@@themechanic6117 yea I had people bring me their lawn mowers and say it won't start. They leave and I call them right back after putting gas in the tank, many times. Usually I get told to perform standard maintenance items on it. I did at a reduced price for them. Kept them happy.
That's funny. When my lawn mower turns off my fuel thought is check the fuel .... never does it cross my mind that it needs to go to a shop 😄🤣
Ha ha, a lot of us were shouting at the computer screen! As I recall there was a code for the fuel level sensor at the beginning, in which case he needs that fixed anyway. You're half way there, may as well fix it now. You made good decisions, it was a fun video in any case. Only guys with broad shoulders can poke fun at themselves, you're a good man!

I have a 2002 pathfinder and I just took that filter off and hard lined it..been like that for 5 years no issues...the pump pick up tube has a good enough screen and filter on it..
I have a feeling he won’t be back until the pump is toast. He has too much money invested in fuel containers now. Hahaha Good diagnosis great job.
He said he wanted to changed the sending unit but I haven't heard from him. The next time we see this car it may be a failed pump 😅👎
If he was positive that it DID have gas, maybe the repair shop drove all his gas out of the tank while it was there or maybe they spilled a shit ton changing the filter?
That's a possibility I didn't think of! He seemed baffled because he knows about how many miles per gallon he gets on each fill up. He just couldn't believe it was empty based on his math . So the shop losing some fuel could be a possibility
Doh! Fuel pumps often go out shortly after a blocked or restricted filter is changed. It's because they're working harder and running way too hot for quite awhile before the problem is noticed
That's what I was thinking pump was working to damn hard. But I still would have dropped a gallon of gas in to be sure lol
Had a 2-year-old battery go bad, I didn't know that so I replaced the starter 🤬. Sometimes we don't check the obvious.
I had a 2003 pathfinder same issue after replacing the sending unit on mine with a nissan oem I still had issue with the gauge not reading correctly I sent the cluster out to get it check it out come to find out the cluster needed repair after that no issues, and yes I replace the fuel pump with oem since I ran dried so many times before the repair

The fuel gauge is not working on my e250 347k but the low fuel warning light still works somehow. I've been driving it like this for 10 years 🤣

I had a lady argue that she did have gas in her dodge caravan because she just put gas in it. I finally told her to have it towed away or purchase some fuel. After the fuel, the vehicle started. The truth later came out that she put in $2 of fuel🤣🤷♂️👍
That $2 was about 3/4 gallon. I hope she was trying to get like 3 blocks away
That's crazy! I know someone who put like a $1.50 in gas and was surprised when it wouldn't start lol "I just put gas in it"

LOL, after the gurgling sound I was thinking to just throw 12-1 gallon of gas in it just to be sure. Summer months mean running AC and he probably burned it off quicker than expected.

I’m gonna feel like an idiot when my car starts tomorrow after putting some gas in it. I just replaced the battery cause it died and I didn’t put any gas in it cause I was worried about wasting money if it was something else.
Always start with the less expensive attempt. $10 of fuel is less than the cost of a battery

He did come to me initially for like a timing chain rattle and codes related to timing. I told him to take it to a shop....and here we are lol

That filter clamp is barely worthy of a RivNut.
You're a body man- would you agree that vehicle would
look way better if cut & buffed out? That clear coat is really
oxidized. By the shape of underbody- it appears to be what
we'd call around here a "Winter Rat" or a "Beater with a heater".
Most of your Customers bring their vehicle in on empty. Why?
Do they expect you to add gas? I'm always hearing you complain
about that- this one takes the cake!
