have made 4 custom keyboards and I am cringing rite now
ooh a yoga mat works thats sick
U deserve more subz bro!
Nice vid! I just wouldnt have used nk creams as i find them incredibly scratchy
Ironic since they advertise it as "self-lubing". Won't lubing them manually fix the scratchiness?
@@TaimurZulqarnain you have to “break them in” and then after lube them, but even then, jwk switches are gonna be smoother stock
Deserves more subs
Hey great vlog.
I’m on the same project with one more difficulty… ISO FR AZERTY keyboard 🙃
Watching this from my couch instead of spray painting my keyboard parts because we got f snow again, lmao. I recognize so much from this video. Good job!
This made me cringe so much 😭😭😭😭😭 man bought Durock stabs and didn’t check the way the stabs were mounted 😭😭😭😭😭

I was planning on doing similar and found this video so thanks for the help!

I know this is kinda dumb, but the most important part of a keeb is really the stabs, you don't need to lube the switches but it does really help
gmk is a brand abs and pbt are materials gmk is made of doubleshot abs which is the best way to make a the colors pop as pbt is much harder to dye/color gmk is also cherry profile
some people put the spray can in boiling water in the winter. I just recently found that out ill use it on my next project
it loooks SOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOL
only if you had plate mounted durock stabs..
ONLY 159 subs? how such great content
Yep. Loud clicky switches suck. A lot.
I really like the video, but the sound test i think you went a bit too crazy in audacity with the noise reduction.
Yeah, I didn't notice until later that I forgot to change my mic settings before recording that scene, so ended up losing a lot of the lower frequencies.
hey, how do i know if my keyboard is hotswappable because i want to mod it, if you know pls answer me

no offense but it was god damn painful to see you type
Its rattle because its need more lube and holee mod
Btw ABS shines with use and PBT doesint.
Damn ❤️🙌subbed instantly
keep it up lol you have skill
Daaam your audio quality is top notch
Man u really dont know a lot about keyboards
those stabilisers sound atrocious
YOU DID NOT SAY DUCKY ONE MINI 2
"Buttery Smooth"
I have that keyboard, which keycaps can I get for it?
If you still have the original switches, you should look for keycaps that have a "Cherry MX Profile" labeled with them. Those types of keycaps will fit perfectly on your keyboard.

dude stop trolling
nk creams are not buttery smooth you haev to brake then in after lubing
have*
Can't believe you only have 80 subscribers
You deserved more than million cause of the quality and effort.
It's just magnificent
what lube you use?
Nice mod on dirt cheap board. The mod itself cost way more than the keyboard itslef. I noticed your keyboard has north facing configuration and youre using cherry profile to solve the interference problem you might want to replace the switch with kaihl box cream or tecsee kingfisher
me sitting here doing 67 switches in 6 hours ;w; well done ur channel is underrated as hell and ur video is dead helpful.
Good stuff
GMK to the keyboard : im gonna lift you to the highest sky my friend.
wow only 26 subs thought you had bout 3 mil
lol same
Can i gey your blue switches 😅
Sure you can *_gay_* with it
I was scared you would forget to clip the stabs but good job.
Are you from Philippines?
Nah I'm from the United States
Damn dude..u put some serious effort...kudos to you ❤️

Also, I'll tell you, this keyboard taught me how to desolder for sure. lmao
Is that mousepad good? The texture looks similar to an aqua control plus

@@iChuckBricks ok thx I’m fine with my aqua control plus for now was just wondering as I had never seen that pad before
18:47 TEST
do these keycaps fit optical switches?
Yes they are compatible.
stop pausing talking omfg
When you realized the optical switches wouldn't work... I felt that.
Fantastic video!
Definitely a face palm moment there when I noticed lmao.
