Well dont buy from eBay 8 out of 10 are fake sellers and most of the feedback is fake if its under 8k reviews.buy from aliexpress for fake figures. And yea most companies from Japan have there figures produced in china just saying probably cost them 15 to 20 to produce each one.
I would agree if the stand wasn't shit. Sega sells figures around that price but with better paint and stands that aren't shitty. Banpresto has better stands and decently better paint job. Both cheap figure companies.
Honestly I think the painting on the backpack of the bootleg looks nicer. Probably doesn't help that I feel like the official is kinda cheap looking for a 100 dollar fig.
Yeah though it writes him off as a pervert lol. Wish I could have my own collection of yaoi! Proud of my closet perv self as much as I'm a good shojo ^.^
GreenTea alot of the price come due to the shipping (usually) being from japan, which borders no nations and is an island, and from experience i know for a fact it’s much cheaper to buy them IN the nation.
@@bakaoneesanplays1791 he actually had a point. From what I see, the bootleg is going for more tones and depth in coloring, having some light and shadow fading effect while the legit one had one color, monotone and subtle just like the anime.
To be honest, who else than a grown man would be able to afford collecting these figurines. They were the target group for this product from the start.
I wanted to buy some posable action figures for art reference-- but authentic ones from many action series are 60+. Checking this video out to see if I should just go with Aliexpress bootlegs... But there's so many elements to this video that are... distracting
True, but doesn't change the fact you are giving money to the wrong person and not the author. And if you ever wanna sell it back, a fake will hardly sell for more than a single Digit, while a real one could skyrocket the price in about 3-5x higher(if well rpeserved and with the original box).
Alucard true, but some people may not be able to afford a 100$ figurine and find it useless paying that much money (i personally find it useless) when you can pay 25$ and the only difference is really in the face but barely noticeable from afar. some people may only afford the 25$ because of their budget honestly (personally opinion).
Simon Foex i didn’t say i don’t support. if figures are cheap like you said like 30$, i’d buy it if it’s real. but if it’s 100$ for a figurine, i could pay for something else more useful and buy a fake one. that’s all i’m saying
Hey there! Something could be considered a scientific research if the scientific method is used. It consists in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses. In other words: See the object, make a suposition, try to proof it's true, have a conclussion.
@@Mallinaamari They usually never try to compete with bootlegs in the first place, that is part of why they exist. A lot of the original sculpts are made in very limited runs to motivate the high prices of original sculpts. But, at least on of those originals is bought by the pirates making the copy mold. ;)
I guess it's also about supporting the art and the industry, if everyone buys the fakes it makes the official ones more expensive and means that less will be produced. The fakes are theft so that's my main issue with them, although I understand not being able to afford figures, I've only just managed to get a couple of cheap ones that had gone on sale.
Ironically the box for the fake actually looks better on camera.... Plus the figure doesn't seem that bad, bare in mind the legs issue will be just 1 or so from a batch, if your saving $75 why not?
Yeah, there's really bad flashback from the originals plastic. It might actually be a UV filtered material that would cause that, but generally I do think the fake box looks nicer.
Because you're supporting Chinese bootleggers trying to profit off of deception and tricking people into thinking they are buying a high quality sculpted product. I'd rather support the people putting time and care into crafting a figure than those who try to get away with mass producing them with molds and such.
Genuinly most of the figures I've gotten from wish either just dont have a box, or the box is really fucked up. For such a lowered price they're really not that bad.
@@ironia9825 oh yea I havent had any bad experiences except for a figure who didnt fit in the stand without putting a blow dryer to her foot 😭 as you do with wish in general though, make sure the product has okay ratings, if there are none check the sellers ratings! :)
@@bumblebeehappy Are the paint jobs okay? Does it somewhat look similar to the original? I'm asking cuz I'm planning to get one from wish, but too afraid of the quality. Thanks!
Just wanna say, if you are still young or cant really afford the expensive figures (like the ones costing 200-500 a piece), there is NO SHAME in buying a decent bootleg! Especially if it looks good. I have my bloodborne bootleg for about $40 since the original is out of stock and might cost me like $400- 600 on the aftermarket sellers. It still looks amazing since his face is in a mask anyway. Now ofc, if you can afford the figures that cost a bomb, go for it. But for ppl who want a set, of say 5 figures, with each costing $200ish? Dont sweat it if you need to resort to bootlegs.
I have bought a few cheap ones from Ebay and, as someone with no legit reference, they all look fine. Sure, up close you'll find some imperfections, but from a normal viewing distance they look perfectly good. I had always thought that they where "factory rejects", not quite good enough to clear quality control, but good enough to be sold straight from the factory for a heavily reduced fee. Actually, I don't think I would be willing to pay $200 for a figure that I can get (in an IMO only slightly worse condition) for $50. If I was more of a collector than maybe, but I just want to pay what I feel is a reasonable price for things. I feel like, in Japan, they will sell you a 10/10 product for top dollar, whilst over in China they'll sell you an 8/10 one for less that half the price. And, for me, that is just better value for money. Though I have to say that in the case of the one in the video, the Chinese one seems of a worse quality that any of the ones I got. (Except for 2 really bad ones, but they where only about $10, and still look passable from a distance.)
I'm definitely into buying genuine figures, but I can understand if someone uber broke would rather just go for the $25 figure. That said, a) if you're that broke, why are you spending $25 on a toy and b) why are you so smug about buying a cut-and-dry inferior product?
This. I wholeheartedly agree with your second point. I came from the sneaker community and over there we have the same problem. We don't care if you bought fake stuff as long as you don't act high and mighty about it and then proceeds to mock the one who bought the authentic one.
A) bc 25 dollars isn't as expensive as a 100 or 200 dollar figure (common sense lol) B) do you even have a bootleg figure to know what the quality is genuinely like? the quality of the figures are obviously worth the price. And question b doesn't go for every bootleg bc alot of bootlegs have different qualities soo...
A) No shit $25 is cheaper than $100, but that doesn't answer my question. If you're struggling for money that you need to buy a bootleg, there are better things to be spending your money on than a static toy. B) No doubt there are some bootlegs that come close in quality, but they wouldn't be selling for that cheap if they went through all that effort to make a perfect recreation. Bootlegs are almost always inferior, not always to the same degree, but studying them for a moment always yields the corners that have been cut to minimise costs.
@@Bush-Warrior a) bc ppl can afford a cheap figure unlike an expensive one also buying a cheaper figure leaves ppl with more money too and ppl would rather buy a knockoff and be satisfied and not broke than buy an authentic figure and be broke its honestly that simple to understand idk why u want to go back and forth that is LITERALLY WHY b) many reasons, for example we can just like that specific character of the figure, another reason is bc alot of bootlegs come out almost as good as the original or really good for their pricing. btw not all bootleg figures are bad trust me i know bc i actually have some (: though there are some i do dislike and rather buy the original of
I actually have 2 fake mikus! I still love them as much as my other girls, but you can certainly tell if you really inspect them. They're not bad looking but there's a few nicks in the paint and some of the paint job in general is low quality. still cute tho.
Thus is the difference between real collectiors/real anime fans and people like you. Imperfection is unacceptable. Your inner chunibyo will tell you this.
Sadly about fake figurine is not supported the franchise anime franchise kinda dependents dvd sales merch and figurine so yea if u buy fake the chance of ur franchise that u love might die
If you look up their stuff on some retailers (such as Solaris) there's sometimes a warning printed saying: "This manufacturer packs their figures poorly and won't refund for shipping damage. We will use extra packaging but purchase at your own risk!"
found a $5 love live nendo petit at a local shop and bought it to see what bootlegs were like... long story short i wanted to customize it, so i bought a bunch of exacto knives to cut off parts i didn't need, but the plastic was so cheap i could just pull pieces off-
I have to be completely honest as a figure collector myself, for $25 that’s not half bad. The colors are off and there’s paint smudge but..for the price I’d say it’s not bad. You should still support buying genuine figures though. Knock offs dont have that same feeling as receiving a genuine figure. You can feel all of the love and thought put into an authentic one :)
@@bakaoneesanplays1791 or they'll start selling originals for a cheaper and reasonable price. Lets face it, you should go out of business if you're on the same level or out shined by nock offs sold at a quarter of your prices.

The difference is clearer in person. It's like watching someone compare 4K to 720p. You won't see it on camera. I've had scale figures and bootlegs. The bootlegs are cool when you have no money but they look very noticeably shit.
Idk why most collectors that compare real vs bootleg figures, often end up overvaluing the little imperfections or detalis of the bootleg figures. Expressions like "it looks very bad" "its really rough" are not true, at least from the video perspective. Dont get me wrong, the video is very informative and nicely made, and I enjoy this channel a lot, but its something Ive consistently seen on these types of comparison videos. The damn bootleg is not perfect but costs 1/4 or even less than the original and looks very accurate to be honest.
Well sometimes u just can’t afford to spend that much money you know. Like I lives is Malaysia if a fig cost around 100USD. It would cost me around RM400+
To be fair, Pulchra is notorious for poor quality figures, if this was comparing a bootleg to an Alter or Phat figure, the difference would be way more noticeable
Really love this video! I recently got my first otaku box in the mail and the sonico figure that came with it looked really bad, and I went right to eBay to look up the same one, and found an exact one for 10$ from china. Was wondering if you will ever do a video review of otaku box figures to see if they are legit or fake ripoffs.
I feel like your statement answered that question lol. Monthly boxes are not a charity. Best case scenario is them buying up reject stocks, which has been common in the earlier "surprise box" industry. The huge issue is that not all reject stock is legally sold.
Yah but it hurts the industry and the people who make them. Also the studios get a portion of the money and when you buy a bootleg you are pretty much giving the creators the middle finger.
Townie Toast how does it hurt the industry if people are too broke to buy the official figures? They’re not even going to buy the real figures anyway so how is it hurting the industry? Good thing about low price figures is that people are willing to them for cheap and they love it. The company from Chinese company profit from them, they’re not rich people, so it supports them as well. Id rather pay poor company than rich company honestly.
You wouldn't, if you know ur money does not go to the series Author, also if you ever plan to sell it its worth less then what you bought it for(while an Original its the opposite). And since its a bootleg, good luck if it even lasts a few years without starting to deform with its own weight.
I'd probably be happy with the $25 one too if it looks good enough. But his comment about it smelling like burning tires concerns me. Might be contributing to indoor pollution.
@@lrdalucardart nothing go to the original series author, at most it's the licence or the manga sales. When you buy figure, it goes to the company that made it. So if they pay 10 million yen for the licence to thr author,if the figure sell well and they will make more profit then the author. If you want to support, the original author then buy the manga
@@lrdalucardart Who says that he "wouldnt be satisfied"? you're just assuming he cares about "giving money to the author" (which he doesnt, since he gets money for the license instead, and nothing from the figurine being sold), and you also assume he wants to sell it maybe he just likes the show and wants a figurine to place over his computer and that's it ~ also, deforming with its own weight? dude, not even figurines that come in cereal deform by themselves just by "existing" unless you place them in the sun/rain for months, you're nuts if you think that happens
I can understand some hobbies with fake versus real But come on. Its just display plastic. Cheaper gets the job done Id see if there was a sole company that made a lot of high grade figures then yeah itd be worth the price. But there are tons of figure companies. Saturation drive down value. Why pay so much if it doesn’t even come from “the best” manufacturer
Everything is made in China, legit or fake. Fake also has different quality tiers. And some of them do come with boxes which are a bit more expensive. For statues, some of the fake ones are pretty spot on and you only pay like 20 to 30% of the price. For action figures like Nendoroid and figma, I would stick with the authentic ones.
Well, I can tell you the life style you'll need. No girl friend, no eating out, no other expensive hobbies, survive off roman noodles. You'll save allot is money that way.
Majority of bl figure have sloppy paint jobs cuz of low cost production and no QC control as opposed to the pricey & legit one's. And for the most part the figure pose and design has lot of inconsistencies and irregularities, probably to avoid copyright issues. Oftentimes it's also manifested in packaging design & layout. Best to buy the original if your in it for investment, but if your tight on budget and just want it for display might as well get the affordable one like the Banpresto, Sega, Taito, Furyu etc.
As someone who wants to support the original creators along with having quality products, I never buy bootleg figures. While some bootleg figures look alright, the satisfaction you get from having a legit figure doesn't even compare. I always feel like it's more worth to pay more money for a figure of guaranteed great quality rather than a heavily discounted figure that probably doesn't have fitting parts, has a questionable mold and paint job, and is smelly.
"The company said that they were all destroyed, except this one" oof that's rough... "We got the best character" ummm excuse me? I don't appreciate your disapproval of Tohru herself being the best character.
I love to see that while I sell legit figures it seems I should just cut some shit figure out of clay, use official images, break the law and everyone will pay me $25 a go.
I agree with you about getting the real one and dont condone knock offs at all. But the problem with the saving up is you can miss out. I missed out on the Miia monster musume figure and now trying to find one of those thats legit is a nightmare or crazy expencive.
Yeah. It's doesn't help that legit anime figures are in limited supply and the prices for them can be astronomical. I'm sure anyone who values their money and are a hardcore fan of an anime series would want to buy legit figures. But the reality of trying to find them for a reasonable price is pretty harsh. You would have to be someone with a really good job and who saves every penny in order to be able to afford these figures whenever you want.
9:04 to skip the long talking and is where he finally put them next to each other so people who wants to look at them head to head to tell the differences.
I've bought around five or six Chinese bootleg figures over the years and one of them was pretty dang close to the official one, the others minus one were not too bad, and the last one was hilariously bad. However, even with the one that was terrible, I contacted the ebay seller, showed them that the product I got didn't match their photos (they were using photos of the official figure) and they refunded me, apologized, and then updated the photos to reflect the actual product they were selling. So, it's hit or miss, for sure, but if you don't really care that much about how perfect it is, you can get some bargains.
Point is, most bootleg figures are good enough for most people. The differences between a $25 knock-off and a legit figure that costs 4-5x as much are rather small. It's like justifying name brand cereal over store brand, if it cost $20 for a box of cereal. It's just not justifiable to most people.
So... 1- The packing has different tape 2- It's smells weird 3- her skin is slightly more tan 4- fingernails not painted well. Soooo in the end $20 vs $100 gets you what exactly? 1/5th of the price is going to be hard to argue 80 more bucks for a lighter skin tone and and more accurate paint job on the small details... Especially since most of us who buy figurines or build and paint resin kits know how to fix minor paint flaws, I mean minor paint flaws happen all the time even on official figurines. I appreciate the fact that you don't buy bootleg figurines, however most people can't afford the official figurines especially when you don't pre-order and the prices get jacked up right afterwards. You can be all about the official merchandise all you want but try not to shame people who buy bootlegs, we all have the same hobbies and interests some of us just don't make as much money.
Good points made all around. This video is not so much to show my opinion on fake figures, more to show what to look for if someone is trying to purchase a legit figure and are not sure if what they received is legitimate or not. Everyone has their opinions on buying fake figures, including myself, but at the end of the day, people are going to do what they have to to. Whether its preorder the legit figures, work extra hours and save up to pay for them, or just buy the bootlegs at a fraction of the price because thats what fits their budget. My only goal is to show the quality difference in the real versus fake figures so everyone knows what they are sacrificing when they support the fake figure companies. Its sad to say that many of the bootlegs I have seen firsthand are actually overpriced for the quality you are getting, but thats just my opinion. I buy real to support the sculptors and companies that put out the we all enjoy. But, to each their own! :D
@@jub8891 I don't know man I own multiple bootlegs, a figurines that are out of print and way too expensive and I have never once even thought to smell them. But as a test I just went and smelled my bootleg figurines compared to my regular figurines and I got nothing they both smell like plastic, oddly enough my Transformers figurine does actually smell kind of weird but it's an official figurine so I'm not sure why that is. Anyways there are two really big problems with bootlegs that people who are against bootlegs should point out, if you're going to be nitpicky the paint jobs on bootlegs are almost always bad and you will most likely need to repaint at least one thing on a bootleg figurine. Secondly the stands on bootleg figurines are Never As Good As the stands for official figurines they almost always have some kind of issue whether they're not even enough or they don't fit in the figurine properly. Lastly when it comes to figurines the greatest sin of all is that sometimes you will get a derp face figurine this happens with a lot of mid-tier official figurines as well unfortunately and collectibles like amiibos, most of us even those of us who paint aren't generally good enough to paint an accurate face on a figurine so I would say the biggest fault and the number one reason not to buy bootleg figurines would be that on occasion you might get a derp face.
I'm not trying to be out there super defending bootlegs or anything like that I'm just saying that, we shouldn't be demonizing people who buy bootlegs because they can't afford regular figurines saying stuff like "just don't collect figurines then" to some people that hundred bucks is a couple weeks worth of food... I've been there and I understand. Also if we're going to have the argument official figurines versus bootleg figurines we shouldn't just be like making shit up or making a big deal out of something that's not a big deal. There are good reasons and bad reasons for both sides of this argument, but at the end of the day we're all fans of the same thing and we should try to get along and not have a Divergence in the community because someone prefers bootlegs or someone has something against them. Like the creator of this video, while he did make this video and I think some of the things he pointed out are kind of pointless I responded, told him what I thought and he responded politely so now I'm subscribed to his channel and enjoy his videos. no harm no fowl, we might disagree a little bit but again in the end we're both fans of the same thing.
As my comment got deleted right away. Here I go again: In Germany we’ve got a word for people like you: “Luxus-S**lampe” - for 25$ that’s a pretty good deal and most of the time those factories are standing side by side and even working together, so folks get what makes you happy for a price and quality you can work and live with. Thank you! My wife and I have been collecting for over 5 years, and I hate seeing people excuse bootlegs! It’s an awful industry, and if you can’t afford the actual hobby, don’t get into it! Or buy legit prize figures that are cheaper. I was worried that you would start excusing the bootlegs because they’re cheaper but I’m glad you didn’t. I love your channel! My wife and I want to make one about our collection (we have over 200 figures) but I have to get a camera first. Have a good day!
My thoughts exactly! Cheaper comes at a price, but there are several good alternatives such as prize figures, segas, nendoroids and so on. I would love to see the collection, that puts mine to shame!
AnimePlz123 we’re moving so I hope that we can display all of our stuff soon, but I’m homojaku on myfigurecollection! I would love to have a Miku collection like yours, we don’t have many Mikus!
?? honestly those figures are way too expensive and overpriced. its completely fine to buy the fake ones. Not everyone is a millionaire and saying dont go for the hobby if you cant afford it is super ignorant of you. As long as there is a cheaper way to get to those figures people will take them doesnt matter if they look worse.
Jungkooks Waifu I believe there is a happy medium between buying expensive scale figures and buying fake bootleg figures. Nenderoids, prize figures, sega, banpresto, buying used, using point systems, and so on are all ways to get legit figures at a prize often less than $50. Compared to a poor quality fake figure for $20 (which in my opinion is often overpriced for what you are getting), you are getting something that looks way better and actually supports the anime industry. There is a lot more you are sacrificing in buying fake figures than just quality. But hey that’s just one guys opinion.
@@animeplz1234 In my opinion, I'd like to do a healthy mix of both. For cheaper anime figures I'd buy bootlegs so that I could save money and buy the much more expensive original figures.
I bought quite a few bootlegs on aliexpress because the quality is improving so much you can barely see the difference. Spent the remaining 75 or so on food instead.
I hope people also realized that these cheap $25 figures are painted with lead-based paint. They have no regard for health hazards and release these bootlegs anyways. Please reconsider and get the real ones.
That really wasn't the point, he was just pointing it out as an indicator of a fake figure. The tape doesn't really matter, honestly if it wasn't for the black smudges I wouldn't really care about buying it myself.
i own the exact kanna figure as you! and i bought her off of amazon, i don't remember how much she was, but when she arrived, she did not come with her box, instead she was wrapped up in a kinda white paper, and i think mine is fake, like her hair tips are WAYYY to pink then the real one you showed and the fake one, and the eyes are kinda a different shape and detail than than the ones you showed, she was the cheapest one i could afford at the time. shes the cheapest dragon maid figure! but still, fake or not, shes still adorable the way she is! X3 any fake anime figure are still cool even when there fake! :3
honestly if you wanted a repaint project for a custom, getting a fake might be a great idea since the sculpt doesn't seem to be the main problem but the paint job is.
Its usually the same figure from the same batch, its just a bad batch that usually employees are required to dispose of, instead smuggle them out and ebay them, or these same employees work "overtime" and make a few batches by themselves as good as they could and then ebay them.
I had no idea that there was a "real" and "fake" anime merch. I have bought three anime figures from about 20-24 each and one doki pillowcase for 24. and I'm happy with all of them!
Oh boy, you should look at model kit prices, then. Something that size would be $10-25 in general, but the non-bandai kits, especially the size of the ones in the background, will be going for hundreds of dollars. The Kotobukiya White Glint from Armored Core: 4A is upwards of $150 and that one should be roughly... A 6" figure. Which you have to assemble yourself, as well as having to fix seam lines, nub marks, and color seperation issues yourself. Bigger kits can go for hundreds of dollars. XP
@@inisipisTV - "real" != "different". You don't have to be living off of instant noodles and discount mystery meat to not want to pay that much for a figure, honestly.
I feel like the majority of the commenters are forgetting something very important. Sure, you could buy a figure at a 1/4th of the price, but literally none of the profit will go to the official creators. You're literally supporting people who steal from the original authors/studios of these animes. Anime production itself isn't a very profitable business; sure, they do get some sales from blu-ray/DVD sales after airing, but the main source of income for most of these franchises are merchandise and other such items. So what happens if you start purchasing bootleg items regularly? Simple, you remove the source of income for the franchise. That anime you really liked and wanted to have a second season? It might never have it if it's not profitable enough. The manga you like reading? The author might be considered "less popular" overall and could eventually have to end the series. It's totally reasonable that not everyone has $100 to spend on an anime figure; that's probably pretty common, but there are other ways to support the official creators without going for the most expensive type of merch there is. Keychains, clear folders, blu-ray/DVD, manga books, badges, nendoroids (and other such smaller type figures), etc. etc. The possibilities are numerous and plenty, so there's no excuse not to officially support them. "But I still can't afford legal merchandise!" Let me tell you about this great site called Mandarake. You can get officially licensed merch all the way down to 100 yen (~$1) depending on the popularity of the character/series and rarity of the item. For the smaller items, shipping should be very affordable and if you still can't afford that, go to hobby sites such as "myfigurecollection.net" and find people to split items with (i.e. you get your items sent together to save money) So stop supporting thieves.
You're assuming that everyone starts off by buying legitimate figures and then "switches sides" to buying bootlegs. You have no evidence for this. Personally, I never bought overpriced legit figures to begin with. I buy all of my figures secondhand or as bootlegs. When the prices of legit anime figures are so high, you bet your ass I'm going to support the secondary and bootleg markets instead (neither of which support the original companies). If the legitimate creators lowered their prices they could easily make up for the difference with volume and squash the bootleg market. Instead, they opt to keep prices high and produce in limited quantities. As such, a significant portion of the buyers opt to purchase bootlegs that cost a fraction of the price and are 80-90% identical. You also assume that all products and merchandise are available everywhere. Even with modern streaming services like Funimation and Crunchyroll, certain series, languages, or even dubs are unavailable based on location/region. Short of importing region specific DVD/Bluray players and purchasing complete Bluray/DVD series straight from Japan, people in certain locations have no option for watching an anime series outside of piracy. If neither Funimation nor Crunchyroll offer an anime in the format I wish to view and the alternative is a very expensive complete collection, you bet I'm going to watch an illegitimate stream somewhere. From your standpoint I'm taking away from the creators' profits, but the fact of the matter is: They were never going to receive my money to begin with since the product is out of my reach.
Figures are way to expensive for what they offer. It's true that the copy is not as good as the original but it sure as hell not a 75$ worth of difference. The original is as much of a rip off as the copy, its 100$ bro, they try to squeeze every penny they can out of the fans...
That's why i will probably never buy an anime figure. They are made from PVC, and that makes it feel like they should be cheap, but yet they are priced over $100, or a lot more than that, all the time. Im way more happy spending $150-$300 on Overwatch figures made from very strong and heavier material (poly-something, I forget what its made out of) and are by far better in almost all ways.
Understandable, but be warned that the Authors also get more money ratio per 1 figure sold then they do for selling thousand of mangas. So if you wanna support them "best", get a figure instead.
@@lrdalucardart I'm sorry but if their show/series is so popular that they have their figures copied then the last thing they need is "support". They are already set for life. But yes, if u want to support a small creator/artist in any way, I encourage that.
@@Screcy - Nope. Even the popular one's are not set for life, even if they are that's no excuse to buy a bootleg one. You also have to consider the original sculptor, graphic designer and other artist that brought that figure to the market, plus the people who invest in it's production so we can have such nice good things. Don't give money to hacks/thieves who never give any input whatsoever to the creation of the actual Figures, Anime or Manga that real artist worked hard to achieve. You either buy the original figure or you don't.
@@inisipisTV How old are you? You have a very gullible mentality of: some people are good/some people are evil. That's not how the world works. You're calling the people who make the copies criminals, you know that, them making these figure is not illegal right? Also the original sculptor, graphic designer and other artists are paid when making the figures and not paid by the amount of figures sold so the fact that u buy it doesn't support them in any way. You support the company and the people who own the rights to that figure. You avoid to talk about the main point of my comment, that the the original is way overpriced and I'm not saying that without thinking of the costs to make it or the other legal payments required. It's true that the only reason that the copies are so cheap is because they cut corners but again if a copy is 15$ and the original 100$ that's not because they needed the extra 85$ to cover the costs of the artist, shipment and the selling from one expediter to another. About 50% of that goes there, the rest is all huge profit for them. My hole point is that they can overprice their figures because fans will buy them anyway. The only reason they don't charge more is because then people will actually prefer to buy the cheap copies. They have people that calculate this stuff. Even wonder why a certain figure is 100 and not 110 or 90? It' because of it was 110 less people will buy it (so less profit) and if it was 90 even tho more people would buy it it still wouldn't be enough people to cover the 10 $ difference (do they still make a big profit? hell yeah but not the maximum profit they could make). They don't care about the artists and the rest of the people, they only see the $. Am I recommending all people to buy only bootleg figures? No. If you have the income to afford buying the original and care about the small details then I encourage you to buy it. But if you can't afford it then buy the fake one. I don't agree with the crazy hate towards buying bootleg figures. People will always buy originals and fakes and there is no problem in that. The only problem is selling a fake as an original with the same price.
I bought a lot of bootlegs in the past simply to decorate the background of my legit figures...also those without boxes are actually legit ones which simply get few flaws and are weeded out from the market, they always have 1/3 the price of the normal ones and have very close quality, so I recommend buying those non-boxed ones instead of real bootlegs.
BTW, the real bootleg ones also have around 1/7 the price of legit ones. Just a reference for anyone who only have the budget to buy bootlegs. However, I don’t recommend buying bootlegs.
The bootleg ones were originally designed for manufacturing at a extremely low cost to match the power of consuming of normal Chinese students many years ago, but as the income of Chinese people gradually increases, the bootleg ones are less and less favoured. However, they have become some cheating tool for some west retailers, which I noticed not long ago. Every wise people is able to judge the difference between these two kind of products. Support the legit ones even though some of you may not have enough spare money!
I have a question, there's that website selling garage kits of unbuilt, unpainted versions of branded figures; are they worth it? I mean, I build and paint warhammer miniatures, and I thought I could get one of these at a good price, and I can do the painting and assembly myself. So, any response will be appreciated.
Buying legit supports the artists you love. They really do not make much money considering what they have produced. Real licensed products support more than just one person.
Where did you get the real one? i see a lot of kanna figures everywhere and i really wanna get one but i cant tell whether i'm being scammed or it's actually real.
I expected the fake to have some major bootleg saber derp face, guess the bootleggers are getting smarter at fooling people.
I am pretty surprised on the good feedback some bootleggers sellers tend to have.
Well, the company that made the real thing is also notorious for low quality products anyways.
Well dont buy from eBay 8 out of 10 are fake sellers and most of the feedback is fake if its under 8k reviews.buy from aliexpress for fake figures. And yea most companies from Japan have there figures produced in china just saying probably cost them 15 to 20 to produce each one.

True, but doesn't change the fact you are giving money to the wrong person and not the author. And if you ever wanna sell it back, a fake will hardly sell for more than a single Digit, while a real one could skyrocket the price in about 3-5x higher(if well rpeserved and with the original box).

It's usually far more than slightly worse. Do you own any legit scale figures? (Not prize figures) the sculpt quality is on another level.
A) bc 25 dollars isn't as expensive as a 100 or 200 dollar figure (common sense lol)
B) do you even have a bootleg figure to know what the quality is genuinely like? the quality of the figures are obviously worth the price.

Majority of bl figure have sloppy paint jobs cuz of low cost production and no QC control as opposed to the pricey & legit one's.

UA-cam: Observe
I've bought around five or six Chinese bootleg figures over the years and one of them was pretty dang close to the official one, the others minus one were not too bad, and the last one was hilariously bad. However, even with the one that was terrible, I contacted the ebay seller, showed them that the product I got didn't match their photos (they were using photos of the official figure) and they refunded me, apologized, and then updated the photos to reflect the actual product they were selling. So, it's hit or miss, for sure, but if you don't really care that much about how perfect it is, you can get some bargains.
Dude, you be like that one friend in the group to never throw down on weed, but we'd be cool about it because of your... "convinctions".
Point is, most bootleg figures are good enough for most people. The differences between a $25 knock-off and a legit figure that costs 4-5x as much are rather small. It's like justifying name brand cereal over store brand, if it cost $20 for a box of cereal. It's just not justifiable to most people.
So...
1- The packing has different tape
2- It's smells weird
3- her skin is slightly more tan
4- fingernails not painted well.
yep exactly
the smell of fakes is actually very overpowering, having hard one myself.. its a strong toxic smell you can almost smell across the room..
Cheers
Your collection has a lot of figures that I’ve been dying for (especially that 1/2 Sonico, she’s my fav!) so yours is awesome as well!! We love figures a lot.
At this point I avoid any sort of anime merchandise from China on ebay. Either Japan or US and always check/ask if it's authentic.
I bought quite a few bootlegs on aliexpress because the quality is improving so much you can barely see the difference. Spent the remaining 75 or so on food instead.
They are so $hitty what are you talking about quit being cheap and buy the real one's and support the companies that make em
Mom: you never watch anything educational on UA-cam do something with your life
Me: 1:53
Honestly they both look bad
Especially the neck seems very disproportionate
I hope people also realized that these cheap $25 figures are painted with lead-based paint. They have no regard for health hazards and release these bootlegs anyways. Please reconsider and get the real ones.
Bootleg looks good definitely worth it
The shoddy photos catch my attention more. So out of the two i'd be looking at the fake one first.
Does the tape used really matter if you're saving 80 bucks?
If you really wanna save money, JUST DON'T BUY IT.
That really wasn't the point, he was just pointing it out as an indicator of a fake figure. The tape doesn't really matter, honestly if it wasn't for the black smudges I wouldn't really care about buying it myself.
The only bootleg I buy are whatever Bandai doesn't make that bootleggers made. It makes me sad.
I thought the bootleg version was the real one, God I'm dumb 🤦
“A few figure”
Looking at my only two Rem figure and cry looking at yours
I mean I wouldn't spend 100 for a figure just to be on a shelf so I'd rather get the 25 dollar one I mean it's not that bad 😃
i own the exact kanna figure as you! and i bought her off of amazon, i don't remember how much she was, but when she arrived, she did not come with her box, instead she was wrapped up in a kinda white paper, and i think mine is fake, like her hair tips are WAYYY to pink then the real one you showed and the fake one, and the eyes are kinda a different shape and detail than than the ones you showed, she was the cheapest one i could afford at the time. shes the cheapest dragon maid figure! but still, fake or not, shes still adorable the way she is! X3 any fake anime figure are still cool even when there fake! :3
You gotta check the panties on it to see if it's legit
honestly if you wanted a repaint project for a custom, getting a fake might be a great idea since the sculpt doesn't seem to be the main problem but the paint job is.
That’s like choosing hot model or a regular girl who happens to look like the hot model. I don’t think that’s a hard choice....Both! Lol
So a $25 figure isn't as realistic as one for $100? Who knew?
Lol the $25 is nearly a 1:1 copy. Some of it looks actually better than the $100.
Doesn't matter if they both fit in a jar.
Based
Lmao
where did you buy that cabinet that you store in most of your valuable ones?
Its usually the same figure from the same batch, its just a bad batch that usually employees are required to dispose of, instead smuggle them out and ebay them, or these same employees work "overtime" and make a few batches by themselves as good as they could and then ebay them.
I had no idea that there was a "real" and "fake" anime merch. I have bought three anime figures from about 20-24 each and one doki pillowcase for 24. and I'm happy with all of them!
honestly I couldnt pay 100$ for a figure, that's absurd..I'd rather purchase knock offs because I have different priorities.
XP
If you have real priorities, don't waste your money on knock-offs then.
@@inisipisTV - "real" != "different". You don't have to be living off of instant noodles and discount mystery meat to not want to pay that much for a figure, honestly.
You should see the Tsume-art figures/statues, easily reach +600 euros depending on the figure (some even reach 1500 euros, like the Athena one)
@@redjack2629 I have bought quite a few Master Grade Bandai Kits but now I have no time to really focus on builds anymore, its a shame really.
Me: this is a good looking bootleg!
AnimePlz123: this is bad
Me: this is bad
"But I still can't afford legal merchandise!"
Let me tell you about this great site called Mandarake. You can get officially licensed merch all the way down to 100 yen (~$1) depending on the popularity of the character/series and rarity of the item. For the smaller items, shipping should be very affordable and if you still can't afford that, go to hobby sites such as "myfigurecollection.net" and find people to split items with (i.e. you get your items sent together to save money)
So stop supporting thieves.
Nah
thank you
I bet you’re the same type of person that whines about piracy
From your standpoint I'm taking away from the creators' profits, but the fact of the matter is: They were never going to receive my money to begin with since the product is out of my reach.
i absolutely ADORE all of your mikus in the background!
Were did you get your shelves on the back wall with all the mikus in it
I bought a lot of bootlegs in the past simply to decorate the background of my legit figures...also those without boxes are actually legit ones which simply get few flaws and are weeded out from the market, they always have 1/3 the price of the normal ones and have very close quality, so I recommend buying those non-boxed ones instead of real bootlegs.
I have a fake Ebay figurine with no weird smell since day one..and I know it’s fake because the figurine quality is mediocre
i tried to get three anime bootleg figures......they took my money....and never gave me the figures....i was scammed....
What display case is that you're using for the 1/4 scales?
Buying legit supports the artists you love. They really do not make much money considering what they have produced. Real licensed products support more than just one person.
How would you even know that... how much of my 100$ exactly does the artist get?
@@fumomofumosarum5893 how much of the $25 does the artist get? 0%...? 0%....?
Where did you get the real one? i see a lot of kanna figures everywhere and i really wanna get one but i cant tell whether i'm being scammed or it's actually real.
